Just buy an external ssd and connect it to your PS4. Move your games from PS4 hdd to the external ssd. Done.

the cost/benefit of upgrade your PS4 HDD to 2TB SSD isn't worth it
there aren't huge improvement on the PS4 loading time compared to what we see on PC's spinning disk vs SSD
PS4's own HW architecture is a bottle neck there

IMO, better save up that money to get a PS5

Actually there's significant improvement. I used extend ssd on my ps4 slim and ps4 pro. So I can confirm that. Or course we cannot compared to PC, but it's good enough for console.

But I agree with last point. If got budget, just go for PS5.

I am using PS4 slim 500gb, then bought seagate 2tb sshd
next time after bought ps5, then unplug the sshd from ps4 and use on pc

Update after a couple of months.
The nidec PS4 pro fan is getting loud again.
Not as Loud as just before I changed the fan, but it’s certainly very noticeably irritating now. Can definitely hear it over speakers.

It’s a good thing I’ll be able to collect the ps5 later this weekend. Can’t stand the noise.

You did clean the heat sink and reapplied thermal paste right?

Yup. Heat sink was quite clean too before I cleaned it.

Have to live with it. The cooling solution design unfortunately is like that~~
Even my PS4 Pro does the same, repasted it with TG Kryonaut, fully cleaned the heatsink and the fan will eventually get loud again but not until jet sound, still will be noticable.

Hi all. What is the recommended model for internal hdd replacement for ps4 (first gen). I used saegate backup plus slim since years back and now it is unreadable. Saw an update version of this model online, this should still work right? Thank you
