Depends on model

If you prefer regular ones:
Acer Swift 3 SF314-54G +RAM
Acer Swift 3 SF315-51G - soldered RAM
Lenovo Yoga 520 (i5-8250U) +RAM (1 slot only)

With smaller battery:
HP Pavilion 15 cs0033tx +RAM+SSD
HP Pavilion 14 ce0082/83tx +RAM
HP Pavilion x360 14 cd0036tx +RAM

All have low sRGB IPS display. Needs undervolting

Alright, thanks a lot, I'll probably be looking out for laptops during the 11.11 sale that's around the corner

What about SSDs? which brands are better? or can i just pick one and insert into the laptop?

and are there any compatibility issues for ssd and ram?

Hi folks.

I initially decided on Helios 300 but it doesn't have a DP or miniDP.
So I set my heart on Asus GL504GM such as GL504G-MES238T or
GL504G-MES193T. However, I read about QC issues and Asus poor customer service.

I read about recommendations (especially from ZM Fong) with similar specs:
HP Omen 15-DC0126TX
Illegear Onyx
Illegear Z7 (this is 17 inch right?)
Illegear Raven Elite
Illegear Laguna
MSI GP63 8RE (Leopard?)
Asus Zephyr M

My budget is around RM5 to 6k (if necessary, i may stretch it to 6.5k but if there no real need, I want to keep it at 6k).

I am looking at 8750H, 8Gb RAM, GTX 1060 6Gb, 1TB HDD (maybe SSHD) + 256Gb SSD, IPS 144Hz with high sRGB and a DP (mini-DP is similar right?).

Weight and battery life are secondary.

For work including some programming and occasional AAA gaming.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

If you're not going for Asus and wanted 144Hz IPS:
Illegear Raven Elite (TongFang GK5CN67)
HP Omen 15-dc0126TX
Illegear Laguna
Lenovo Legion Y530 (customize)
Commandos Carbine 5 (Clevo N950TP6) - desktop CPU
Illegear Raven - USB C no DP

If you're fine with 120Hz TN:
MSI GP63 8RE
Level51 W15 Lite (Clevo N950TP6) - desktop CPU

Thanks for the input.
You removed Illegear Onyx and Illegear Z7. Any reason why?
Is Clevo better than TongFang?
Would using desktop CPU on a notebook makes the heating worse? I read that the power adaptor would be heavier.

Onyx isn't in your budget for the 1060 model if I remembered correctly. Z7 doesn't offer high refresh rate panel upgrade.

Clevo and TongFang both have their pros and cons. Also depends on model

Using desktop CPU doesn't bring any bad thing since mobile BGA chips are actually binned worse. They will run hotter if they have the same specs with the desktop LGA ones. In fact 8th gen mobile chips already run hot. Moreover, the repair cost will be cheaper if the mobo goes wrong. Power adapter depends on specs

1. Budget : 2-5k
2. Usage : Streaming PS4 gaming (yes I know can use PS4 share button to stream but lack of customisation, also wanna buy portable video capture card), playing PC exclusive games, video editing
3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) : Doesn't matter, as long can >60fps for most modern games

Hi, 144hz IPS and 120hz TN and normal 60hz IPS what difference?
*
144Hz IPS: wide viewing angles, usually better colour accuracy out of the box
120Hz TN: low response times (no ghosting)

There is 144Hz IPS with low response times (one LG, one AUO, forgot the exact panel)

60Hz IPS has many panel model, which means different colour quality

Any preference on battery life? Prefer Ultrabook/regular laptop or gaming/performance laptop?

You need a 1060 then. Can consider these with CFL-H i5:
1. Commandos Carbine 5 / Level51 W15 Lite (N950TP6) with desktop CPU
2. Lenovo Legion Y530 (customize)
3. Illegear Raven

I suggest you to go for high refresh rate panels for better colour accuracy. The default panel for the models above has low sRGB

At least give a range for budget. Preferred max weight in kg? Any preference on display size, display quality and battery life?

No preference on battery life as long not terribly short battery life. Prefer on ultrabook / regular laptop as almost no gaming at all.

Acer Swift 3 15 - soldered RAM
HP Pavilion 15 cs0033tx +RAM+SSD - small battery
Lenovo Thinkpad E585 +SSD (R5-2500U, W10 Home, FHD IPS, 4+4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, 65W USB C charger) - short battery life
Lenovo Ideapad 330s 15 +RAM - with Radeon GPU+52Wh battery

These are decent but I still cannot 100% recommend them for now (need more info):
Acer Aspire A515-52G +RAM+SSD
Asus Vivobook S530
