Can't wait to try this new router from Asus, RT AX88U 802.11AX featuring OFDMA & MU-MIMO.

Supports 160MHz bandwidth and 1024-QAM to provide WiFi speed of up 6000Mbps :
1148Mbps on 2.4GHz band & 4804Mbps on 5GHz band which is over twice as fast as 802.11ac 4×4 dual-band routers.

No AX devices in the market yet.

Only advantage is 160Mhz which only few devices supported.

Im wondering whether the OFDMA will actually happening on the 80MHz or even 20/40MHz band or it has to be coupled in 80+80=160MHz to work... as the subcarrier has been significantly been narrowed in 802.11ax.
*
As far as I know if the tech is similar to LTE, OFDMA will subdivide a channel into sub-channels so should work with any channel configuration. My 2 cents, correct me if I'm wrong.

Main advantage is of AX is mainly efficiency and standardized 1024QAM support which means Gigabit WiFi is more possible now. Imagine peak link speed of 1200Mbps even on entry level AX device.

Anyone know if the recently released TP-Link Archer C6 is reliable enough to support TIME 500Mbps over wired?

I know it's only AC1200 over wifi, but I'm not too concerned, as long as the LAN connection over the Gigabit ports and the overall reliability is as good as the more expensive C7.
*
Guess what, even 1G over wired LAN is possible. Tried and tested.

Not sure how it will handle when having a lot of devices connected tho. But on 3 devices, 1G is definitely achievable.

If you want to read more details, check my review.

Dear sifu, how come when at night i switch off my tplink, after next day morning i turn on, always cannot connect internet, need me go inside tplink admin to click connect, but the setting is choose auto
*
Do you happen to use the provided C1200?

The firmware on that unit isn’t perfect. But all my other TP-Link routers do not have this issue.

1Gbps WiFi speedtest on the Asus RT-AX88U.

Yup, it is totally possible to reach 1Gbps over WiFi (930Mbps after Ethernet overhead). But, this is not a practical example. The distance between router and receiver need to be super close to achieve this.

I expect WiFi 6 (Wireless AX) to enable true 1Gbps WiFi in the future. Right now we can only experiment AX routers with AC WiFi adapter and it is already showing improvements.

Thanks. It's hard to choose between Tenda AC18 or TP Link Archer C9. Don't know which 1 perform better in overall (wide coverage, stable connection and faster speed). Anyone here tested these 2, mind to share how's the performance and max speed on both ?
*
Get the C2300, it is miles ahead of both and being relatively inexpensive.

Both the Tenda AC18 and TP-Link C9 have really old chipset.

Hi guys, want to ask you here. Does anyone who subscribed to 1Gbps and connected via LAN cable manage to get true 1Gbps or more?

I just curious cause seems it hard to get real 1Gbps when doing speedtest.net but sometime you manage to get it... Itu pun when glitch happen like below video. Usually I will get speed like 930-950Mbps in my Mac.

*
It is technically not possible to get 1000Mbps due to TCP overhead. Those 1000Mbps figure you see are due to inaccuracy when doing a speedtest.

TIME is not shortchanging you but this is the technology limitation we got to live with today unfortunately.

QUOTE(lyrilmaki @ Dec 16 2018, 12:08 AM)
The router given AC1200 like sai weh..

Sometime the LAN cannot detect at all, force me to change different LAN port..

Got any budget router recommended?

Is Mi router 3 or 4 gooding?
*
The best budget router in the market right now is the TP-Link Archer C6. Up to Gigabit speed over LAN and up to 500Mbps over WiFi.

guys, what's the best bang for buck router that support TIME at this point of time?

I need to have high speed WiFi and LAN, a lot of devices will be connected at the same time, and I need high network transfer speed and NAS media server for my samsung smart TV. I am using DNS-320 right now. Planning to upgrade after I upgrade my router.

ASUS router having offer right now:

Definitely the Blue Cave. It comes with an Intel SoC with pretty decent performance for WiFi. LAN is definitely fine.

WiFi is great, good coverage.

*
Consider TP-Link Archer T6E.

Don't get USB based adapter, they perform poorly.

Nope, get at least TP-Link Deco M5 for 500Mbps reliably.

Thank you.

Can you suggest a good wifi router 1300sqft apartments with 4rooms?

My tenants complained that the speed is unstable in bedrooms eventhough connected in 2.4ghz ady.
I though Deco M5 only supports up to 300mbps only?

That's BS, these sellers don't test the stuffs they are selling.

Honestly speaking, getting 500Mbps is only possible if you stand in front of the router and you are using very good device with good WiFi receiver.

I see. But Deco M9 Plus seems like a better. Will it cover a space of 1300sqft?
*
1300sqft is not that big, even an entry level can cover it.

Buying a more expensive router will give you better overall performance.

Remember to turn on fast roaming to make the entire experience even better.

TP-Link Deco series is the closest to Google WiFi of all mesh systems I tried.

If LOS is blinking that means there is an equipment fault.

Could be fiber cut or maintenance.

Currently try it out on my note 9 and can only reach 500++, are there any setting that I miss it out?

the router connect to the modem using Cat6a ( 10gb max ) cable.
And the wifi router is 1.3g + 1.3g on 5ghz .

Anyone have any ideas?

That's the maximum speed on WiFi for normal devices.
