I'm wondering if anyone ever visited Jogja during Awal Muharram which falls on 26 October this year??? Will the attractions such as museums, eateries, shops or the travel tour open during the day? I was actually planning to go during the Malaysia day's public holiday but then found out I couldn't take leave on that day.

Hai,
I'll be going to Jogja in Oct. As I'll be travelling alone, I prefer to do some research and preparation in advance. I'll be there for 5D4N. I'll have 3 full days. Here's my rough itinerary and I hope someone can help to give me some opinions so that I can maximize my time but not making it too rush.
Day 1 (23/10) ETA at Jogja: 11.20am I plan to overnight at Vogels Hostel, Kaliurang so that I can join the Mt.Merapi sunrise trekking. Should I go straight to Vogels Hostel or I can visit a place or 2 first in Jogja?
Day 2 (24/10) Join Mt. Merapi sunrise trekking. To visit Candi Ceto and Sukuh. Plan to stay overnight at Jogja.
Day 3 (25/10) Join Borobudur sunrise tour. Proceed to Prambanan and surrounding temples. Ramayana ballet at night
Day 4 (26/10) Visit attractions in Jogja such as Ullen Sentaru museum, Pulau Cemeti, Taman Sari royal bath. Shopping for souvenirs at Malioboro
Day 5 (27/10) Flight back to KL at 2pm
The attractions/activities listed about is my must visit places. If you guys feel I can add in more places into the itinerary, do let me know. Will greatly appreciate any opinions from everyone.

If you don't shop much, then I think RM800 is enough as their foods are really cheap.

QUOTE(ukiya @ May 18 2015, 10:04 AM) During return, do we need to pay airport tax? AirAsia. Yes, you'll need to keep some rupiah for airport tax when return. However, I don't remember how much is it already.

I see... it's better like that. Cause i see some traveller used up all their rupiah and need to change again in the airport. It was collected by the custom previously at a counter outside the departure gate.

QUOTE(clamp_wl @ Oct 24 2015, 02:27 PM) May I know if the entrance fee to borobudur is paid in rupiah or dollar? Quoted in USD but can pay in rupiah. You can purchase the borobudor-prambanan combo tickets together. Will be cheaper than purchasing it separately. I think USD 30 for combo ticket. I can't remember of the validity. But I used it for 2 consecutive day. Visited Borobudor first and then Prambanan the next day.
