Well I am routing my traffic for NA/EU through my personal VPN for now as a band aid, obviously it is not ideal though

Yep, doing this as well... it helps a bit but isnt a longterm solution. I am super annoyed that I am forced to do that vmad.gif

For Europe traffic, time relies very much on AAE-1 submarine cable. There was a news in Feb this year mentioning one of the 4 sea sub cables damaged... anyway no solid evidence proofing that to be the AAE-1.
*
Actually the Wikipedia article of AAE-1 under incidents states AAE-1 was damaged in Feb 2024.
Links to news sources at bottom of the page:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/AAE-1

In any case this would be a partial explanation.
We could also consider the Israel/Iran situation or the flooding in Dubai.

However:
The connection quality to Europe was already bad before these incidents.

According to my source, the fault happen somewhere near Singapore within Indonesia's water

It shouldn't take long to get it fixed

Luckily it doesn't happen anywhere near the red sea or the middle east
*
What are your sources?

Long time ago I really liked http://internettrafficreport.com/ as you could see if anything is wrong anywhere.

Nowadays however a lot of problems that appear are covered up by CDNs - which on one hand is good as it reduces downtimes; on the other hand problems with something that cant be cached or isnt on CDN arent getting the visibility needed to get things fixed quicker.

Facebook & TikTok users arent effected much means for most ISPs no need to take action 🤬

Same, very slow for me. Connection to EU for work hang or lag.
Quite bad.

Got multiple calls today from TIME regarding this issues (due to my MCMC complaint).
They say they are currently flooded with complaints but cant do much due to the submarine cable problems.

My questions why Maxis and Digi obviously have managed to secure better routing was just answered with a chuckle…

So yeah; I will see for another 1… max 2 weeks and expect substantial improvement in lse I just change.

Response from TIME through MCMC:

QUOTE
Based on the update from our tech support, currently, we are experiencing a latency issue that is impacting our network performance.
This is due to a fault in the submarine cable, which is a critical component of our international data transmission infrastructure.
Our technical team is actively working with international partners to address this problem.

We anticipate that the repair work on the submarine cable will take approximately 2-3 weeks to complete.
During this period, you may notice slower than usual internet speeds or intermittent connectivity issues.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
Any inconvenience caused is much regretted.

2-3 weeks. Should at least offer some kind of compensation.
Anyway... lets see.

Currently my most stable option for connections to Europe is PrivadoVPN through Mexico City ranting.gif bangwall.gif

Any news about going back to normal ?
*
I see no improvement yet.

They said fixing will 2-3 weeks minimum.
2 weeks from incident would be over this coming Friday….

Anyway you dont see many news about this for some reason.
I think as long as FB, IG etc work because of their mirrored CDN; the bigger part of internet users wont complain… so lets see and hope it gets fixed within the estimated timeframe.

It is not suggested to disable IPv6.

You may set both IPv4 and IPv6 DNS in WAN section of the settings.
*
Why would that be “not suggested”?

Let's see.

ATTN. Tech. Guys in Time, "time for reckoning"  Keep it UP! biggrin.gif

It has nothing to do with the techs from TIME.
There are submarine cables broken and need fixing. Thats out of hand of TIME techs.

What TIME could do is buy different peering / routing but that costs money that they dont wanna spend.

So for now nothing is better, do not just assume based on a temporary "oh my pings / connections got better".

My suggestion is to follow this thread here for the time being: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/5453176

A) there are more background information
B) a couple of people including myself post longterm ping tests.

2Gbps but only 500Mbps upload speed is a joke.

Seems like you fell victim to marketing talk and theoretical/test environment numbers ...
...at this stage are you seriously expecting 2Gbps on a wireless connection with consumer grade equipment?

The speed you get is actually already pretty good, surely can be improved, but I dont know your environment.

The "2 Gbps Wifi6 Router" offered by TIME is a router capable of 2Gbps combined with Wifi6.
While Wifi6 theoretically can do what... 9.6Gbps over multiple channels... realistic real-world speeds for Wifi6 per device are more or less in the range you have now.

if one is using 2Gbps, do u think he will restrict himself to wireless?
obviously anyone will just use wired to overcome the limitation of wireless to get full speed..
*
Well you edited your post.
Now it says “wired” while it didn't say this before.

And if you get this speeds with wired now too, then what cable are you using? What network card in what computer? E.g. you wont get better speeds if your computer (NIC, CPU or harddisk, cable) cant handle it.
