For my case, actually there is not much of feeling unless you bite food.. the wire is very stong (if not mistaken, it is titatium), so you have no worry. Just don;t brush too hard till the braces drop off.

Not sure if you aware on the method of brushing teeth ? All the while, we been told to using up and down method when brushing teeth. However, after we installed braces, we must change to left to right, right to left brushing method on 90 degree, then 135 degree, 45 degree to clean the braces. You may buy the small triangle brush to clean the gap between the 2 teeth - behind the wire(of couse using up and down method this time).

Also, your tooth brush should use the orthodontic tooth brush (I am using ORAL B). You can get it from Watson easily. The brush is in V shape. Prices about RM7.50.

actually, you still can eat rice. Just ask your mum cook the rice softer. I admit a bit hard to eat but try to using back teeth to bite lo.. or else, you will bored on the porridge after few week later. You will get thiner too (I lost 5 KG) sad.gif

Try to balance your nutrition, to maintain your health.

I am not sure if you have to install "bite stop" behind your front teeth in future. If so, then your only choice of meal will be porridge only. Because when you close your teeth, upper and lower teeth can't touch each other at all, so u need to swallow food without bite. sweat.gif

Enjoy food while you still can have some bite  biggrin.gif
*
eh, why I never see it 1?? currently, I'm using the normal toothbrush (shhh... don't tell the DR. aaa) but must change about every 1 1/2 months once... cepat rosak...

I got find at watson before... tak nampak pun? hmm.gif

since I got my braces, I dun like to eat rice coz the grain like to get stuck in between brackets or teeth... that's y I selalu lapar... doh.gif

and NO Listerine for your braces! according to several doctors, Listerine got some sort of content that does harm to your teeth as well as your braces, i suspect is sugar. and i suggest using Oxyfresh, it's not so 'tangy' like Listerine or Oral B, it's light but does wonders.

as for ulcers, don't you gals have dental wax to protect your gum from being scraped by the metal?
*
hahaha... rahsia sudah bocor... hahahaha

seeing ur new smile ... I lagi bersemangat about this whole braces thingy....! Thanks for sharing...! icon_rolleyes.gif

hm... I usually dilute the listerine a bit before rinsing woh...

I got the dental wax... but I only use it when really really pain... so I can train my pain tolerance... laugh.gif

I just check from Web and found below info:

Extract from http://www.orthodontics.org/cleaning.htm

Rinsing your mouth with Listerine Antiseptic Mouthwash for 30 seconds twice a day has been shown to reduce bacterial plaque and gingivitis by 20 % in three clinical studies. Listerine Antiseptic Mouthwash contains an essential oil and has received the American Dental Association's Seal of Acceptance. Always spit out the Listerine after your 30 second rinses. Children under the age of 12 years old should not use Listerine.

Extract from http://www.brands2liveby.com/FAQ.aspx?brand=3530 (This info may not acculate, as the model of Listerine is defferent than what I used).

Q. Does Listerine® ToothDefenseTM Anticavity Fluoride Rinse contain sugar?
Ans. No.  It contains sucralose as the artificial sweetener.

Q. Is Listerine® ToothDefenseTM Anticavity Fluoride Rinse safe to use with dental work, i.e., braces, bridges, crowns, veneers, etc?
Ans. When used as directed, Listerine® ToothDefenseTM rinse, is safe to use with your dental work.  If you have specific questions regarding your dental work, please ask your dentist.

Extract from http://www.angle.org/anglonline/?request=g...ue=02&page=0294

This study shows that use of Listerine mouthrinse can reduce the amount of plaque and gingivitis in patients undergoing orthodontic treatment. Adding Listerine to the standard oral hygiene regimen may be beneficial for orthodontic patients in maintaining proper oral health, thus reducing the likelihood that white spot lesions and gingivitis will develop.
Conclusion: Look like it safe to use. Anyhow, I am not expert on this field, i may wrong  tongue.gif

hmm... seems like you are quite keen to analyze things 1 hor... good good....

dear sorry for the late reply,
hmmm its quite costly, i've asked the doc for the braces brand, its equivalent to GAC Innovation and from the same manufacturer but named Tomy(for Japan market) and cost rm9500, normally you have to pay 40% after the bonding (excluding extraction, moulding, xray, scaling), and rm250 for the monthly treatment. Maybe its cheaper at other clinic, i'm not sure but mine done at DentalPro Bangsar but the ortho only available on Tuesday. i've heard that most dentists dont do such coz i wasnt their orthodontic patient from the beginning...  unsure.gif

I think got lah... as long as u have your models with you? but i think if you don't have the models/mould with you then maybe you have to re-do the mould again...cost more $$$ unsure.gif

I had these so called 'vampire teeth' too even I went for ortho since my doctor said that these teeth cannot be pull off, I wondered why. For me, there are my unique teeth, we have to be confident on ourselves!
When the time I removed my braces, my teeth were straighten with my 'vampire teeth' and I think there are nice. Now, I can smile happily with my mouth open. hehe.. biggrin.gif
Also, I've lost weights after I wore braces because it is kinda pain until I cannot eat much food.
This is because I only can swallow soft food like tau fu and porriage. sad.gif
From my experience, wearing braces gave me two benefits for having a good smile and lose weight! wearing braces gave me two benefits for having a good smile and lose weight!  rclxms.gif
I'm satisfied with my results even though it is a painful experience for me.

err... nothing in particular, though I admit during the first few months really cannot eat much, just swallow without really chewing...

Yeah, went to see dr. How last night at Maluri. My appointment was at 9.15PM but waited till 10PM. Missed Uber cup on starsport... :-(

Well, Dr. How just did a quick check for me, in less than 2 minutes and said although my teeth are nicely aligned but I have too many teeth yet my mouth is small. I have very bad rabbit teeth and when I smile can see the gum. No matter I am taking conventional treatment or Innovation or Daemon 3, I will still need to extract 4 teeth. Uchhhh…

Although Daemon 3 is faster and less pain than conventional orthodontic. But the main objective is to have good end result which make Daemon 3/ innovation more expensive.

If I would go for the treatment it’s RM5600 for Daemon 3 and RM5400 for innovation.

X-ray and mold RM200, extraction will be around RM140 with RM35 each.

And because of my gum issue, I will need to have two screws to screw up my teeth gum issue, I will need to have two screws to screw up my teeth and that will cost another RM700 with RM350 each.

It will cost me RM 6640 for total which is more than double of my initial treatment in Perak. Although just a very short conversation with Dr. How but he’s really a nice dentist. Give very good explanation compared to my dentist in Perak.

I am in the dilemma to decide to take Daemon at How’s Orthodontic or continue my conventional treatment in Perak.

I will go to Perak this weekend and see if the dentist will do anything to my teeth or not. If he said I will still need to wear the bite stop I would probably transfer to How’s Orthodontic. I cannot wait too long d as I am also old now…

If you were me, how will you decide??

since installed the bite stoper, i found i have a big gap between upper and lower teeth when i bite.. recently, the gap is smaller..hope few more month later, it will toouch each other, then i can start chew food  rclxms.gif
