JPJ is not closed. It's your SA or Bermaz who is closed. My car's reg & road tax was done on 18/3 and delivered same day.

Once u use silicone wiper, u will stick with it in future. Not sure scientifically but once u had silicone wiper, the wiper kinda make rain-x effect on windshield during rain.

I like silicone cz im too lazy raise up my wiper during hot days especially in office parking etc. And it perform much better than rubber even when new.
I also used only silicon wipers in all my cars for past 10 yrs. Believe it or not, I only need to change the PIAA silicon wipers once every 5 years, the last pair I changed was not because the blade was worn but because the metal frame was rusted and looked unsightly. If I had just cleaned the rust away I could've use for another year maybe.

However, the PIAA Si-Tech silicon wipers I found online for CX-5 are universal fit and the adapter looks quite ugly, not streamlined, but I've not seen it in real life, not sure if it will fit flush like original. 4S should be a good alternative at less than half the price of PIAA.

showroom back to operation tomorrow?
still thinking if i should register my car or wait little longer lol
*
Service centre received permission to reopen last week. Showroom also should be opened this week, if you have no where to drive the new car to, why not wait a while? My car is just parked at home since I took delivery beginning of MCO, depreciating every day while it's used for essential groceries runs once a week only. Not even broken in yet.

btw, I got a call from Mazda conducting after sales survey, was also informed that the warranty for all existing owners will be extended for 2 more months from original date due to MCO - this was reported in the media as well. New registrations after MCO probably not going to get extra months but no harm asking. LOL. biggrin.gif

on top of Skytint?  sweat.gif don't feel wasted ah

btw are you going to do coating and PPF too?
*
If got budget, better do PPF. Mazda paint is very fragile. My CX-5 got a few stone chips in 1 day when I drove on a short stretch of LDP in Puchong and encountered a couple of lorries that threw up some sand/pebbles. The coating guys showed me the stones chips when doing coating. Regretted not doing the PPF earlier. But got a good deal on the coatings tho

Enjoy your car. Do report back on your 2.5T's fuel consumption. Mine was unsurprisingly.......high! 😄

Well, I think if I heavy foot abit it will be around 7km per litre but if I jaga sikit and use cruise control on highway will be about 10km per litre. I had done about 300km so far.
The acceleration was so good and without much thinking you aldy reach 150km/h. Btw I see alot of owner complaint the brake wasnt good on cx-5, what is your opinion on this?
*
Yup, if one is concerned about FC this 2.5T wouldn't be their choice haha.

The brakes are decent, I heard it's upgraded with twin calipers and bigger rotor than standard CX-5 brakes but not sure of the exact spec. However if one carried too much speed into a corner the heavy SUV handling and braking is quite different from a car that's for sure.

I didn't go for any coating or PPF. I go for the traditional wax and polish services hahaha
*
I used to go for traditional polish and wax and I have spent over RM1k on Meguiars products with my previous car. Reason I went for coating this time: 1. Lazy to diy nowadays 2. good detailing centres are hard to come by and the waiting time is long. 3. If do 2x a year detailing session, total cost over 5 years will be more than 1 time cost for coating of about 2-3k. 4. If your coating wears out for any reason or u repainted a panel u can go back for recoating foc, so it made more sense for a lazy person. I went with Ceramic Pro as they have a 30% off Raya promo.

Guys and gals,
I detailed my own cars with Meguiars and Autoglym for over 20 years, but now I'm a believer in coating, I think the nano coating products have matured and there are properly trained professionals applying the coatings.

1.It really saved me a lot of time and money in weekly washings. Used to pay RM20 per car weekly for premium wash w/Meguiars shampoo, now I can wash both cars in 30-60 minutes (the sweat and exercise is priceless). No need to take one car to car wash, wait 45-60min or more for them to wash them go home take another car to wash and wait again. Saved RM40 easily per week and hours in waiting time.

2. Calculate the cost of premium waxes, shampoos, and time you spent on detailing, or pay RM350-500 for simple 4-5 step detailing every 6 months and you already spent more than the cost of coating after 1 year.

3. Don't use any polish on coated cars including Soft99. The mild polishing properties will one day wear out the coating.

4. Don't use harsh chemicals or even so called mild wheel cleaners on your wheels either, they may eat away the coatings. Your wheels were already nano coated. The brake dust will just rinse off or come off with a little wipe. I didn't even need to apply tire shine on the tires the past 2 months and they just shine with a rinse. I don't want to dirty my car wash sponge by wiping the rubber surface. I just rinse the tyres and let it dry by itself. If you sent your car to car wash then good luck, they will scrub away the coating on the tyres with stuff brushed and strong detergent, then you have to keep using tyre shine to make them look good again.

5. Do not just rinse and wipe even on a coated surface, more so if you only protect the paint with wax product. There might be fine dust or contamination that doesn't get rinsed away by water, when you wipe it dry you will spread the contamination and risk scratching the surface and cause swirl marks. Always use a good shampoo to wash.

