Yes, select the cellular plan (eSIM) to transfer over during this process.

Hello, I just transfer from old iPhone to new iPhone but my esim doesn’t transfer together. And I tried to scan the QR code it doesn’t work anymore. I’m using maxis business plan anyway

You have to request new QR to transfer new device

Nope. As usual maxis is very stingy, for postpaid only.
CODE

Who is eligible to activate eSIM?

Maxis eSIM is available for all Maxis mobile postpaid customers including Hotlink Postpaid Flex and Corporate plans. It is available for new line registrations and existing customers.

Damn! I was thinking to get maxis/hotlink telco as data only to use on my iphone xs max’s secondary eSim. Primary is using physical nano sim Celcom.
Celcom + Maxis is the best combination IMHO, should the area i go into don’t have much Celcom coverage.

Other prepaid eSims that i discovered are:

Yoodo
Redone
XOX
Digi

Yoodo, Redone & XOX rides on Celcom MVNO yes? So no point on getting them as i already have celcom as primary.
While Digi, i don’t really trust much on its coverage as it could be bad though.

Checked the Hotlink Postpaid Flex package offer:

RM60 for 40GB data - will revert back to 30GB after 1 year
RM40 for 20GB - revert to 12GB after 1 year

Kinda pricy. doh.gif

Even if u chosed digi as backup esim, they're already merging with celcom so in a year or two they'll also be sharing same tower network. Currently your only choice for cheap esim is digi prepaid, but soon your only choice will be maxis after celcomdigi merger completed.

1 year? I think for Celcom to be able to use Digi network and Digi network to be able to use Celcom network, would take up to 5 years.

By that time, Maxis prepaid should have eSIM or else they'll lose more subscribers. Future iPhone probably will move to eSIM only.

You got a valid point there.

Yes hopefully that is the case.

By the way, i just discovered yet another MVNO telco that rides on MAXIS network. It’s a prepaid but the package is quite interesting:

RM170 per year - 60GB
5gb/month

RM420 per year - 180GB
15gb/month

Ansar Mobile, which was operating on RedTONE company

But the downside is, they only offer physical nano sim.

So perhaps i should convert my primary celcom to esim, and Ansar mobile secondary on physical nano sim. hmm.gif

What do you guys think?

Instead of doing that why not just just use hotlink physical sim with celcom esim? Or just use digi prepaid esim, the merger complete and tower sharing would still be long away from now. I would never use the unknown mvno. Legit haven't even heard of that name before and legit i thought maxis doesn't have any mvno. An unknown company with literally zero advertising is a nope lol.

The issue with Maxis and Celcom is that only postpaid has eSIM.

We want eSIM from Maxis for prepaid. That's the issue.

For Celcom, there's workaround.. MVNO, and you're right I rather not use unknown company. But again, for Celcom there are good MVNO's.. Yoodo the best, and .. not so good but still good alternative is TuneTalk.

Never heard of them.. maybe can check with Maxis whether legit or not, but even if they are.. and if they don't offer eSIM.. I might as well just use Hotlink.

Yoodoo is going off soon isn't? or it will continue to stay?

Also, i am quite new in esim tech.
I understood that we can only use either one of the cellular data per 1 sim (physical or esim). cannot run BOTH at the same time?

so considering this scenario:

let say i have exhausted my primary celcom data, and i would like to switch to secondary maxis postpaid esim to use the data, how should i do it? Do i need to manually select the cellular option to choose on Secondary in settings?
or iphone esim can have some sort of smart cellular data management auto switchover function?
Say it will auto switch to maxis data if i can't get reception on my celcom?

also, using dual nano + esim will definitely drains the iphone faster because connecting to two networks will be more taxing than one yes?

Celcom has been given 18 months to either close or sell Yoodo. Merge was in 12/22.. so there's still 16 months. Hopefully will get sold so don't need to close. However, there might be new T&C.

I'm not iPhone user. I'm Android user.

Should be the same for iPhone and Android.. cannot run data on both SIM. You pick default SIM for data. You have to switch your data SIM manually, in settings.

Dual SIM should not drain the battery. The battery used for the network standby on backup SIM shouldn't be too much. You can experiment with it.

If you look for how to save battery tips on the Internet.. there's no mention of having dual SIM consumes battery.
