Went to Asus service @ endah parade, talked with the staff at counter.
Thought can diagnose the phone right away, but weekend no technician, need to leave there for few days..
Told him the problem I had, the staff said might motherboard problem, if replace motherboard probably need around rm700..
Due to covid cases keep rising recently, don't like to back to there.. and the cost is like a whole new phone price, plus, I got me a new phone.. I decided not to leave my phone with them..

Even if it was RM300, it is still much better to get a brand new phone instead as with RM599 today, you could definitely get a much better phone. Heck, you could even get RN9S (SD720 4GB/64GB) during yesterday's sale.

This article reminded me of the good old days - RM599 for a stock Android phone with 5000mAh battery!

Agree , but lesser than rm300 , i think the panel/cervice centre wont agree with that , not that thier standard price list, usually will be higher due to the expenses such sallary, rental etc, smaller shop probably will be lesser , just need to worry of the spare-part quality and the workmanship such place they worked , a cleaner place and tidy etc .

tried clear cache and not working, then press clear storage and try again.

the waze login itself is problematic and even the reset password doesn't work, made a new account and proceed with it instead.

so far working these few days.

i am not really sure if something in the waze stored data corrupted or what but apparently it can affect google map and grab as well  confused.gif

now that they are working i will try for longer time and see if it repeat again, hopefully no need to hard reset.
*
the problem arise again and i totally uninstall waze, and google map is back to normal, as well as grab.

i would say that it is a problem with waze software and seems like it is randomly affecting users due to some new detection technic for tunnel etc but it could mess up with the normal function. and it seems like waze is quite persistant, and get itself stuck in a loop, always prompting the same trip after cancel and turn off waze. Even after restart phone it still prompt the same thing over and over again, which should only happen if shutdown app during navigation and reopen.

hopefully the next update will be more stable, for now, i will not install it back.

lucky it is not the phone problem.

How much does a used M1 go for these days? Just got a new phone to replace the old M1. Phone still in good condition 3+32gb. Good SoC. Better than those low mid-range phone running MTK.

Plus it’s a stock Android phone - that’s getting even more rare these days! You’d be lucky to get 300 for it bro. It’s a good phone nonetheless, but it’s not a popular phone or one that is in demand especially since ASUS has abandoned the M series and focus now only on the ROG series.

Hi guys, I'm back. How're you guys doing? All's well, I hope.

I'm afraid my time with my Max is over. Accidentally dropped it a few days days ago from about elbow height onto a timber floor. The only visible damage was the slightly chipped tempered glass.

I thought it'd be okay but later that day, I couldn't make or receive calls, missed call notifications came in for a while and then stopped. Getting TAC was impossible. Then, data became weak AF. The battery drained like crazy and the phone started getting hot as hell even when left alone and in airplane mode. Scary!

I guessed (I think correctly) that it was beyond (reasonably priced) repair and game over for my trusty Max. I started searching for the same model in online shopping but there are virtually no AZMPM1s for sale anymore. Realized Asus had basically abandoned the midrange segment and instead focused on their ROG phones. The closest thing available was the Z7 - which is way too pricey for me.

Started feeling lost without a working handset - realized then just how dependent I am on this little piece of plastic and metal...damn! Felder, Henley and Frey of The Eagles were right when they wrote, "We are all just prisoners here, of our own device" (Hotel California). LOL!

Anyways, I went down to Prangin Mall (George Town) and walked around scouting for a sub RM600 device.

One booth caught my eye (or rather the miniature amoi with long hair behind the counter).

Told her my budget and she recommend this phone, the Xiaomi Redmi T9 . I have never owned any other phone besides Zenfones, so I had to check out the specs and reviews for this newly released device (January, 2021).

Told miniature amoi my phone was dying and asked if I could please use her phone to get online to read up on the model.

Miniature amoi smiled and said of course, with a flirtatious toss of her (long) hair.

Checked gsmarena and a few other sites, like technave and etc. while chatting up miniature amoi (complete with joking, teasing and cringy giggling). Found out the RRP is actually RM538 while miniature amoi's price was RM599.

The price was okay by me as I didn't want to spend too much for something that has a 2-3 year lifespan. Plus, it has what I really needed - stamina (a 6K mah battery). Additionally, it comes with a Snapdragon 662, which is not really a performance chip but more of a power conserving one - which is fine by me.

After more (borderline hamsap) chatting with miniature amoi, she let me have it for RM559 (cash), along with her unasked for, phone number (but that's a story for another day).

Been fiddling with the Redmi 9T and I'm quite satisfied with it. Getting 25 to 30 hours SOT with a full charge (with some tweaking). Android 10 is cool, with dark mode on UI and apps. Of course, the T9 comes with system bloatware that can be uninstalled with ADB but I think I'll leave those for the time being, and instead, just uninstalled those that could be uninstalled normally.

Customized it with the speedy Nova Launcher and tweaked transitions in developer mode for a faster UX. One thing that got me a bit worried were the home/back navigation buttons which are placed opposite to any Zenfone I've ever owned. I'm so used to having back buttons on the left, with Zenfones. Did some digging around in Settings and discovered that the buttons can be mirror reversed. Cool!

Now, it feels like I'm using a Zenfone again. LOL!

All said and done, it looks like goodbye to Zenfones and hello to T9 and miniature amoi (with long hair). biggrin.gif

i believe the board might be faulty, so just buy new mainboard if you can source for one. the current board should be repairable, just need to find good technician who can find the source of the extreme heat generated.

Yo bro, it’s been long! You’re probably one of the few survivors left with the AZMPM1 laugh.gif

There’s been a flurry of phones with 5000mAh battery or bigger since but unfortunately there’s been none with stock Android - so the Zenfone is indeed a rare phone that we will remember fondly for years to come, even though ASUS did it an injustice by discontinuing it after just the second gen one, which admittedly was a flop (maybe due to the notch?)

Anyways, it was fun while it lasted!

Believe me, with my hectic life, I tried my best to find a repair shop/tech who would be able to help with the phone but there were some very incompetent looking fellas (they had this unprofessional look of bewilderment when checking out my phone) or as luck would have it, every repair shop I found the time to visit was either closed or more focussed on sales.

Everything was like working against me. I gave up after 2 days and went out and got me a new phone, after unsuccessfully sourcing online for a replacement Max.

I was desperate and stranded without a communication device. The worst pain in the butt was when I had to write down my name, number and temperature everywhere I went, instead of simply using the mysejahtera app. Haiyo! doh.gif

Yes bro, it’s been a long time since I dropped in and as always, you’re the perfect “host”. notworthy.gif

And yes, it looks like I’m one of the Last of the Max-hicans, albeit with a retarded one. I think there are many more users out there with working M1s – those not clumsy enough to drop their phones and eff up up the internals, like I did.

I hadn’t been looking at phones for a long time, since my Max was working perfectly (until I dropped it, of course) and I wasn’t really aware of new developments – until I my phone went full retard on me.

I agree. Asus did the Max an injustice by discontinuing the stock Android midrange battery powerhouse. I too, did not like the notch on M2 but now, I have no choice but use a phone with (a tiny) teardrop notch. puke.gif

“Beggars” can’t be choosers and desperate times call for desperate measures. Hahah!

I guess by the time this 9T gives up it’s soul, I’ll be looking to get a replacement phone with a bigger than a 6K mAh battery – just as I had graduated from 5K to 6K. LOL!
