I know its unlikely due to the OPX but i would love to see 2 sizes like the galaxy series.

To be fair to OP though, the 6 does feel somewhat easier to handle then a "full-fledged" Phablet, maybe due to the curves, thinness and thin bezels. Ever so slightly, anyway.

Coming from an Honor 8 you can imagine my initial awkwardness. However, having used the Note 3 before that (still pretty much the most compact Note in my books), the 6 did feel a lot less "wide" then that phone (or my mother's monstrous iP7Plus for that matter).

But yeah, a pure 5-inch-ish bezelless device would have been pretty handy really... but I do think that managing 2 release units at any one time might be a bit too much for OP to handle... as it would probably tax their logistics a bit now that they're not selling by invites any more.

Hence the current (slightly questionable) twice a year, single device cycle.

Also forgot to mention no vapor chamber doh.gif c'mon oneplus step up your game…poco have these and cost less… the under the screen fp is really not what most user want… I think most will agree a 4000mah or more and vapor chamber is a more meaningful upgrade!!! If got I might get the 6t just for gaming alone!!!

Ok I forgive you oneplus for not having it in 6t because poco came out of no where lol

The 4000mah and the vapor chamber better not be missing on the oneplus 7/7t
*
Battery on the R17 Pro is 2x1800mAh (3600), so barring any last minute changes (unlikely), that's what the 6T is gonna get. Also, personally, I think vapor chambers are really only needed to counter for thermals that are "compromised" by design.

I mean, the 6 even throttles less then the S9+ (as per Notebookcheck), and IINM that phone has a heatsink lol. Hell, the #papan9 still throttles WITH the "hydro-carbon chamber of secrets" that it has...

... and the 6 is STILL above both phones (and the Poco) on the offical Antutu chart.

No real reason for the added cost unless it's absolutely necessary TBH.

As for a bigger battery though, I'm all with you on that. 3600mAh is pretty small for such a big ass phone as the 6T IMHO, and I for one wouldn't mind the phone be a bit thicker for more battery life for sure.

This is why is say oneplus need to step up their game…  the problem is poco f1 exicist

if poco never came to be then no prob… the competition can offer both heatpipe n 4000mah at less price can oneplus must change it seem that pocophone is where oneplus is when oneplus just started a flasgship killer… I love oneplus and I want them to return to their roots

I know u cant just modify phone near release data which is why I said I forgive oneplus since poco came out pf nowhere read my post sbove…

But 4000mah and heatpipe better not be missing from 7/7t else I believe oneplus has lost it edge… this is my 2cent lahhh
*
Well, personally I think that OnePlus has ALREADY lost their "roots" a while back, from the 5 onwards. They're pretty much gunning to fill the "budget flagship" segment now rather than "flagship killer" - as in "cheaper but almost as good" as compared to "hella cheap bleeding edge performance with substantial compromises" that the OPO once was (and the Poco is now).

But I digress. If you ask me, it's true that they haven't really been making the best of design decisions lately, or at least decisions that reflect "principles" OP supposedly represents such as Value and Practicality for the least of compromises.

Like, for me, the 6T feels like it isn't really compromising where it needs to compromise. Like why not ditch the (possibly) unreliable in-display FPS for "Dash Wireless Charging", or hell, a bigger battery? Both of which are FAR more "useful" IMHO then the FPS.

And that TOF back sensor (assuming the 6T keeps that too from the R17Pro), WTF? You want to make your phones emulate a bloody Wii issit? Another ACTUAL sensor (even a slightly shittier one) with a wide lens would have been a LOT more practical TBH.

I'm beginning to think that their fortunes "hardware-wise" nowadays is at the near complete mercy of Oppo rather then themselves lol - and all they can do is adjust around the R-series template of the (half-) year to suit their needs best they can.

But hey, in-display FPS + TOF sensor = at least nobody can say they're not hangin' with all the other cool bleeding edge kids now lol - as superfluous as those two features might end up being.

"Now be amazed as we use the TOF sensor to project AR Emojis... on somebody else's face... THE OTHERMOJI!"

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Go Google the specs for the upcoming 6T. If it's attractive to you, it should hit local channels by the end of the year, so it's not a long wait.

However, if the decreasing price of the 6 is more interesting for you, by all means do get the 6.

Save for the slightly lesser-then-flagship Cameras (it's pretty good, just not P20Pro/S9 good), it's a very nicely built phone with excellent software (as far as OEM flavored Androids are concerned) and performance by the boatload.

So yeah, it depends.

Personally, I like mine enough that I'm probably staying out of the upgrade race for a few years lol.

It's a bit complicated.

