Y530 does indeed have touchpad driver issue. And there is no driver can be downloaded from the official website which is ridiculous

CFL-H runs hot. It's Intel's fault IMO for making inefficient chips

Budget? Usage? Any preference on weight and battery life? Any other special requirements?

Anyhow, most laptops (e.g the Asus one I listed) or in general are using TN displays then?
*
Many budget laptops do have TN panels, but nowadays IPS panel (low sRGB ones) can be found in more and more budget models

What's wrong with the i5 model? You won't get noticeable more CPU performance

Budget? Usage? Preferred max weight, display size and min battery life? Any other special requirements?

Budget about the range of g7 gtx1060 and msi ge63 8re. I think about 7-6k. Weight battery no issue bcoz i use at home mostly. No other special requirement but i also want to post some videos in youtube. The i7 can handle that.

Is the msi ge63 8re a good laptop? What is the difference between the ge63 8re and the gp63 gtx1060 model. Both got i7 and gtx1060 but price is quite a lot difference about 1k i think. I know the Ge got aluminium body and better rgb. Other than that is it got thunderbolt3? That will justify the price. If not then i think gp63 is good enough.

GP63 and GE63 actually don't have much difference. Even using the same display and cooling. Build quality and input devices are also similar. GE Raider has slightly better chassis material (not saying GP63 is bad) and more flashy. No TB3 for both models. Just be aware that QC+QA in MSI gaming laptops is hit or miss nowadays

Can refer to my gaming laptop approval list for more options

Hi sifus,

Recommendation for laptops?

Budget : 3k max

Usage : 70% movies/ 30% gaming (Far Cry/ COD/ BF)

Display: Size doesn't matter, prefer high quality IPS display

Battery life : above average

Light weight : Preferably less than 2kg

Thanks rclxms.gif

What settings do you play on? Need gaming laptop?

Budget is low for your requirements. Also, prefer minimum how many hours of battery life?

MSi Quality should be better than tongfang i think. Somehow it sounds like pasar malam. Someone always pm me insisted me the tongfang a few times already. I dont want tongfang ok. I decline politely. Ok If im in budget i buy it. Really good specs for money with customize options. Just Higher end model hard to fight the brands AW dell hp msi asus.

We not like in US where buy laptop every 2yrs with 1k only. Malaysia is expensive so it should last for long as long as possible same like car. If only toyota make a laptop that last 20yrs.... Hahaha but ok i think laptop can last about 5yrs with good functionality. Then it starts slowdown outdated.

Ohh I remembered the lenovo shop i went got all y530 model with 1 year accident damage free warranty and 2 years on site warranty. tempting. However my main purpose of buying laptop is not for warranty. Its the satisfaction of using it for years to come.

It's the other way round actually. Try them yourself and you'll know. The build quality is there in TongFang barebones
