hi expert out there
1.)Currently im working out SQ setup for my ride. For HU unit, im keen on Alpine set(the image look is better) compare to eclipse. But for component set, i had look into Focal, Eton & RS....which will be good? I had a test on Focal 165k2p with Xetec Pro2 Evo amp...its awesome & the clear kick bass... How abt others combination like Eton & RS...i would really like to have a test hear on that setup... 2.) Beside that any guidelines that i can get a reasonable price for those good high end stuff. This becos i went thought my survey & some shops realy mark up so high. 3.) How to ensure i dont get imitation stuff Alphine : WKH sticker Focal : audio active Steg: ???? 4.) After surveying for months, this my targeting setup.Pls comment HU:Alpine 9855 Mid spk: Focal 165k2p Amp : Steg Qmos 120.2x 5.) can help to enlighten me more how to we chooes an amp spec? As i seen amps with spec like 2x200W rms at 2 ohms, at 4 ohms, stereo...etcc 6.) what realy 24bit DAC converter needs or so called processor setup |

1. which line of RS? personally tried RS micro, base, competition and signature series... i could say they all worth the price you pay... tweeter plays high but not piercing... quick mid responce and sweet lily chen's vocals... no input on eton though... havent any of those... as for focal personally dun like the tweeter... kinda piercing to me... but overall good set to consider... warm amp needed though...
2. guidelines would be join local ice forums... from there you could know roughly how much your stuff gonna cost before being chop by the dealers... 3. no idea for steg... sorry... 4. well... an old saying: "A man's meat is another's poison" but where is your sub? got plans to run active? if you do why not get a 4ch instead? but its up to you la... some passive setup sounds superb also... 5. look at the rms rating rather than the max power rating... most high end amps has a "birth sheet"... normally will look at the 4ohm rating as most car speakers are 4ohm... sub amp you will need to check whether its 2ohm mono stable or not if you are getting a 4+4ohm sub... 6. not really essential... some people like 1bit sound more than 24bit... some the other way round... but some CD will need a 24bit player to play its full details but playable through normal cd player too... hope this helps... |

So i also have log into Icehifi & gr8tunes for knowledge. Does it okay to purchase high end stuff there. I mean like if i bought used an high end amp for my system, will it not perform at its good, this becos when an amp have been use long it will weaken the amps performance.HOw abt speakers components? As i was told high end speakers need to blast then only give out the optimum performance? Hope u dun mind if im asking nuts question here.Im newbie. |

well... you will hav to know what the previous owner is playing with their gears... if SQ kaki i doubt it will damage so fast la... as for amps like most electronics... it has a life cycle... but i believe good amps has a longer life as they are made of good components inside... plus some manufacturer gives out life-time warranty for factory defects... performance wise... doubt it will hav a huge degrade... if you are afraid of it... then find something tht are "young" same goes to speakers...
the "blasting" is call run-in... not actually must blast it... you can listen to normal songs... run-in periods varies from brand to brand... DLS recommend 25Hours of dynamic music... RS signature 90hours(if i remember correctly)... as for me... i frequently use pink noise for 24hours continuously... whether it gives a better performance depends on whehter you can hear the difference or not... for me... only heard the difference once on my previous tweeter... cheers... |

RS audio has awesome speakers... my dad is using RS Pro in his car wif eton amp.. great mid and clean vocal..
eton (entry level).. audited it once in sound quest (when they were still in cheras) hmmm mid bass is a lil bit lack.. focal (access) (b4 upgrade to alpine) high in trebel.. moderate mid... your planned setup HU:Alpine 9855 Mid spk: Focal 165k2p Amp : Steg Qmos 120.2x i would say it's great.. u can put the most into ur HU... those no PRO, don listen tat much larh cz those accessory shopz onli wanna earn ur money..
as for component spks, i saw some1 in the garage sales; automotive section there is some1 selling pegasus... i recommend pegasus bcz u can get the most from the amount u r paying.. as for amp, i hope u can budget more.. if can't, then use ur HU to run it 1st.. n i hope u can budget at least rm1k for a 4-channel amp.. then u can use 2 channels for ur front component and the other 2 for ur woofer (if u plan to haf 1) this sort of setup will do u very good rather than further change this n tat later.. i hope u guyz don think that i'm a silly guy n blow water here n there... i juz don 1 u guyz 2 waste all ur hard earn money 2 those accessory fellars.. ending up u drive a rm50k car and they r driving few hundred thousand car... i've paid more than rm10k for all the ICE lessons... |
