This problem was reported by India users before the phone was launched in Malaysia. It's there since day one and unlike the camera Asus decided not to rectify this. Either live with it or set brightness manually. I set mine at 5%.
I have always use manual brightness for Android phones because auto brightness has never been good in some of the phones I used. However, iphones have good auto brightness which I uses. Therefore....well another reason why iphones are good cause a lot of the things they do, it is done right.
How much does RN7 Pro to be worth getting? I am thinking for a 4gb version, I cannot be more than 1k. Because pocophone is already around 1.2k with 6gb.
Well, I don't really care when they are releasing it. My main concern is the phone to work as expected, do not drain battery and can run all the apps I want to run it. The only reason upgrading or updating, for me, is if there are new features or bug fixing. Also for running apps that are particular about OSes. Other than that..right now I am content with the current firmware my M1 is running.
However, I do understand some people really eager to upgrade which is fine. Upgrade ASAP and then report all the bugs.
No, I do NOT have a 4GB M1. My current handphone is a Asus Zenfone 2 from about 3 years back with 4GB of ram with 32GB of storage.
And it is now running sluggish with the amount of bloatware and ever increasing size of the apps.
At RM669, a 6gb phone is totally decent price. SD636 is still fast enough if you do not game and if you facebook a lot the RAM really helps. Any idea what is the nearest competitor to this phone at this kind of price?
BTW, surprising that your ZF2 can last so long! The intel based ZF2 is really bad and slow and sluggish. Tried it once on my colleague's phone which he already changed like 2 years ago.
Just wonder how the battery status M1 in between 4gb vs 6gb variant , dang wut a waste such a big ram for a weaker 636 processor .
My 4gb going strong w. Storage less than 10% left
I have cancelled buying the Nokia 1 for a backup aka emergency use , crapp rm189 and a discount rm-15 + rm4.80 delivery, yadaa real tempted . Well there a contender such redmi go rm299
How many backup/emergency phones do you need? Don't you have other old phones lying around?
I still have some old phones like Galaxy Y, HTC Vivo, Samsung and Nokia clam phones. Those are good enough as "emergency" phones, no?
My battery also seems to be depleting pretty fast recently. The phone is always warm and something is draining the battery. However, I just cannot find what is draining it.
Anybody experience unable to charge with aukey cable?
All my aukey cable unable to charge this stupid phone. :x
Strange. USB cables are universal. I have used mostly cheapo cables to charge and so far all working fine. So you should say stupid aukey cables instead of stupid phone.

Those not so famous brand like Meizu usually will not have firmware updates or very slow updates. If that is important to you then stay away. Else for that price, it is good buy and don't expect anything else. Like getting parts for repair will be touch too.

Releasing with May 2019 security patch. Should be more stable than the one released in India. I'll let you "can't wait to upgrade" guy update first then see if it's stable enough for me. I am still fine with my old firmware. LOL...
anyone notice that the camera app isn't able to take photo at first launch. need to close it and re-open again in order to take photo
The default camera app sucks. Get gcam mod app. Only problem with that is green tint on selfie and also flash is delayed. So when taking pics with flash, it will be useless cause the flash already gone only the picture is taken.
There's this feature in M1 which I thought didn't work - under Display, "Smart screen on" (Extend the screen on time while you're looking at it). Since I set my regular screen timeout at 1 minute, the screen dims and turns off after 1 minute regardless of whether I'm looking at it. Had to keep touching the screen to keep it on while reading news, etc.
Turns out it didn't work because I disallowed the camera from running in the background. Now that I've allowed it, the display stays on for as long as I'm looking at it, without any screen touch refresh. Guessed that its camera dependent.
Tried staring at the screen while reading stuff for 5 minutes and the screen just stayed on without any prompting. Dimmed and turned off by itself after I put the phone down. Useful feature, this.
Btw, I'm still running Oreo on my M1. Is this feature available in Pie?
How much faster does the battery drain due to turning on this feature?
