QUOTE(blmse92 @ Nov 24 2018, 10:34 AM) Wanted to ask you guys, was looking for a 86 or brz that suits my budget around rm105-115k max. Manual preferred. You need 120 to 130k to buy the carQuestions 1. Just wanted some insight on how this car does in daily to work as i gonna use it for daily commute. 2. Fuel consumption 3. Maintainance 5. Spare parts. Just some info, will be switching a cvt car to this 6 speed manual. would be i fun i guess? All of your input is much appreciated. And 5 to 15k cash at hand for Wear and tear/minor mods such as tinting/HU/reverse camera/dashcam/tires etc. Ideally, you'll also need to be decent as driving manual. Getting a 86/BRZ to learn manual driving can be challenging. 1) very shit daily car. I'm sure you've heard of manual woes in jam The sport clutch does very tiring even though it is hydraulic assisted. If you even modified it like mine, replaced because my stock one seized and blown to bits, it'll worsen the situation with stiffer clutch pedal and added NVH I changed non stock (Exedy ultra fiber sport OEM) because: 1) regular pricing, stock is 2k while that Exedy aftermarket is 1.5k 2) stock also made by Exedy, custom built for Toyota and Subaru with better finish and NVH 3) main difference is the clutch springs, pressure plate and friction materials 2) 6 to 15 km/l Manual is worse with more aggressive gear ratio But Auto, kinda defeat the purpose of getting this car. 3) the car is 250k selling price in Malaysia. Maintenance is at that level Minus a turbo charger and 2 drive shafts since not turbo AWD like Evo or WRX STI other than that, it's a sports car, what were you expecting? Proton? 4) also shit. Call some Toyota centers they will ask you what is a 86. Do you expect people to stock for parts? Most of the parts, prepare to wait for shipping) stocking. It took me 2 months (car hanging in workshop) to ship my clutch parts. So word of advice - don't destroy your clutch/clutch bearing. Also consider having a recond warranty, saved me few thousand on a half cut manual gear box. Your last question: fun if you already know how to drive manual and heel toe rev match properly. I would assume it'll be A nightmare if you're clueless on manuals. |

QUOTE(blmse92 @ Nov 25 2018, 05:20 PM) Recond market supply is monopolized - by vision MotorsportsThey sell easily 10 to 20 cars per month, they are not in a hurry to clear stocks. So avoid them and any dealer who take stocks from them. If you can have your own AP arrangements, better go with that. Also have the car you're aiming/bidding from Japan, to be investigated in it's actual mileage. I've provided links before in this forum, please search for them. |