For photos, the hardware is actually there, as can be evidenced from the pictures not being too bad once I installed Camera M Mod (a Magisk module) and dialed down the NR and sharpening. But at stock settings it kinda smears details a bit (the infamous "OP watercolour"), hence the "less then flagship" thing.

Also it's not so good in the dark, as the auto algorithm prefers to jack up ISO (less details, more noise... which the NR further butchers on stock settings) vs lengthening shutterspeed... but to be fair, that's what most phone cameras tend to do, anyway.

Still, it's pretty good for the price range, save for probably one rival, the Mi8, as that one is a bit better in the dark... though I'd rather not deal with MIUI myself (having come from EMUI). Personally, I have no real qualms with the pics though - but again I'm running it modded.

For videos, it's pretty good too. 4k/60fps, OIS, slow mo bla bla... But again it's not up to the flagships (especially in regards to the EIS/OIS) but it's a still better then the rest in its class for sure. The Zenphone 5Z comes close video-wise, but Asus software package is an acquired taste unfortunately and the stabilisation is even worse.

So yeah.

To be completely honest, it's the "package" that the 6 brings that is the clincher for me personally. Awesome build quality (shame its still a glass sandwich), speedy performance, pretty decent cameras overall and very, very light software (with resulting respectable battery life)... and all for less money now that the 6T is coming.

It's a "the sum of its parts" kinda thing really.

Bought 5T back in Jan and put my 6P into retirement. Yes, I kinda miss 6P camera but that's about it. Everything else are improvements on the OP. The performance, fast charge & batt life are better than 6P... At least to me.

No problemo. If you can't find any demo sets elsewhere, All-IT Hypermart branches usually have OP6 demo units for you to play with.

Ironically, I ended up buying the 6 primarily because of an All-IT demo unit lol - before that I had qualms over the 6's size (vs my comparatively tiny old Honor 8)... biggrin.gif

Long time never clean cache? Or no software updates for that matter lol. Both sounds like a recipe for a laggy disaster to me.

You can also find the demo units of the OnePlus 6 at Directd Mega Store in PJ. That's where I went when it was just officially released in Malaysia.

I'm using 5T. Just giving you the perspective that it's better than my 6P. OP6 is even better. Anyway you should try it first and see how it goes from there.

i went to see the OP6 at showroom 3 time. each time i pick their disadvantages over the big screen, font size layout, etc. I was from OP5. because the recent Mi Han trade-in program i decided to go OP6.

OP6 camera wasn't at flagship level. sometime i do feel OP5 is better. however OIS is nice to have features.

Battery wasnt as good as OP5 if not worse but should at least on par. most time (on standby) i'll need to re-charge 1 1/2 day compare OP5 2 full days.

I do feel the Dash charging OP5 is better and faster than OP6, maybe that just my feeling.

But in all, OnePlus devices are good! love the build quality ,fast dash charging and fluent android experience. u wont regret if targeting that 3 main points.

So, w/o the headphone jack, the phone thickness can be balanced out with new features, & better battery life?
The new phone won't be very thick then.....

Omfg is oneplus for real… are we talking about oneplus… oneplus is removing the 3.5mm I hope this will be false

Update: I just read and its true… this will be a bad move on oneplus imho…

first u can't charge and listen on ur headphone at the same time unless u get those addapter which I don't even know works or not…

Second they will be huge lattency for games on their bluetooth device maybe upto 200 or more ms… even aptx LL is only rated upto 100ms only… bad news for gamers like me…

Haih wut happen to oneplus doh.gif

One good news is that oneplus 6 will be a gem the last phone from oneplus with headphones jack tongue.gif

Well, it could be that they have IP67 to counter the loss of that jack... but yeah, this is pretty in line with what I said before about "questionable design decisions lately"... or rather being "at the mercy" of Oppo's design team.

It's sounding more and more like they are (shackled to Oppo), and whatever Carl is saying is just rationalising the fact that the phone the OP6T is gonna be based on (the R17Pro) just doesn't have a jack to begin with... and there's no real time (or resource) left to try to change that for the 6T.

Well, at least seems that I decided to get in at the best possible time then lol. RIP Jack, you will be missed... while I continue to enjoy mine happily for the foreseeable future.

Well i don feel too bad about losing the jack beside, OP did mention they will include adapter to counter to wire earbuds.... soon i believe there will be third parties that allow charging and port adapter (that would still remain to be hopeful, truly) because we are welcoming new tech like in display finger print scanner and possible ip68 rating perhaps even possible larger battery for those complain need to charge after 1 1/2 days.

For my opinion, What they should had done was to included wireless earbuds bullet v2 in it to promote their wireless campaign (wishful thinking).... laugh.gif
