That's the way Apple rolls. To be honest, there's been not much excitement since they revealed the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 4 before that. Every other iPhone released has been small, incremental updates in spite of the bombastic words they use during the keynotes

iPhone X has been discontinued and retailers are now clearing their stocks at 4,299 and 4,999 for the 64GB and 256GB respectively. It'll probably be sold out by the time the Xs reaches, but you're right, there's no compelling reason to upgrade from the X to the Xs.

Exactly, and to be fair, I think we've reached the point whereby there's only so much you can do for a new phone unless you want something gimmicky like a slide out camera? The Note 9 was in many ways also a very small upgrade over the Note 8 and yet I don't see Samsung getting as much flak as Apple. Probably also due to the ridiculous price Apple charges to maximize their profit, as you rightly put it.

Huawei should be looking at Samsung and leaving Apple alone. Same as how Samsung should be looking over its shoulders and eyeing Huawei with a close eye. Apple doesn't care if they don't make the most number of phones, they just want to make the most amount of profit.

Yeah, exactly this. Everytime I see those S9+ or Note 9 vs Apple phone comparison videos and the fanboys screaming at each other to no end on which is the better or faster phone, I cringe. It's a different ecosystem. Period. No one else makes iOS devices so Apple has been getting away with small, minor upgrades but with exorbitant prices. Some do move to a new ecosystem, but most have their reasons to stay or are just lazy to change.

My personal opinion is no, unless you go for the Xs Max. Instead of the Xs, an X is a cheaper option and not significantly inferior in any way to the Xs.

Well, some people complained the X was a bit too small for them coz they are used to those phablet sized screens, hence the Xs Max, hehe. For me personally the X is just right size coz like you said, it's single-handed friendly but battery life isn't stellar for heavy usage..

Normal. Try and earn as much profit from those would be early adopters. I still remember some fella paying RM7000 plus to be the first in MY to own the iPhone 6 Plus many years ago

We’ve been going back and forth on this for years now, hehe. I think it’s a little bit of hit and miss, but if we had an official Apple Store here it wouldn’t be much of a problem.

What the iPhone Xs and Xs Max costs in selected countries (excluding taxes, or in some cases, tax refunds)

I have a relative who flies to the States frequently, and he told me the US prices published excludes taxes, and depending on which state you’re in, the taxes can go as high as 10% or more. So maybe that seller doesn’t earn that much? Not sure though, either way I prefer to buy it when it’s locally available, or during my annual Christmas trip to Singapore

No, you can request to buy unlock sets in US. My brother-in-law is using an unlocked US iPhone X right now.
