Yea thats the absolute max budget i can go for... no weight preference / battery life...as long as its a good value for money
*
If that's the case , Nitro 5 would do the trick

You can run Triple AAA titles in native 1080p with Medium settings also , eSport games would be fine (if you are into that) - since your budget is super tight

Again it depends how picky you are. If you are okay to scale down and play in low/medium at 1080p ...

guys, what's the cheapest gaming laptop available now? I dun need those powderful ones. not gonna play those high graphics game. more on dota 2, anno 1800 etc
*
https://store.illegear.com/game-ready-perfo...gear-raven.html

Illegar Raven ? For RM 3k , you get a decent GPU - works well with eSports

Anno 1800 - might work if you crank down the settings

Unless you want it to be even cheaper...

QUOTE(TTMCD @ Apr 23 2019, 12:20 PM)
Budget: RM3000 - RM3500
Usage :  iTunes to backup iphone, Watch Youtube , Office Work (using Microsoft Word, Excel file), browsing web
Requirement: Must can install the latest version of iTunes , if possible Able to run Photoshop cause future might need this

*  Something Fast & Multitask Friendly. (Wont lag when opening a lot of tab of program)

* Laptop's Ram upgradability

* Got Service Centre at KL, don't want to get caught out not being able to service it under warranty if needed.

* I don't require touch screen or 2-in-1. Would appreciate any suggestions, thanks!
*
My take is to pick up a good MacBook Pro 2012/2013 model and upgrade it. The reason being is that iTunes on Windows is pretty much !@#@$

If you use iPhone a lot - i mean a LOT - consider getting a mac for the synergy - not sure if you can pick up a new mac for under 3.5k , i have not been keeping touch with it

I see, TQ for your suggestion, but Apple MacBook not in my consideration, im not sure whether other laptop can use latest version of iTunes or not if can use then no need worry bout iTunes, Do You have any other suggestion TQ
*
Then anyone would do - you can look at similiar suggestion for that price range

Seriously - if you are an iTunes/heavy iPhone user - consider getting Mac. I am an ex-mac , ex-iphone user , so I know about this

QUOTE(O-haiyo @ Apr 23 2019, 02:24 PM)
thanks alot
*
Best bang for buck , custom-made tested , for RM 2999 it's pretty good....1050 is okay for eSports and other light gaming (you can play most games at full hd medium settings anyway)

actually, i don't really care much on the graphics. able to run game smoothly without lag is sufficient for me. do i still need get a gaming laptop?
*
Define smoothly

You okay as long can whack at any resolution/any graphics settings ?

I need to know smooth , also smooth in DOTA can mean latency/lag

So be clear on the requirements here , graphics details or how...?

no, not latency or lag issue.
as long as can display nicely - not boxy and no need very high details also.
something like the movement is smooth?  sweat.gif
*
I still can't understand your requirement , however if you are looking for cheaper one - it's here

https://www.lazada.com.my/products/lenovo-i...vyRRD9&search=1

less gaming looks

https://www.lazada.com.my/products/dell-gam...idahb5&search=1

If you want , I can also suggest some business laptops - like AMD A-series

Yes - these lower end ones can still play the game at a lower resolution....

Windows 10 should work.....unless you are on 7 or iTunes really needs a new CPU....

I dont think it exists , even if it does. It's super expensive , battery technology has gotten better

Only some older thinkpas have external batteries , even that there are internal batteries

Hi, want to ask +RAM +SSD on the behind meaning what? add on?

AND i check two of the model at levono website, Thinkpad E590 RM2829 realtek wireless 8822be 2x2  VS Thinkpad E580 RM2839 intel dual band wireless-ac 3165 , Price and other Spec Thinkpad E590 is better than  Thinkpad E580 , The only thing im want to find out is
(realtek wireless 8822be 2x2 ac VS intel dual band wireless-ac 3165  ) Wireless card is it intel one better/faster?

tq
*
Both of it are okay , tw for E580 you can change to 2x2 adapter also. Again for your daily use it would be alright

1x1 module will grant you to 433Mbps , in actual world 80Mbps etc..If your Internet speed is like 800Mbps Unifi , maybe not but if it is < 100Mbps ..it's fine also

Opt for E580 (cheaper) and pimp up on SSD and others. I know some of us would say install outside , if you are lazy like me , just get it installed

QUOTE(k!nex @ Apr 24 2019, 06:49 PM)
For wireless adaptor. The intel 3165 is a 1x1 module. Theoritical speed can hit 433Mbps. 2x2 module can hit theoritical 866Mbps. 99% of the time, Intel wireless adaptor has better drivers from the rest like Atheros, Realtek and Broadcom.
*
I disagree , Broadcom does it way better - especially if you use broadcom router like me. Intel is okay-ish..so far no problem but it's okay-ish

Thanks. looking into it as well.

