nope. I still drink coffee, tea as usual, soft drinks occasionally. Just make sure you keep your mouth, braces and teeth clean, then should be ok. Bracesians' Place, Bracesians' Support Group

I think it will be fun!! Added on March 7, 2009, 11:42 pm QUOTE(kentcp @ Mar 6 2009, 11:40 AM) Now I recall..during the CNY, our thread owner - Green Apple did asked for a TT gathering... it it that time she is going or already de-braces ?? wanna have a small celerabration ? oo.. Green Apple, are you still log in ? Give us some responses err.. about the de-bracing, actually I'm in fine tuning phase already... I think maybe by next month or May should take out dy, I think. From the nurses, the retainer that they provided 1 is those transparent type 1... for other type you have to pay extra. If I am not wrong, those steel type 1 cost RM400 for bottom and top separately, which means = RM800 for top & bottom. Anybody else have more information about this? I couldn't imagine myself without the braces anymore..! I think I will feel like my teeth is "naked" dy!!! This post has been edited by green_apple: Mar 7 2009, 11:42 PM |

QUOTE(kentcp @ Mar 11 2009, 10:57 AM) I am also keen to know more on the retainer and current technology.. Don't get me wrong. It does come with retainers, it just that if you opt for other type than the 1 they provided, then you have to pay more. Or else, it's included (this is what I understand from what the nurse says)Found some info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retainer_(orthodontic_device) Also, http://www.archwired.com/6-_come_off.htm Oh yea, the transparent one is the one called as Essix retainer (from the link given by kentcp) and the RM400 one is Hawley's Retainer (refer to the link given). Hope I clear things up. This post has been edited by green_apple: Mar 15 2009, 04:00 PM |

ok guys! I'm finally de-braced!
now, just to inform you guys, during the de-bonding process, you have to go for x-rays and moulding is needed plus pictures will be taken too, so on that night I have to pay RM300 for those. during the debonding process, there was slight pain, especially when Dr. is removing the brackets from my wisdom teeth (the last one at the back) but anyhow, after the debonding process, it feels weird. (like losing your teeth today, I went and pick up my retainer, yeap, its the transparent 1, and I've been informed that I need to come back for check up 6 months later. I also had bought a case to put my retainer and Polident, to clean the retainer. the retainer feels tight, and to take it out is quite hard. I suppose maybe it'll loosen up after some time? super happy now!! This post has been edited by green_apple: Mar 21 2009, 11:23 PM |

Added on March 24, 2009, 6:42 pm QUOTE(leng_leng @ Mar 24 2009, 03:04 PM) I noticed that there're some stain on my teeth nearby my gum.. couldnt clean or remove it.. i think for those stain, you need a dentist only can remove it. "Tartar" I think.I brush my teeth after every meal but why stil have such thing sticking on my teeth? the thing is, sometimes the stain is already there, but you didn't notice it until you have your braces because until then only you are very very conscious of your teeth. as for me, after I had my braces, I notice a lot of things about my teeth ooo... oh yeah, during the de-bonding process, Dr did some scaling too... and he did it pretty fast!
According to the ormco website, it claimed that Damon Q is smaller and better (improve the treatment time).
Dr was told me, he rather to advice patient to use Damon system than transditional type nowaday. Transditional type is painful, take longer time and difficult to make the teeth perfect. Assume Damon system can achieve 100%, transditional can only achieve ~60%, other brand of self-ligating system is ~80%-90%. The result is vary depend on the skill of orthodontist to use the braces system. Conclusion: a good braces system must have good exprienced orthodontist to achieve a best result. So, if you looking best result, better compare $, system to be use and orthodontist exprience.
hm... sometimes I wonder how come Dr chit chatted with you a lot... I mean during my treatment he doesn't talk much.
about the retainer, as far as I know, we have to wear it forever, Some of my friends who had braces earlier and did not wear retainer regularly, their teeth move back to old position. So ,if they want it to be aligned again, they have to do braces again. This post has been edited by green_apple: Apr 4 2009, 05:37 PM |
