RAM is RAM, any brand will do, just need to match frequency, timings and capacity

Battery should be 52Wh which is plenty, expect 7-8 hrs

Alright, thanks

It depends on model. Some models like GL504, Aero 15/15X, GS65 and GM501 have low response times LG & AUO panels - LGD05C0, AUO80ED, AUO71ED. From what I know, GK5CN6Z uses the same LG panel too. You want to know which model?

Low sRGB isn't noticable to some ppl (I can notice a bit only), however I feel like contrast ratio is more important. If it's for indoor use, 220/250 nits (common in low sRGB IPS panels) is plenty. You can fix a bit via Intel Graphics Control Panel, but not much.

There will be no overheating since you are actually doing GPU undervolting. Max-Q is just a downclocked card, that's all. It will not void warranty.
*
The list of models you suggested previously : N950TP6, GK5CN67, Laguna, Onyx, 15-dc0126TX, Y530.
Hope their 144Hz dsplay is good enough?

Ok, so you are saying low sRGB is acceptable? I know this is subjective but too bad there's no chance to try.

If the card is downclocked, could I reverse it to be as good as the typical notebook GTX 1060 out there? Perhaps specifically for this G7 model / max-q?

N950TP6: 120Hz IPS (normal) for Commandos Carbine 5, 120Hz TN for Level51 W15 Lite
Raven Elite (GK5CN67): 144Hz IPS (normal), not 100% sure though
Laguna: 144Hz IPS (normal), not 100% sure though
Onyx (GK5CN5Z/6Z): 144Hz LG (low response times)
HP Omen 15 dc: 144Hz IPS (normal)
Y530: 144Hz IPS (normal)

You can try out yourself. See can differentiate or not. Some ppl don't care about low sRGB

In general most models with Max-Q cards can be tuned with this trick, not for those with bad cooling though.

Never heard of that model. GT75 got lah

Should be around the same with GS73VR. Mediocre cooling (fan speed too low) and OK-good build quality. All GS series models are pretty much the same

sry typo it's gs73vr..

Illegear Onyx (TongFang GK5CN6Z) - good build quality, OK-good cooling
Commandos Katana 5 (on sale) or Level51 Prime 15 (Clevo P950EP6) - OK-good build quality, mediocre cooling
MSI P65 8RE - OKish build quality, mediocre cooling

m15 has good build quality and cooling but too expensive

Do you mind GPU lower than 1060?

1. Acer Spin 5 13 - convertible
2. Lenovo Ideapad 720s 13 81BR0055MJ - CPU performance and battery life issues
3. HP Envy x360 13-AG0001AU - convertible, only 2c4t Ryzen 3, battery life issue
Note that all models above have good sRGB IPS but soldered RAM

I excluded 13 inch models with 4GB non upgradable RAM

Now my heart is focused on HP Omen 15-dc0126TX.
Any comments in terms of build, cooling, support etc that I need to take note of?
