I've went to a shop to check some things out, and some brands he recommend are like kenwood,pioneer for head unit, rottweiler for speakers, amp shud be cyber scorpion....

something like that, so juz wanna check if these brands are dependable

anyway its for my friends' waja and my iswara.......so some advice would be advisable.

rottweiler is just some soso not branded brand, quite old school...while cyber scorpion confirm is chap ayam..

so not recommended to take??

how bout pegasus and directed?

highly recomended for pegasus and directed.. (pegasus to some1 might b a chap ayam but blif me tat the price tat u pay will get more than it is worth.. )

and for the topic starter... juz don think of those brand larh... how much do u budget for ICE? if u haf tight budget, plz start wif something fundamental first such as a good head unit... n who knows if u r having a good 1 enuff..

ermm actually i'm not so tight but i dont wanna spend 3-4k on the 1st time, wat i planned is a good head unit and follow by the rest, because in my opinion, the headunit, i wont change for long long long time unless its spoilt, as for the rest, if its not satisfying, i'll change when the time comes, anyway my budget is around 1500

RM1.5k can get a damn good system already... a set of comp. set + 4 channel amp. + 1 12" sub...

pegasus is from the same company of prokick... i guess pegasus is the high end stuff from them using better parts...

as for HU, i do recommend a HU wif 3 pairs of pre-out wif high voltage.. eg. 4v preout n above bcz it will b a basic thing that u'll need for an ICE setup..

Well... think of a head unit as our brain.... the source of the music you are listening to... the source tht start out the first "music chain" to the last... if your head unit couldnt give the best definition out from a song... how will the sound be good when it is coming out form the speakers... well you can say every head unit is the same... spinning the CD and and giving out the music... basically yes but what a good HU do is giving out the most accurate signal out for the amp while discarding the unwanted "noise"... this is one thing which a low quality HU lacks... dun trust me or dun feel a different between a good head unit and a cheap one... try listening them through a good headphone... i am sure you will hear the difference...

adding an amp will surely give out a better SQ as there is more power for each speaker... pushing the speakers to the max potential both SQ and SPL... but if your source is not giving out a good signal then how your system is going to improve... think about yor amp is amplifiying the "noise" and your speaker is playing the "noise" louder... would tht be good? and think how will it affect your music in the end?

so is your HU the most important thing in your setup? i think mine is...

stock system sure kaput laaa, comes with nothing, like my iswara, not even a CD player, dont say 1500, 800 also dam good, compare to stock adi

correct... head unit is juz a player that plays CD... for normal ppl, they'll check the xxW rating and thats it..

but for real, each brand's cd player has its own characteristic... for eg. alpine has a high trebel character, eclipse has a clean/natural character n so as other brands.. so, this reli depends on the taste of the listener..

then, follow by the DAC (digital analogue converter).. 1 bit DAC n 24bit DAC.. they surely make a large difference..

if the cd player is good, the amplifier in the HU itself is good as well... such as my alpine 9815.. it performs well in my bro's myvi wif stock speakers.. a good HU will last u more than 5 yrs cz my dad's Alpine HU juz had its b'day last month and its 7yrs old edi...

so... the more u pay, the more u get.. durability and satisfaction is there..

Oh tumpang tanya. How to spot fake Pioneer HUs? I see some people selling in forums like very cheap... of course they have many reasons on why it's so cheap, but I'd like to know how to spot if they're fakes.
