Hi, I just achieved platinum today. Is it permanent or have to renew every month?

You have to maintain the status and can check your tier progress, basically to maintain Plat status, you need to achieve >3500 points by 31st Dec. It's calculated every 6 months. 

Could my tier be ‘downgraded’ a few levels down?
This would depend on how often you use Grab.

Here’s another example. Let’s say, your current tier is Platinum. You will stay on Platinum from 1 Jan- 30 June (Reward Period 1). However, if you take 0 rides during that Reward Period, your Platinum tier would be ‘downgraded’ to the basic ‘Member’ tier. That’s why you need to take more rides to earn a certain amount of points to stay on your current tier.

Thanks for reply. The "rides" during that Reward Period, can it refer to the grab rewards point I earn through grab pay? I heard someone said if you achieve Platinum, they will request you to unlock 1 more tier to let you stay permanent Platinum, I wonder how true is it?

I don't understand your question. 

No such thing as unlock 1 more tier to stay permanent Plat. I have been Plat user since very long time ago and every 6 months, I still have to go through the 3500 points benchmark.

do you have the apps? if you do. open your apps and choose can't scan the barcode then the cashier needs to enter a specific code which i believe is the code for that Petronas branch.

Baskin Robbin should have 20+20%rebate. I have received pek senang raya 20%rebate and another 20% rebate at the alley but not received in domino. I will try at baskin Robbin later because today have 31+20+20% rebate.

On another hand, I just spent my 20% voucher for Grab Food for Platinum users on Musang King durian. Since I live in PJ, so it's within delivery coverage for SS2 Durian. Maximum discount is RM 20, so I bought two boxes, each at RM 50. After discount is RM 80 and delivery fees RM 5. Total was RM 85. I already finished one box and had 13 seeds. Good job on the vacuum packaging.

Disclaimer: I am not a big fan of durian and have no deep knowledge about durian. However, the seeds are flat which look like Musang King ones. Someone I know also mentioned the colours and wrinkles do look like Musang King. I have no experience with SS2 Durian but seems like a reputable durian place.

Yes, fastest way is by spending at merchants as that gives 20x points. These days it's easy retain Plat status unlike last time I had to take a lot of rides just to maintain Plat status.

Ya, exactly, you just need to spend RM 175 (x20 = 3,500 points) within 6 months, 1 month approximate RM 30 per month using grabpay 

I think sooner or later, Grab will find this unsustainable and may reduce the rewards or make the minimum tier points higher.

I hope they revise and provide better benefit, else if everyone is a Plat, there's no way they can give exclusivity
They used to arrange a monthly event/invite for Platinum, from super attractive Baskin Robbins redemption, slowly to lousy gym class, and now nothing for months already

Yes, that's right, I hope there is revision to make it more exclusive. Before GrabPay came into picture, I was really struggling to maintain the Plat status with just rides. Actually most of my spending still comes from rides and not merchants spending.
Now even my friends who don't take Grab rides are all on Plat status. 

And I thought they should reward Grab rides more, that's where their business started and where they grew their customer base. Moreover, it's their own business they should be able to award more, but seems that they have more margin from merchant or they want to aggressively capture market share in the e-wallet space first.

They still have problem with limited merchants, else even they increase requirement by 10x, I think people still can achieve

I've never received the 20% + 20% as advertised, feel Grab promo sometimes damn confusing.
