QUOTE(blacktubi @ Aug 15 2023, 09:28 PM) How much is the RT-AX86U PRO from Taiwan after currency conversion I notice local RT-AX86U pro is around RM1.3K on previous promotion. it is about RM970 including shipping fee. if get from China, more cheaper, around RM910. May I ask, big different between RT-AX86U and RT-AX86U Pro? Pro version more expensive around RM200, worth it or not

Pro version more expensive around RM200, worth it or not Don't get the China version, 5GHz performance is around 50% of our version due to 5GHz power limitation in China. No way to bypass that. Taiwan version is fine. Always get the latest and greatest. The WiFi SoC on the PRO version is the enhanced BCM6715, it's technically 6E capable.

QUOTE(ZeneticX @ Aug 11 2023, 04:00 PM) Ok I've just received the repeater today » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Setting up was easy and straightforward. But I just found out the main issue, my original 5ghz wifi was not even strong enough to penetrate the first wall.... I wonder is it because the placement of the router (shouldn't be) or the stock router is just not powerful enough? This the signal strength I noticed using my phone connected to the 5ghz signal Since the signal drop to 3 bars sometimes 2 at the 2nd wall area, my repeater was not getting the best signal eventhough I extend the 5ghz signal. For now I am just extending the 2.4ghz signal because its still better than previous (2.4ghz will drop to 3 bars in the last rooms), at least it is stable full bars now. Tested with speedtest able to get >50mbps stable which is good enough for now Conclusion the repeater is working fine for a cheap solution (got it for RM87), but still need to solve the 5ghz issue. Also it is not a Wifi 6 repeater. I think only TP Link have Wifi 6 repeaters now? I checked and its quite expensive, probably more worth to go for a full mesh setup can test put repeater in utility room? maybe better at receiving 5Ghz signal there. Best position for you is the repeater to stay some where between corridor of doors. Less walls for 5Ghz to penetrate the better it receives data. But not everyone can make a new plug point by their own. So trial & error at different plugs then.

Maybe i'll try but it seems redundant to me because the repeater signal end up have to penetrate 2 walls also to reach the last room

I purchased Deco X50-5G router yesterday from All IT. The router is very sturdy and well built.
Currently using UHome 5G and in my area, speeds can reach upto 900mbps.
One thing I noticed with UHome 5G (or maybe Umobile in general) is the latency. I am getting a relatively high ping (around 20-35ms) when playing Mobile Legends.
This is in contrast with Digi where it is much lower (7-18ms).
Why didn't I just get the cheaper "3" or "E" 5G router? I just need some peace of mind when it comes to software support and warranty. It was a hard decision to swallow because of the RM500 difference in price. Also, I am planning to really take good care of this item so I can use it longer.
I'm also pretty sure telcos will now try to win the consumers by offering cheaper unlimited 5G hotspot in the future. And yes, I believe 5G is really the future of home internet.

Very steep but I need it for work badly (wfh). Ookas is selling RM1199 deduct RM200 voucher = RM999 I am not planning to resell this anyway and will use it until it's broken.

I bought mine at IBN IT shopee on 15 Aug. They have sudden flash sale for Deco X50-5G for RM1099. Got a RM40 discount but need to pay RM4.90 for postage. Worth buying it & using UHome 5G instead of Maxis/CelcomDigi offer. In 13-14 month the upfront cost I paid for a 5G router will be even out & I still continue paying less for 5G broadband

No contract + convenience where you can use your broadband anywhere. This is great for people who are renting. Currently, the 500-900mb speed is already an overkill but this will reduce since more and more people are using 5G. I just hope telcos can at least maintain the 200-300mb rate.

I need the router now and cannot wait for delivery because of work. I will lose more than RM200 if I don't work for a day. Lol Besides, AllIT is just across where I stay so I can return anytime should there be any issue. I rate Deco X50-5G 10/10 👏 It doesn't heat up (not even warm) even in room temperature (AC turned OFF). I heard 3/EE heats up a bit.

I just hope telcos can at least maintain the 200-300mb rate. Umobile promise a minimum 100Mbps for 5G. IMO that good enough especially for RM68 a month. While Maxis is 300Mbps if I'm not mistaken. Not sure for CelcomDigi thou. Yeah for now I'm enjoying the 500-600Mbps in my area. Big upgrade for me from Unifi 100Mbps
