2. Fuel consumption
3. Maintainance
5. Spare parts.

Just some info, will be switching a cvt car to this 6 speed manual. would be i fun i guess?

if you do a quick search in carlist, manuals will be mostly out of your budget, suggest to stretch your budget a little if you are really serious about manual 86.

1. For daily is great. Don't expect a soft plush ride. It's a sports car after all. But it has very usable trunk space, and back seat can be used to put things too. Rear seats fold down for that occasional IKEA moments.

2. Depends very much on how you drive. Most people get about ~300-350km per tank. Some claim of getting 400-500km per tank, but that's few and far in between. Personally I get about 270-300km due to me revving the car all the time.

3. Usual maintenance not expensive. Engine oil 5.7L, change every 10000km if you drive sedately. I usually change at 5000km mark due to the way I drive, or at most 7000km-ish range. The things to watch out for though, is for engine oil leaks which is common. Get someone to check for error codes in the car. And check for any telltale signs of prior accidents. Also, there is also a recent recall for the valve springs which may need to be replaced with the older year models which is within your budget. Not sure how much that will cost, as that recall is pretty new. If you get a local unit then it should be covered by Toyota / MotorImage for free. For the recon cars we're not sure yet what is the outcome.

4. Depends on what spare parts. Car spare parts are never cheap, and it's a little more pricey with the 86 because it's not a common car.

As for fun, since when is CVT fun to drive? haha.
The 86 is an extremely fun car to drive to be honest, especially if you like to drive through the back roads. It's a very forgiving car to drive. The limits are low, but it lets you know when you're approaching it.

Power is adequate, though not a lot. Many new turbocharged cars are faster, but that's part of the fun of driving it. You get to row through the gears all the time.

Hmm, is towards the year end. Might have some serious discount if they want to quickly sell it. Haha

Understood lots and appreciated your feedback as a owner! Yes recond units is what i eye at due to my budget. More on, i used it daily. Everything need a tech man to check on before purchase recon.

As for fuel consumption, my cvt can get more 500km haha. Well, need to sacrifice bit for such fun car.

Normal commuter driving around KL is never going to be fun. It will be worse in a manual car when you have to keep changing gear all the time. It feels like using a rotary telephone. If you are happy to make that sacrifice for great weekends, that's cool but you should be aware of what you are buying into.

You need 120 to 130k to buy the car
And 5 to 15k cash at hand for Wear and tear/minor mods such as tinting/HU/reverse camera/dashcam/tires etc.

Ideally, you'll also need to be decent as driving manual.
Getting a 86/BRZ to learn manual driving can be challenging.

1) very shit daily car.

I'm sure you've heard of manual woes in jam
The sport clutch does very tiring even though it is hydraulic assisted.
If you even modified it like mine, replaced because my stock one seized and blown to bits, it'll worsen the situation with stiffer clutch pedal and added NVH

I changed non stock (Exedy ultra fiber sport OEM) because:
1) regular pricing, stock is 2k while that Exedy aftermarket is 1.5k
2) stock also made by Exedy, custom built for Toyota and Subaru with better finish and NVH
3) main difference is the clutch springs, pressure plate and friction materials

2) 6 to 15 km/l
Manual is worse with more aggressive gear ratio
But Auto, kinda defeat the purpose of getting this car.

3) the car is 250k selling price in Malaysia.
Maintenance is at that level

Minus a turbo charger and 2 drive shafts since not turbo AWD like Evo or WRX STI

other than that, it's a sports car, what were you expecting? Proton?

4) also shit.
Call some Toyota centers they will ask you what is a 86.

Do you expect people to stock for parts?

Most of the parts, prepare to wait for shipping) stocking.

It took me 2 months (car hanging in workshop) to ship my clutch parts.
So word of advice - don't destroy your clutch/clutch bearing.

Also consider having a recond warranty, saved me few thousand on a half cut manual gear box.

Your last question: fun if you already know how to drive manual and heel toe rev match properly.
I would assume it'll be A nightmare if you're clueless on manuals.

Recond market supply is monopolized - by vision Motorsports

They sell easily 10 to 20 cars per month, they are not in a hurry to clear stocks.

So avoid them and any dealer who take stocks from them.

If you can have your own AP arrangements, better go with that.

Also have the car you're aiming/bidding from Japan, to be investigated in it's actual mileage.

I've provided links before in this forum, please search for them.
