Most banks don’t maintain their own machine. They are taken care by third party.

Even in Msia not many can get the card back. So just report lost first and request a new one when back.

Those machine are programmed to trigger alert and trap those cards like expired card / weird and suspicious card etc to avoid dispensing cash that cannot be recouped.

So no need to put so much effort to ask for same card back.
*
Yes exactly. Thats why i dont really advise to withdraw money using bp card when oversea if you are going to rely on it alot.
Use it at the merchant is the safest.

OT abit Just got my merchantrade card and tried their multi currency and its slightly better than BP in term of exchange.
Just it lack of live transaction and we can only view the statement once a month when it arrive.
Seems there is not much people into this card.

You use a CIMB ATM card to withdraw cash from CIMB's platform, not related to Cirrus/Mastercard.
*
Yeah perhaps the regional network thingie. Slot in Merchantrade Visa prepaid and tried to withdraw and it prompted 220 baht fee as well. So i guess the cheapest atm withdrawal fee at thailand is still AEON 150 baht.

I use mta card more now when oversea because i can buy the currency beforehand in the card and use it at later time in the country. Can exchange it to MYR anytime as well. Downside it does not hv real time usage posted like BP.

*
No way. No minimum purchase you need to go family mart. Wechat and alipay only for chinese wallet and verified account aka china people only.

A question to the regulars here. I normally use my Amex whenever I can while travelling abroad for the 5x treatspoint, is bigpay benefit me more compared to earning treatspoint with my maybankcard?
*
The catch whenever using cards for payment when oversea is always the conversion rate. I think BP conversion rate is always better than any other local cc. The conversion saving alone i think is much better than TP earned.

Every month spend 30k using BP will not trigger tax dept ? If let say you are just earning 5k per month but you are spending 30k on cc alone exclude all other expenses

then u got to ask urself, is the other 25k spent from legal source

In this case , they just reload using cards and withdraw it to pay back the cc and cycle it.

For overseas, bigpay better or rhb multicurrency better?
*
Depends on how you use that. Multicurrency you can lock the exchange rate at the time before you actually use it. So if at the date of transaction it will deduct straight that currency with no conversion in between.
Bigpay rate fluctuate with current mastercard rate so it depends on how you use that. Two different products , i use BP and also merchantrade and two are performing well just that merchantrade doesnt have live transaction show in app.

Rules of travel is still have multiple access to different source of money like debit , credit card plus cash in different pocket , wallet and sling bag and one more triumph card in hidden compartment inside luggage which will not go out with me just for the extreme emergency use.
I always practice this whenever i travel or go anywhere alien to me. Call me paranoid but i do really prepared for the worst of atm makan my card or card spoilt, theft and robbery etc.

er.. hello ladies & gentlemen, i'm kinda late to the game, as usual heeheh
i've searched through this topic/thread but didnt find or didnt notice - thus asking here:
1. Anythone tried using PB Quantum to reload >$1.2K AND THEN calling PB to change the transaction to Flexi Pay 12 months 0% $0 fees?

2. Anyone tried using HLB cards to reload >$2K AND THEN going into hongleongconnect to apply for conversion to flexi pay (until june 30th for selected customers) to Flexi Pay 12 months 0% $0 fees?

Just thinking about the two for cash flow / inlieu of Balance Transfer which nearly all major banks have cut-off - whether anyone tested
else
i'll share my findings once done - gotta wait 7 days for the BigPay card and then test with HLB first since time-sensitive & max BigPay credit is $10K only. PB Quantum Mastercard's no time sensitive so.. test after my HLB done smile.gif
*
Personally i never did the flexi payment but always got the sms after i top up BP with my business visa card HLB.

RM0.00 HLB: Convert your spending to 0% 18-mth Installment Payment Plan. Call us @ 0376268899 & know more @ www.hlb.com.my/behappy. T&Cs apply. Ok, go spend!

Most of the time will receive but not everytime.

Not worth to use BP in thailand, as their ATM charges extra withdrawal fee.

Try to search back my post sharing regarding thailand withdrawal.
*
For normal swipe its still worth it as the exchange is almost the same if not better , and also it save you the hassle for you to withdraw directly rather than change it at money changer.

QUOTE(laymank @ May 24 2019, 01:08 PM)
Post #1 stated MBB Thai does not impose any ATM fee. I wonder if that still applicable.
*
So far i never see any MBB atm over here , very difficult to see maybank .

Maybank Kim Eng?
*
Yes its maybank kim eng but i never see the atm before, btw driving to maybank with those jam and time wasted is not worth the 150 baht saving imo lol. Its virtually zero maybank atm in lotus big c central the mall and others.
Cimb is still visible to me once in a while but not mbb kim eng. i have withdraw several time at cimb and even with their regional withdrawal fee waiver the conversion is just too bad.
Board rate at 7.65 in major money changer, i withdraw at cimb at 7.49 . If i withdraw the same amount from BP at Aeon atm with 150 baht fee , after rounding up with the RM10 from bp i still get around 7.64 all in.

Tried it at McDonald's Thai , they insert my card into terminal without asking me to enter pin. Transaction passed through. Is that bypass pin normal?
*
Most if not all merchant in thai doesnt require pin. I think i still not yet come across any terminal which require pin input.
