Er....the test image you gave is not perfectly black. doh.gif

Of course that not full black. That's why few reply above I say 90-95% black.
I think it almost same tone with wechat shake. So can standardize the way to test green tint.

My previous black LG unit I didt test with this picture because I can see the green lol (not super serious but can see with naked eyes)

It just up to you. Because some people think that is a BS...

Exactly. OLED very good in "displaying" black. It just turned off the LED. Problem comes when it is super dim, not black.
All OLED have some kind of tint in "near black" image display.

That's why I said, non of the OLED is perfect.

By the way, why would you think I'll give you a black image? Haha...

Ah I see. I thought it only happened in pure black colour. I thought when people say super dim they were referring to the environment not the screen colour lol. Now I get it.

Anyway I just tried it on my P20 Pro which has Samsung AMOLED. It's only significant in pitch black environment and the noise is grey. Would not even notice this in daily use. But I guess the Mate 20 Pro is more significant. Otherwise why now only people notice it?

Well what I can say is that Mate 20 Pro is bit special in this case. You can notice it during normal use also since the green tinted will grow larger.

People mention super dim green tint was extreme dark condition + 0-10 screen brightness + screen displaying color to appear the green tint.
So there mostly appear on these super dark Grey color.

Some unit was bad enough to see it under 25% brightness + normal color + normal light condition. (like my previous unit)
But increase brightness a bit up to 25%. Green gone.

I can't draw a circle conclude all m20p was behaved like what I say above. But mostly condition was same. If worst... Please go sc otherwise hurt your user experiences

Is some sort of butterfly effect or domino effect. haha..

At 1st, OLED screen it self is not perfect.
Then Mate 20 Pro have a serious screen defect which you will see some sort of green bleed from the edge of the screen.
The defect unit you can even see the green in bright environment.

Then ngam ngam people found that in dark environment, dimmest screen display, Mate 20 Pro will show "green" in grey image or near black image (Wechat shake screen or wechat scan screen).

Then people started to thought the extreme condition green is an issue. Even if the green didn't notice at all in normal use, people still feel uncomfortable about it. tongue.gif

Yes got my refund which directly dealt with Huawei Country Director. Less than a week usage from launched, the issue surface for me and the green spread gradually. Opt for refund since dont feel comfortable of it and not confidence of this issue.

Now use Mate 20x since last Friday. Hopefully no any issue.

I requested for refund last week at service center. The refund was approved by Huawei at the end however I need to return my set back to the merchant or seller in order to get back the money from the merchant or seller then Huawei will replace or exchange the new set to the merchant or the seller. My problem now is I purchased the set thru online, the seller is from KL and I am here in Penang so not feasible for me to travel to KL just hand in my set to the seller so I suggested to just hand in my set to Penang service center because at the end of the day the defect set need to go back Huawei. Still unable to contact the merchant or seller right now, dilemma...ing
Anyone have the contact number of SmartGadget from Qoo10?

I don't gave a M20P but my friend was looking to get one. Seems like most places are out of stock, probably is due to this issue?

So what's the best possible screen in this situation? If get an LG -> green tint in 0-10% brightness. If 20% also still can see green tint, exchange it?

If get BOE panel, it's the same but red tint?

Ya. I think the second event is an aftermath that is not related.

Actually the director is messenger only. He just ask his staff to call me to follow up the refund when he gave me options to choose.

In 0% brightness and dark environment. BOE screen you will see top red, bottom green/purple. in grey or near black image. In China, they called it "Yin Yang Screen".

BOE screen seems doesn't have the severe green issue like LG (The one can even see in bright environment). But it has other defects (not all, just small numbers).

Aiyo, every phone have some % of defect la, that's why they give warranty.

Many places out of stock ar, but if your friend get one now, should be BOE screen. I think the new batch is all BOE screen.
