Lenovo Thinkpad T580 with MX150
Acer Aspire 5 A515-52G-547K / 58R8 / 58H9 +RAM+SSD
Acer Aspire 5 A615-51G-53QF +RAM+SSD
Lenovo Ideapad 530s 15 81EV00DVMJ +RAM - no numpad
Lenovo Ideapad 330s-15IKB +RAM

Small battery/short battery life (>4 hrs):
HP Pavilion 15-CS0033TX / 15-CS1026TX +RAM+SSD

1. FYI i5 and i7 don't have much performance difference in KBL-R / WHL-U ULVs due to thermal limitation
2. Vivobooks are generally mediocre
3. Thinkpad E580 cannot handle heat of dGPU

May I know what about
1. i3 8th Gen vs i5 7th gen comparison. Some have written that i3 8th Gen is faster for day to day computing, is that a true statement?
2. May I know how do you undervolt, can you share the link on how you did it? I do recall you did share the link before.

Thank you very much for all the help you rendered to everyone so far.

1. About the same. Depends on your workload, 2c4t ULV might be sufficient
2. https://www.notebookcheck.net/How-to-Lower-...7.213140.0.html (I will do my own, simplified guide in a few days time)

Hello everyone,

I'm back asking again

1. Budget : ~5000

2. Usage :
Mainly for programming work (web development).
Will be using Visual Studio primarily, VS code, VirtualBox for vms, occasional image editing using GIMP

3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) :
Most important requirement is the weight, the lighter the better.
RAM - 16gb
Storage - SSD 256gb minimum
Display 14" >, don't need touch.
Battery, will be plugged in most of the time, so don't think this is too important.

I'm currently looking at the T480p. Want to know if there are other laptops that I should look into.

Also a noobie question, but what configuration of the Surface Pro that I can probably use to replace a laptop ? :| heh

Thank you guys

Got T480p?

Can accept 13 inch? Like mentioned above, you need a good sRGB display

I don't trust Surface products personally

Mind low sRGB display? Mind non-upgradable RAM?
