Hi all, just wanted to share my experience about 11.11, cancellation, and reordering.
I had made a purchase on Lazada 11.11, and had been communicating back and forth with the seller regarding the product being slightly delayed due to stock, but new stock is on the way.
As I'm in no rush, I said it's ok, I can wait, no probs.
After 5-6 days, seller told me again about the delay, I said sure, no probs, I understand as the seller is bringing it in from overseas, then repack and delivery locally. Typical la.
Another 3-4 days later, Lazada decides to cancel my order citing that the seller is out of stock and that they cannot fulfill my order.
Few problems with this:
1. Lazada never bothered to contact me to seek my consent to cancel.
2. I'm already in discussion with seller and already agreed to wait.
Kanasai, when I got the cancellation notification, the process was lightning fast, by time I logged on, process was already completed and credit card refund was underway.
Seller contacted me and I clearly do not want to cancel since I am ok to wait.
Ended up chatting with Lazada live chat person - not helpful, just keep saying sorry, ask for some proof/screenshot, but nothing useful.
I ended up emailing their top management on Thursday, and the next day their CS team called me and said sorry for canceling, and that they have taken note of my agreement with the seller, and issued me a voucher for the same amount (hint: flash code for 11.11).
(sorry, for those that want the top management email, I promised them in my email that I won't share it, but with some homework you all can figure it out la ya.)
So, for those of you who are buying things and you're willing to wait... I think it will be a good strategy to:
1. Inform Lazada via live chat of your situation and that you are in touch with the seller.
2. Tell them you're willing to wait and in agreement with seller... give screenshot if necessary, insist if you have to.
3.Inform Lazada that the seller has already confirmed new stock is arriving soon and that as a buyer you have agreed to wait. Then inform Lazada to make sure they DO NOT CANCEL your order.
Otherwise, Lazada will automatically cancel orders if sellers can't meet a certain timline, then you'll have to call customer service, refund, voucher, blablabla damn waste of ball time.
But make sure you review honestly and dun cb say no stock, slow delivery, lousy service, etc la.
I believe Lazada's system does this in an honest fashion to prevent anger and frustrating experiences.
Hope my 2 sen here helps some of you and prevents issues like this happening to sellers and buyers. Also good strategy to remember for future sales when selling spikes and stock cannot match the sudden demand.

Afaik the system will auto cancel if seller does not ship out on time, same as Shopee system. This should be seller's fault since they do not have ready stock they should set the delivery date longer.
I see possible loophole to pakat (or self dupe) to get voucher lol.
