try to defend the position and try not to touch. banging into others is a dumb thing to do. coz usually both drivers will DNF. anybody remember shumi in hungary last year ? die defending this position and end up touching their competitors and sendiri DNF .... thats a stupid thing to do. even if they overtake him, he could still take a few points, while alonso get 0.

yesterday's post race was priceless ! that's why i always said alonso is entertaining. i was hoping for them to continue shooting each other in the conference, unfortunately alonso apologized. For those who hate alonso and those who missed it, too bad for you. should i say that's the best post race in years ?

Italy's fickle but usually patriotic press has sided with Fernando Alonso after the European Grand Prix.

The Spaniard beat Ferrari's Felipe Massa to the flag at the Nurburgring after a late wheel-banging dice, earning the description 'Super Alonso' in the famous sports daily La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"Super Alonso gives Massa a lesson," said the publication, also rebuking Massa for reacting badly to McLaren driver Alonso's surly word to the Brazilian as they waited to mount the podium.

Massa, in Italian, angrily hit back at Alonso, who had accused him of deliberately making contact with his McLaren's left sidepod in the scrap for the win.

Several publications printed transcripts of their verbal quarrel, in which Massa told Alonso to "f--k off."

He said: "You have got to learn how to f--king drive properly."

La Gazzetta dello Sport observed: "No one can justify (Massa's) exaggerated reaction to Alonso's criticism.
Without his problems with the tyres, he probably could have held Alonso off, but one has to say that in the rain he is not the best."

After getting out of his McLaren Mercedes at the end of the race, Alonso had asked the live TV cameraman to move closer as he pointed towards the damage inflicted to the side of his car by Massa's contact.

Alonso then waved a finger back and forth as if to say 'you shouldn't do that,' a gesture directly aimed at his rival, which surely fired up Massa's subsequent bad temper and led to the verbal scuffle right before the podium ceremony.

According to Agence France-Presse, European Grand Prix winner Fernando Alonso accused Felipe Massa of deliberately hitting his car during the duel that opposed both drivers at the end of Sunday's race on the Nürburgring track.

A few minutes before the traditional ceremony, Ferrari's Felipe Massa approached McLaren's Fernando Alonso and shook his hand in the room adjacent to the podium. The folllowing conversation ensued in Italian.

FA: "You can't do things like that."

FM : "What are you talking about?"

FA: "Don't play smart with me, you know very well. You hit me on purpose, you turned the wheel to push me off."

FM : "What? Go f--k yourself!"

FA : "You f--k off! Next time I'll push you into the wall."

Alonso, decidely in a provocative mood, turned and smiled at the live TV camera as Massa walked away very upset, his dark mood still quite apparent during the podium ceremony.

Once tempers had calmed down as the post-race FIA press conference began, Fernando Alonso admitted that he had over-reacted.

"We touched each other two times and I apologise to him (Massa) because I was so stressed when I finished the race because we nearly didn't finish the race. Now I try to enjoy the victory and forget everything," the Spaniard said as he sat next to Massa, quickly touching his neighbour's forearm in a friendlier gesture.

The Brazilian was still somewhat flared however: "I was really surprised when he came to say that I did that on purpose.

I would never do something like that on purpose. Like I said in Barcelona, it was normal, here it was normal and it's going to be like that. So if he was a little bit unhappy, it's not my problem."

"With Felipe at the end it was close but as I said before, I apologise if I said anything to him, because it's motor racing and it's a fight," added Alonso.

"We finished the race, so I don't want to talk any more about this and I want to enjoy the win," he stated, wishing to close the matter.

Prompted by the assembled journalists, Alonso returned to the delicate subject a few minutes later.

"I was not too happy at the end of the race because we touched each other but now, five minutes later on the podium I realised that this is motor racing, so I will not talk any more," he repeated.

The subject seemed to be closed for Massa also: "If somebody tells me something I did wrong and I didn't, I will be unhappy. That is normal. But if he has apologized, then that's fine. He knows he was not right after the race."

Bad tempers and apologies - on certain occasions, both are a part of motorsports...

i remember a mclaren (forgot which driver liao, coulthard perhaps?), leading the last few laps, and his lap time is alot slower than schumacher, and schumacher is trying hard to overtake him for 10 laps, in the end? he successfully defended his position, anyone know where this happen? its around 3-5 years back.

i think i agree with you. i think it was alonso-schumi at imola.

if like that, massa is the one who should learn from alonso.

by the way, anyone remember Montoya(when he was still in williams) vs Schumi? and schumi always accuse montoya purposely hit him many times in the race? these kind of things always happen in F1 lar, not the 1st time.

michael vs ralf at imola, year 2004, if not mistaken. While ralf still with williams.
fisi vs michael, last year brazil GP.
montoya vs kimi. Forgot the GP edy.

Not only F1, it also happen in other motor racing.
Is just that F1 size is bigger than others, that why we saw lot of collision

i think Schumi is the real master,refer Jerez`97(FIA deduct all Schumi point in 1997 season after he tried to pull Jacque out of track)
btw when u talk about MotoGP,i remember when Dani and Nicky accident last season

i have got this feeling that lewis hamilton will falter at the end . Although i wan raikonen to win, i think alonso stands a better chance. hamilton's lead is cut dwn to 2 points now

this is what our current champion is....first he calls the camera to focus on the dent on his car, then he accuses Massa for deliberately pushing him off without any proof. Now I cannot blame Massa for acting that way. Everything starts from Alonso...all the funny animal gestures in '05, accusations to his team in '06, now accusations to team and rival in '07. Anyone wanna guess what's gonna happen in '08? Kinda funny why people would still support this kind of person.
