Hi guys, my wife and I have been discussing about starting a family, so we would like to find out more about any good doctors or gynaecologist recommendation in KL?

What about hospitals then? What are the good hospitals for labour?

And lastly, recommendation for confinement centres.

Thank you!

Assuming both of you not having any problem, you do not need to find any gynae until your wife if officially pregnant. As per labour is concern, it depends on your budget.

Do couples do any test or checkup before trying to get pregnant?

what is average price for C-section and normal birth?

I remember there's pre-marriage testings that includes Thalessemia, HIV etc.
But honestly, most of us don't do that, unless you suspect possibility of HIV, STI etc.

If you're talking about fertility screening, just try to conceive and if 6 months with no result, only then consult doctor about fertility. 6 months but also depends on age, whether can both still afford to wait? If you are both young, give yourself a year.

Yes you can do preliminary screening if have any concern. You may try to conceive naturally for at least 1 year before seeking help should it does not work.

As per C-section, i do not know the cost as i deliver naturally for both times. Much much cheaper, i can vouch to that.

Oh... I guess I received wrong information then... because I am used to the thought of having a test to check if our bloods are "close" (as in family related or something) so as to not cause inbred or something.

We are both approaching 30, that is considered as old, right? hahah

Yea, that's one of the things that we are worried about also.

I had my delivery in government hospital. Cost less than RM100 for both times, normal delivery. 3rd class ward. Warded 1 night (first born) and 2 nights (second born) at Hospital Selayang.

Na da... 30 yo is not old, considered just nice. Give yourself a year before going for extensive fertility test. There's many level in fertility test and can come up to a few thousands (or more) for overall checking. Start with sperm count test which is the cheapest.

Most importantly... both of you don't feel stressful about trying for baby. Relax.

Both of us are nearly 40 that considered old and high risk. We kena marah by gynae when he ask us why wait so late to conceived especially when he get to know we married more than 15years ago 😬 due to old age and placenta previa we opt for c section.

Despite bad stories we hear from time to time, my experience was overall good. The only downside was to wait few hours for empty bed at the ward, and it has been smooth sailing. My case was very straight forward. Warded overnight, delivered the next day and discharge on the next.

I think all those bad stories were in the past. My wife insist on government hospital and gave birth there three times. We were pretty satisfied and was up to our expectation. Dont expect 5 star service la. The doctors and nurses worked professionally and was helpful. After giving birth, the relevant klinik Kesihatan nurse will come to our house to check our baby on interval occasions. My youngest child's jaundice was quite serious and was required to ward in the hospital a few times.
Price? Most were FOC except for giving birth (natural) which was less than a hundred ringgit.
Therefore i also recommend my friends. But most important is their wife must be comfortable with it.