6. The piano black surface is as brilliant as a black mirror after coating. No more swirl marks, the coating is supposedly 9H hardness I kinda doubt it but I still haven't seen any swirl marks till now. Try to protect these piano black surface with wax and compare after 2 months of own washings, or just 1 trip to a commercial car wash and see how it looks under the sun? Apply 95% tint film to rear windows and you got a really awesome looking gloss black B pillar blending with the dark windows all the way through to the rear windscreen. Awesome.

7. If you have swirl marks upon new car delivery, no worries, the coating guys will spend half a day on paint correction and prep all the surfaces before they spray a fine mist of nano coating and then cure the coating under infra red lamps. The painted surface and even the glass and plastic cladding will look flawless after a good coating job.

8. After a heavy rain, even if I park the car indoors the water beads will just dry up and left the surface clean and shiny with hardly any trace of dirt. I sometimes go 2 weeks without washing during rainy weather and the car never looked dirty. However you will get water spots if you park the car under the hot sun right after rain stopped and the water beads dried up quickly under the sun.

No problem. Sharing is caring biggrin.gif

I coated both my new Mazdas with Ceramic Pro. It's not too expensive, between 1.8 to 2k for the 5 year warranty 3 layers dunno what gold or silver package during their promo. 7 year warranty with 5 layers and interior coating goes for a lot more I didn't bother to ask. I think Sierra Glow also about this price range with similar level of service.

After all, where else can you get 5 years of easy maintenance and shine at this kind of price, with unlimited touch up if water beading deteriorates during the 5 years, plus free recoating if you repainted some panels due to accident or dents?

Yes bro, inside vacumn and polish the leather seats would require nearly 1 hr, outside wash 1hr, wheels and dry another 30-40 mins. It’s a tiring process.

When I check the forum, I see others before doing wax/ polishing, u need to clay which is a time consuming process. So that’s why I just go coating in the end.

I hardly see any dust in my car nowadays. It takes me 5 mins to wipe down the interior. Vacuum the carpets maybe once a month. Are you still using the coil mats that Bermaz supplied? Those yucky coil mats trap all the dust on our shoes and blow throughout the car. I told my SA DO NOT install those coil mats on my car, I brought my own 3D Maxpider mats that I bought and fitted the mats when I collect my new car. I rinse those mats whenever it gets some sand or soil. Clean floormats kept my car pretty much dust free.

Oh btw, I got a set of original unopened Mazda floor mats to let go. Anybody wanna make an offer? biggrin.gif

Wanted to change the mat too, but maybe later. I haven’t even driven my new ride to work lol 🤣 Will do this Sunday
*
Just order the mats online, they ship out within few days. But hurry before everyone else here order until they run out of stock, haha. These mats are imported.
https://www.3dmats.com.my/products/mazda-cx...19-kagu-car-mat

I also have Trapo mats on wife's 2019 Mazda before I found this local disty for 3D mat for my CX-5. I'm going to get another set of 3D mat for her car as well.

3D mat as the name suggests, is designed with a 3 dimensional scan of a particular car's floor and then it is moulded to exact shape, the edge rises up by a couple of cm from the floor so even if you spilled a drink or the kids had an 'accident' biggrin.gif the liquid won't leak to the carpet at the side. Just take out the mat and rinse, wipe dry and it will be nice and clean. One more benefit is the driver's side mat covers the dead pedal-which is the foot rest on the left, Trapo doesn't. The cargo liner is also very nice, it is antislip so our luggage in the boot will not simply shift around. Yes it is more costly but they look good and worth the premium imho. LOL.

Huh.. never thought about the car mat and dust. No wonder my car so fast dusty 😂😂
*
Yes bro, it's not the only reason but one of the main reasons for dusty interior. those coil mats hide all the dust from our feet deep below so we never noticed it. If we wash and rinse them religiously every day then the coil mats do infact help keep dust from scattering better than just plain floor mats. But most of us don't do that so when the mats are dirty and we drive with the AC fan blowing, dust will slowly fly around. Lol. biggrin.gif

I'm more interested to retrofit paddle shifters than MRCC. But Mazda 4S don't provide the official upgrade kits yet, and I don't want to risk fitting it outside and voiding warranty.

Did the installer splice the 12v power source from within the rearview mirror cover? Afaik there is no USB outlet inside that cover but only got power supply for the rain sensing camera, autodimming mirror and the lane keep assist cameras.

I wanted to install Thinkware U1000 or iRoad X10 but until now still looking for better dashcam solution, so I temporarily DIY a 70mai Pro. I concealed all the wiring in the headliner, down the A pillar all the way until the center console and into the 12v socket. My review of 70mai Pro? 2K video not that great. Will need 4k video to catch the no plate of fast moving motorbikes. Function and feature wise it is adequate, but of coz the biggest weakness is no rear view camera. Also tends to reboot by itself.

Once I found a perfect dashcam for the CX-5 I'll just fix this 70mai to my old car.

I am using Iroad x 10, if parking more then 10hrs and start the car, it mention battery/recording cut off to save battery. Not sure others got face this issue or not. it should only record if there is motion but not sure why this is happening.
*
X10 has continuos time lapse recording during parking mode even if nothing happens, if something happened then it will save a 1 minute recording before and after the event. So It will draw power in parking mode until a preset minimum voltage is reached before it shuts down. You have to buy a separate battery pack to avoid using the car's main starter battery.