What are your views on Thinkpad L series 380 / 480? L series or E series better?

I'm not using laptop on daily basis, usually 3-5 days/week and not playing games, is it worth to buy Thinkpad T480?
*
Okay , here is the simple thing

E series = Consumer series - Basically you get okayish build quality with their good keyboard + trackpoint

L series = It's a step-up from E series. You get some of the things from the expensive thinkpad like better build quality , MIL spec , spill proof

T series = Legendary series - It's best of the best that one can afford and to buy

So to be honest it depends how long you want the laptop to last. If you want it to be super long , consider T/L series. If you are on a budget , E series would do the trick

So I read that E is just a consumer series with Thinkpad label. While L is more like 20% of the T series, which makes me wondering if its really worth it getting E4xx over the Ideapad, Swift 3, Matebook or Spin series.

Read that E series is improved now, and consumer series is improving too? But when I search Thinkpad quality equivalent, people still recommend Thinkpad.  laugh.gif Any explanation for this?
*
E series is just improved over normal consumer laptop. It's for prosumers and want the legendary Thinkpad look and feel + the keyboard

L series is more like 60% of it . The reason why people say get Thinkpad is that you can easily upgrade some of the things yourself without voiding the warranty and plus you can find spare parts easily to replace it. It's designed for enterprise use - so you know companies dont change laptop every 2 years

Found this Level 51 - Forge 15 laptop, spec quite not bad
https://www.level51pc.co/welcome/ProductconfigRec/forge-15

Intel® Core™ i7-9750H Processor
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1050 3GB
8GB (8GB x 1) DDR4 2666MHZ
256GB M.2 NVME ULTRA FAST SSD
1TB Toshiba HDD
Windows 10 64 Bit

Total - MYR3723

But they didn't have 100% sRGB options, their screen is only at 72% sRGB. My questions is that, does 72% sRGB sufficient for minor design or video editing? Or it is preferably to have 100% sRGB for student / future working purpose as a designer?
*
Umm for that price it is okay , nothing much to shout about ....later you can buy a monitor and just get 100% sRGB..for student work , if you are learning designing , it should be fine

QUOTE(diaBoliQu3 @ Apr 26 2019, 07:23 PM)
Thank you for conforming this. I'll try to customize the L series first and compared with other laptop that you recommended in the previous post. For unknown reason, I'm really hooked by the Thinkpad although I admit the design is quite boring when compared to others.
Thank you for detail explanation regarding L series > E series in your previous post too. What you mentioned above really make sense to me.

The reason I'm very fussy this time because my previous Inspiron 5437 caused me quite issue. The plastic casing suddenly crack few months out of the factory. Somehow I admire their superb warranty service, they replace the casing on the spot after complaint. Then the CPU fan stop working after few years causing overheating issue. Not sure if its my fault for swapping the RAM which I done many times in other laptop and computer, there's an electrical spark + fire + smoke at the power plug slot. doh.gif

And that's how I kinda interested with business series laptop. But again I'm typing this from my wife's old Asus A43S. It's thick, bulky, heavy, and the OEM battery  last less than 2 hours, still it served me well and proved me consumer laptop is not that bad considering luck is on our side. laugh.gif Ironically, I used to avoid Asus due to the slow service at Kuching, but that was years ago.  hmm.gif
*
Thinkpad have boring design , over the years it has not evolved much except now they make in grey colour and carbon fibre...apart from that it just's boring....

This or get Swift or Zenbook at similar price?

RM3,470.11 after eCoupon. Anyway, is the eCoupon got expired date? Or the coupon is just a gimmick from my Google search record?
*
T480 is legendary. You can upgrade the battery , the RAM , HDD , even add WLAN card....I say just go pick and get it

The extra money you can upgrade , T-series are known for their durability....

Thank you again for such informative reply. I learn so much in this forum.
I'm actually fine with the design however I'm more concerned of the display (sRGB). But again its a business laptop, not multimedia. After all this laptop is intended for a lot of office related task and web browsing.

It would be nice to experience the display or maybe testing some similar display laptop.
Thank you. smile.gif
*
sRGB , then you would need to opt for the higher Adobe Display , I think it's for X1 Carbon/Extreme Series if you really need the fine display for creative stuff

Hi again, after discussion with my gf, she decided to take my laptop and ill want to get a new one for myself. I use laptop all the time and browse through the web and play casually such as World of Tank and Neverwinter with my laptop, not the best(using minimum setting) any suggestion of laptop that can suit my usage? Not opting for expensive lappy tho.

