No, China people can also use their UnionPay cards in Malaysia.

Even though merchant has PB or AmBank terminal, that doesn't necessary mean that the terminal has been configured to accept UnionPay.
The merchant may not want to fork out extra fee to enable it as it thinks that Visa and Mastercard should have sufficient card payment coverage.
A Maybank terminal can support AMEX and UnionPay too. Those new terminals at McD can support UnionPay.

Get your point already.. Seems like the terminal is universal one.. Just the "programming" only either the merchant want to "opt in" or "opt out" for AMEX, unionpay or both not..
