1. Budget : Up to 5k
2. Usage  : Office use, chrome, gdrive, light photo editing
3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) :
- display size 13inch
- weight < 1.5kg
- battery life long, at least 8 hours if possible
*
Mind low sRGB display and non-upgradeable RAM? Can accept 14 inch?

Whats your recommendation for price upto 3.5k?
*
Acer Swift 3 SF314-55G-547H
Asus Zenbook UX430U-NGV176T
Acer Swift 5 SF514-52T-50DZ / 59ZV - below average CPU performance, small battery, no dGPU

So you need dGPU? Mind non-upgradeable RAM?

Personally I wouldn't recommend Surface products, don't like their anti-consumer behaviour
Vibrant display - you mean high sRGB?

Need dGPU?
Ryzen 2000 series will have less battery life compared to Intel KBL-R/WHL-U, would suggest other models

Preferred max weight and min battery life? Mind low sRGB display and non-upgradeable RAM?
*
max weight approx 2kg should be fine.
Battery life for office work, preferably 6-8 hours.
sorry but no idea with sRGB display.
prefer with upgradeable RAM but 8GB shall be sufficient for my usage.
was thinkin the envy x360 for awhile as I like the quality build and the portability. swift 3 kinda feels, flimsy though.

Hi, would like to seek recommendation laptop for below and wondering any laptop able to meet spec below?

1. Budget : Rm4000 ( ok with refurbished, after read up some other thread here)

2. Usage : normal usage for typing, surf internet, online stock trading that will open multiple charts...

3. Processor and RAM :i7 processor, 16gb ( able to compromise with 8gb first and if not enough then can upgrade to 16gb) , min 128gb ssd hardisk..

4. display size: 13-15 inch

5. battery life, weight: doesnt matter..

Found Rm4k Macbook pro 13 inch, 2017 , with spec of processor 2.3Ghz intel core i5, 8gb 2133 mhz LPDDR3, with intel iris Plus Graphics 640 1536mb, does this spec of macbook equivalent performance with the spec of i7? if not, then how much less performance ? does this macbook able to upgrade ram to 16GB?

Never used Macbook before that why exploring..

Your help is much appreciated.

Swift 3 flimsy? hmm.gif

Higher sRGB = more vibrant colours. Fine with low sRGB?

If you never use Macbook before, I suggest you don't use (not bcoz of macOS)

If battery life and weight doesn't matter, why not performance laptops? (aka gaming laptops)

Hello all,

There is not much review out there for the latest Dell Latitude 5000 and 7000 series.

Any thought out here?
I'm looking at the quite affordable 5300 as well as the more premium 7400.

Thanks in advance,

Which exact model? Personally I'll prefer 7000 series for extra features (eg high sRGB display)

Before the recent refresh on May 1, 2019, I used to target 7490 with narrow display bezel.

However, once the new Latitude Line being refreshed, the Narrow Bezel and Thunderbolt 3 comes as standard for 7000 series. USB C Charging is a must option for my current want-to upgrade.

I am eyeing the following
5300
5300 2 in 1
7400

While also, 7400 2 in 1.
But it is very expensive, very exceed my budget. Hence, only the above three.

I haven't own any other Laptop except Dell.
Dell After Sales service is too good to jump ship, its Next Business Day On-Site Repair is too good. And it is global. I'd experience getting my previous Dell repaired in other countries. Super fast, even with parts ship it over.

7400 is all metal.

Why not 5300?

Actually, I made a mistake earlier. I was looking at 13" 7000 series previously, the 7390 not 7490. But the recent 7400 is just slightly wider by a few 0.5". Why not, right? To get more real-estate especially once is working on spreadsheet and coding (easy coding).

I'm merely use the laptop for Work. Width-Smaller (not Thickness), portability, reliability and battery life are important.

5300 has 300 nit/sRGB resolution on the Full HD option.
https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/dell-l...le-with-caption
Also, 5300 has built-in RJ45.

I remember reading that 7400 2 in 1 has lower nit, hence has issue with outdoor viewing.

Do you prefer the all polished metal of 7400, compare to the black 5000 series?

Gonna do more homework.

Since you don't have much requirements, just pick any model from regular laptop list or gaming laptop list (avoid non-upgradeable RAM)

New models don't have reviews yet so can't tell, however 7000 series is usually solid

Hi, what about this model (Lenovo Ideapad 720s - Rm2.6k) vs Dell Inspiron 5480 (Rm3.4k)? Specs are about the same but i think Lenovo is an older model.
