Wanted to trek it but too bad...the timing doesnt fit me right...JYI, u have to start your journey from Jogja town at 12am... yes, 12am... reaching the Mt Merapi starting point about 1am...then start to trek up to the summit and u need about 4-5 hour...depend on the guide who led you...by that time, u will able to watch the sunrise at 5:30-5:45am...

Sorry to tell u...i am too tred to make it to the top..so i skip this part... i only went for the Mt Merapi tour with those scrambler bike...it was fun too...and dangerous!!

try checking in agoda first on the rates...most of the hostels are similar in pricing as jogja mostly consists of students and other backpackers,better choose the ones closer to town.

quick question.

how much money to bring for a 4day3nights at jogja? the usual traveler without going to mt. merapi. staying at malioboro(paid accommodation)... rough estimates~ i'm planning to bring rm800 worth of rupiah..

If you don't shop much, then I think RM800 is enough as their foods are really cheap.

Anyone got contact of a good driver at yogya? How about the price per day?

Anyone been to merapi jeep tour also? Hotel can arrange or I need to talk to the driver? How much normally for a trip to merapi?

11:45am - Driver fetch me and my partner to Prambanan Temple (nearer to Airport as being informed) (getting Prambanan - Borobudur Combine ticket only for USD30, if not USD20 - Borobudur & Prambanan USD18)
12:45pm - Lunch
1:30pm - Drive off to Borobudur
3:00pm - Borobudur Temple visit* (as per driver advised around that time)
4:30pm - Merapi View
6:00pm - Head to Jogja town - Check In Malioboro
7:00pm - Dinner and walkaround (free n easy)

Transportation - 450K IDR per car
Prambanan & Borobudur Temple combine ticket USD30/person

Day 2
7:15am - Breakfast
7:45am - Jomblang Cave (Caving) <pls google up if wanna know more.
2:00pm - Lunch
3:00pm - Visit Indrayanti/Baron Beaches for snorkeling/sunset
6:30pm - Baron's beach Seafood
7:30pm - Back jogja (free n easy)

Yes, you'll need to keep some rupiah for airport tax when return. However, I don't remember how much is it already.

If u taking Air Asia, no need to save some rupiah d ... its charge into your air ticket d.

Now no more already? I was there last year October taking Airasia.

I was there last month. When going back home, I prepared bout 150K for it. But they (AirAsia or Immigration or Custom) didn't collect it. So, I m guess no need d gua, heard it was charged into the airfare d. Same goes to Bali Airport.

I see... it's better like that. Cause i see some traveller used up all their rupiah and need to change again in the airport. It was collected by the custom previously at a counter outside the departure gate.

the route to Dieng Plateau is closed due to renovation from land slide.
Cars are not allowed to pass that bridges and must change transport after that.