Price budget...for some people RM 15k might be cheap also smile.gif

1. Budget : RM3.5k, can push it up to 4k max
2. Usage  : Basic word processing (have to be able to handle multiple word/pdf tabs being opened; watching streams, youtube etc.; light gaming, i.e. games dont need to be at maximum graphic setting (Dota 2, older single player games like medieval total war, fallout new vegas. Best if able to play modern titles but not a requirement)
3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) : -

Display - prefer to have a bigger display (current asus laptop is at 15in)

Looks of the laptop - Prefer a laptop that looks professional and not too "gaming laptop" (I know it sounds like a weird requirement but I may have to bring it to work in a fairly conservative environment)

Reliability & warranty - Prefer to have a hassle free laptop that doesnt need to be send for repairs every few months due to hardware fault

Battery life - not a requirement but a good plus point to have.

Weight - not a requirement but a good plus point to have.

Thank you so much for helping out!!  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif
*
Nuff said - Thinkpad series. It's professional and screams business

Either opt for T480 (it's pretty cheap now , upgrade to MX150). mx150 should able to handle all the games you throw at it - light @ 720p or you can get L480/E480

A485 - I know ZM Fong would say lower battery life - but the AMD APU combination will beat the stupid Intel UHD graphics. You can easily game , and can push Medium/High settings with 720p. It's giving same performace as MX150 combination

I would also look for that and also you can opt for touch screen version which is nice for office productivity - because you can highlight/adjust etc. Plus the AMD APU is way ahead vs Intel GPU..so it's like a getting low end graphics card

Hi ZM Fong, i interested on 15.6" Screen , Screen is bigger and come with Extra Number Pad on right hand side,
Above Yellow Hightlight  is 15.6" Screen but i3- 8th generation,

1) should i upgrade to i5- 8th generation on levono website itself, since you suggest RAM and Storage upgrade myself,

2) suggestion to not upgrade at Lenovo Website because Lenovo Website charge higher on Upgrade, AND upgrade myself to save cost but what to do with the previous installed one (RAM/HDD/SSD), (Sry for Silly question)
*
1) yes i3 and i5 got huge difference

2) DIY - thinkpad you can easily open up and upgrade it to yourself. No void warranty stickers

QUOTE(k!nex @ May 2 2019, 07:20 PM)
If you dont like the look of the Thinkpads (yeah, I think Thinkpads look very uncle , i pick HP Elitebooks for my company because I cannot stand the looks of the Thinkpad), you can go to a more unique path and opt for a xiaomi notebook pro. Go shopee and find sellers. It looks like a macbook pro, it feels like 1 but its not a macbook laugh.gif  As a gaming machine even if its a light duty gaming machine, I think you need to be aware of what the MX150 is . In desktop form, we know it as the GeForce GT1030. MX150 is a weakened version of it for the notebook market.  My opinion is that, at least get a GTX1050Ti or GTX1650 if you want to have any meaningful gaming experience. I myself would suggest you a Lenovo Legion Y530. The whole thing is black like the Thinkpad.
*
I am surprised MX150 can handle games @ 720p. I am using 1050Ti , sadly I cant max out on High @ 1080p - mostly mid/high. I miss my desktop 1060 - at least can whack high settings @ 1080p

Wanna ask about replacement for Asus Zenbook 3 Deluxe UX490UA as my laptop got screen issue and claimed warranty for it. Asus would offer me either cash or another laptop, as there's no more part for UX490UA. So thinking if there's similar build quality for the model as available nowadays.

Any recommendation fella?

1. Budget : Max RM5K

2. Usage : Programming, browsing chrome with running multiple tabs and very light gaming(dota2, indie games)

3.Requirement:
-Display size preferably 15.6 inch and low sRGB IPS is acceptable.
-battery life don't really matter, 4 hrs will be enough, guess most of the time will be plug in.
-weight best is within 2.5kg including power adapter. However it can be heavier if necessary even tho lighter is still preferred.
- Ram is at least 8gb
- Overall is just looking some high performance laptop that can handle frequent multi tasking and able to handle dual-boot with linux.
*
Now that one really limits your option

You see Loonicks hates nvidia graphics , you are going to get far worst off performance with nvidia graphics . However good news is DOTA runs even on potato - which means Intel graphics can handle. Also you can save up some money on buying external GPU (with Firewire)

How important loonicks , err linux is to you compared to gaming .This way I think ZM Fong can give you better recommendations

L580 - since you would like a bigger 15" screen and since you are typing on your laptop. I assume you need a good comfortable keyboard

Nothing beats Lenovo in it. Also you can upgrade the RAM later or even SSD . Since Lenovo charges a bit more expensive , again it would go about RM 3.2 k with all the upgrades
