blink.gif what's the difference between original ROM and custom ROMs? Last night I flashed my Touch to Touch Dual ROM (get from xda-developer forum); I don't see any improvements other than the "different" theme. sweat.gif

HTC Touch Dual Custom ROM only for lite user not much differ from original ROM the only differ is Big storage, faster..etc
go for other rom like noonski, seksona or PDAViet custom rom then you will see much difference.

hi there all touch users !
i am currently considering in getting HTC Touch. I have not used a PDA phone before and this is my first attempt. i am very attracted to the design and size. very sleek and nice design it has. hehe. especially suitable for girls.

some stuff i wana know about this pda before i really buy it:-

how is the camera performance? cos i am quite a camera user here. always taking photos . hahah

does it lag? cos i've read alot of ppl saying it is quite laggy.

another thing is, this pda cant type chinese SMS isit? currently am using SE W850i and it has chinese input for SMS.

i hope you guys can help me out with this questions.

and also, anything u wana add to increase my confidence in getting this pda hp, pls include in the reply:) TQTQ

thanks in advance smile.gif

To be frank, the Touch does not perform well in low light conditions. Anyway, here's an unaltered picture that I took when I was at Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam a week ago. smile.gif

I have CE Star latest edition installed on my Touch, and I can view and write Chinese with ease. For Chinese input, it is like Microsoft IME 3.0 or Chinese Star, you can use "pin yin" to spell it out.

Or, the faster way is to scribble on the screen (like how we normally write Chinese words). CE Star will automatically convert your "drawing" into the appropriate Chinese characters.

Haven't try video playback; no comment on that. As for mp3 playback, the supplied handsfree is not that good. Bass is there but treble is on the higher end of the scale. But still, it sounded OK to my ears (from an audiophile's PoV that is). By the way music playback on the speaker is... horrible. It sounded very "mono" and dull. Moreover the speaker is situated behind the phone, so it sounded muffled when you put the phone on the table doh.gif

chinese character can use cEStarSuiteII and you can write directly instead keying pinyin. for video playback you must use certain converter software to convert original size of your video to fit on 320x240 screen. for normal WMV format 700MB by using smartvideo i can converted to 122MB which allow me to store many videos into my 4G . Max volume playing MP3 doesnt have any cracking sound. for the original headset still acceptable but if you are into more bass then go for something like SE HBH-DS970 headset. and yes like yrh0413 said, touch playback only MONO.

erm... what i meant by "mono" is the speaker playback. Playback through the supplied headset is still stereo though smile.gif

Not only the Touch. PPC's in general. The speakers r more meant for ringtone, alarm and reminder only. For MP3, u'll feel that it sux big time

Well the speaker isn't something to shout about, really. Worst still, it performs badly when you turn on loudspeaker because the speaker fires to the back. doh.gif

@Christyn, you may use it as an mp3 player (in fact that's the secondary use of my Touch; get a 4GB SDHC and you're all set biggrin.gif ). But just try to refrain yourself from listening music through the "dreadful" loudspeaker doh.gif

4gb? hmm. i thought of getting a 2gb card. hmm does those application eat up a lot of memory? just wondering. afraid that in the end even a 2gb card is not sufficient=.=" i am using 1gb memory now with my SE hp. but touch is PPC. hehe i know there's difference.

You can get a 2GB Micro SD for around RM80 from LYP. I got my Kingston 4GB Micro SDHC few days back from LYP too, for RM195 smile.gif They have Sandisk 4GB Micro SDHC too (with a lower price tag, I think around RM170 only), but do note that Kingston's 4GB is Class 4, whereas Sandisk is Class 2 (Class 4 writes at 4MB/sec, Class 2 writes at 2MB/sec). Well worth the extra RM30 smile.gif

As for the apps, it depends on what you plan to install actually. So far the biggest application in my Touch is Microsoft Office Mobile 2007 (around 60MB) and I installed it in my storage card. The rest of the apps like games and other small apps do not take up much of your space. To be frank my 4GB card has 1GB of free space left, as my mp3s occupied most of it blush.gif

Psst... I have more than 1000 songs in my Touch now! laugh.gif
