I go to the local dealer shop here. C3150 out of stock. So good business. The price here around 7++. c5400x around 1299. The rest mostly dlink router. Btw does Asus worth the money in long run with its aimesh?
*
Although Asus routers are more expensive, I think they are still by far the best in terms of stability and support.

Imaging a 4 year old model RT-AC68U still updated with new features every so often and beat many routers at the same range. smile.gif

Hey guy, can suggest a good router for 300 mbps?

For wireless performance

Budget 100-300
*
TP-Link Archer A7 will be a great choice for this model. Not to mention it is really affordable now.

QUOTE(samliang @ Feb 17 2019, 02:17 PM)
Hi guys, would like to ask are there any routers out there can compare with the price and performance of an Archer C3150 v2?
*
TP-Link Archer C2300 actually performs better than C3150 when comparing it with a normal laptop and not some high performance WiFi receiver.

It is a lot better than the stock Unifi router.

Mind sharing your actual purpose for using the Raspberry Pi? I have a spare one too but no idea what to use it for.
*
Not the guy but sharing my own use of RPi.

I am running PiHole which lets me to block ads across my entire network.

You will still see some content based ads like Youtube but most web ads are removed.

QUOTE(SilentVampire @ Feb 17 2019, 10:31 PM)
So, would you recommend C2300 over C3150 in terms of wireless coverage and firmware? I have the C3150 but is considering the C2300 for my other house.
*
I would prefer the C2300 unless you have a PCE-AC88 to utilize the 4x4.

Currently my laptop on support 2.4GHZ( brought it in 2013), need 5 GHZ to connect to school wifi due to wifi congestion and interference, internet connection on 2.4ghz wifi(at my college) can suddenly stop working  bangwall.gif  bangwall.gif  might upgrade to a new laptop probably around 1 year time. Will USB wifi adapter be practical?
*
I did WiFi card upgrade to a few old laptops before. You can explore this option else just stick to USB. smile.gif

hi .. got two questions if you guys/sifus can help me out.

1. what is the best long range wireless router available in malaysia? would like to use it for our community hall

2. is there a solution/software for integrated/centralized wireless router management? in case we have multiple wireless routers from various brands and we want to manage and monitor it through this software management...

thanks in advance
*
For consumer hardware, getting a mesh WiFi system is your best bet with centralized management. TP-Link Deco series is cloud connected and managed by their app.

ASUS Blue Cave AC2600 vs ASUS RT-AC86U AC2900

does ASUS RT-AC86U AC2900 (RM1109) so much better than ASUS Blue Cave AC2600 (RM760) to worth the price increase?
*
Nope, the RT-AC86U added some gaming features here and there.

IMO, the Blue Cave is an amazing WiFi router. It is just 1 place behind the RT-AC86U even on smallnetbuilder.

Am planning to get a modem/router where I can insert Yoodo sim card in. Planning to subscribe to Yoodo internet 50-100GB. Can anyone recommend me a reasonably good modem/router? Thanks
*
The best 4G modem router in the market now is the Huawei B618 but it is expensive.

If you don't care too much about speed, you can consider TP-Link MR6400 or MR200. The only different is Wireless AC on the MR200.

wow. AC5300 pricing at RM825. so high spec but just a little bit more expensive than the blue cave ac2600 that I bought it last week at RM715.  shakehead.gif
*
The Blue Cave will perform better than the DIR-895L and it comes with a firmware that works well. The Intel chipset on the Blue Cave is really that good.

any recommendations for PCIE wifi adapter? Archer T9E still good? or is Archer T9UH reliable even though it's USB? have bad experience with cheaper TP-link USB adapters.
*
Skip all models, they don't even come close to this.

The best PCIE WiFi Adapter is ASUS PCE-AC58BT now. It comes with the latest Intel 9260 chipset with really good signal sensitivity.

I reviewed it here.

After turbo-upgraded the modem+router what u guys do with the Dlink DIR615 or keep it as a spare backup?

Doubt you can sell it as well. Even my old DIR-850L is collecting dust just in case the current router fails.

Good stuff. Much better than A7.

QCA9984 is known for really good 5Ghz performance.

Hi forummers,

Would need a favour from you guys to recommend me a good router for my unifi. I’ve been using unifi for years, couldn’t remember when I start using probably 8-9 yrs ago. Since then I’m using the stock router innacomm rgx4400. Lately after been turboed to 500mbps connection become very bad.

I’m looking for a router to replace this. My budget is only around rm500.

Can you guide me which one I can buy? My usage is just mobile gaming sometimes, nextflix wired to my TV, laptop on WiFi, another tv upstairs using WiFi and want to add desktop to my house on WiFi as well. I do download as well from time to time. Another thing is I’m working from home now and and need a stable connection especially using Skype for business, every time I wanted to share screen or even view shared screen it always have en error and only wired connection can solve this. I’m suspecting because of the old router.

One of the forumers here has suggested to get ac2300, I saw from ookas around 550, do you think I can get a good stable connection up to 500mbps using this router or is there any other suggestion

Thanks in advance for your recommendation
*
I guess the Archer C2300 will be a great choice for you. Relatively inexpensive for the performance it offers. As for share screen, it depends on the WiFi ability of your device as well.

Another model worth considering is the Asus RT-AC86U, legendary performance but higher price.

Anyone know will mesh better setup for two storey house? Not very big house semi d. Now using 68u but at 1st floor cannot get full speed 500mbps. Thinking shud go mesh or 86u. Tried pc and iphone all speed max can get is 300+mbps.
*
Since you are already on the Asus ecosystem, why not get the RT-AC86U and use the RT-AC68U as AiMesh node

The best of both worlds. smile.gif

if price is not a problem, wats the best 1 ?

The best VDSL modem router money can get you will be ASUS DSL-AC68U. Not sure if they still sell it in Malaysia.

I would skip the D-Link as I kept having issues getting the firmware to work properly.

Another option will be TP-Link VR600V, not the best but it is much better than the NETIS.
