planning to buy a headfon soon so i need a recomendation. between sennheiser HD280pro n HD555... i manage to get the hd280 cheaper then the hd555... but will consider the hd555 if its way better then HD280pro...

Priority: Music
Usage: PC
Type: Noise isolation. Or at least one that covers the entire ear.

I currently own a Creative EP-630 for a few months now. I was just wondering, with that kind of budget (below RM100), is it possible to acquire a headphone that could at least match the EP-630 in every aspect?

i'm looking or a decent circumaural headphones here. For usage with my iPod and my coming-soon laptop. currently not looking for amps as my budget is somewhat tight.

would be using it for music and gaming, quite obviously. i know naught about headphones so a little guidance is needed here. budget would be around the 200 range.

i'm not much of a bass junkie or whatsoever. but good surround and decent bass would be good. as i'm a fan of rock, metal and alternative.

decent volume, means not at a volume damaging to the ears right? is it better than the default SonyEricsson walkman phone earphones? i mean, the sound buffering effect?

edit: been checking a little and the MylarOne X3i and XBi seems to be very popular. is it really that wonderful? i'm curious as to the main difference between an in-ear headphone and a circumaural type one. i always thought circumaurals are better.

circumaurals ARE generally better.... but each has its own pros and cons of course.. depends on what u want...and ur ursage as well i guess.

and yeah..the Mylars are excellent. i have the X3 (not X3i) and i think its awesome.

ahh.. so basically, for plug and play usage and all, the mylarone would be better? i assume that when wallabies say "with proper setup" what is meant is that with amps and all?

hmm... i plan to use the headphones with my iPod Classic and my Vostro 1500. would a Mylarone be good enough? of course i'm a gamer as well and a rock junkie so the quality is a matter...

Ah Guan, got any recommendations around the RM350 to 450 mark? been eyeing SR60s for a long, long time now, but they aren't as comfy as the philips after 3 hours of non-stop listening. I have been reading reviews and doing research for months. Ok the topic is Grado, i tried Grado SR60 and SR80 and they sound wouderful and detail. I have used Sennheiser before and they are just as nice with different flavor.

Finally i bought Grado since they are most suited for Metal music (as they say in the review), did i regret not trying them out for long period of listening...YES..i knew the this before i got them, but i never thought it was this bad....i never imagine anyone could get hurt this way, the pain was confusing and can be mistaken for headache, if anyone has a similar experience...guess no more,its the headphone, finally i bought a new headphone..love the grado sound but the pain...argghhh

The thing is Grado 325i sits on the ear and Sennhieser cover the whole ear which means the padding sits on your head or cheek if you like. I know for sure headphone like Grado 325i will hurt your ear is you wear them for long period of time, my Koss Portapro has the same effect.

Many websites will tell you Grado sounds nice, its true, but as Malaysians are are you willing to mod something after spending $$$$ on, if the headphone needs modding to improve the product even as new, than its clear that it is not a good product or bad design, its like putting on a pair of beautiful, expensive new jeans which doesnt fit.

I think sound is personal, unique and depends alot on personal reference. What ever is good for me might sound horrible for anyone else.
What im trying to say is, some websites offer advice or review which i consider as bias, missleading and over rated.

Modding the ear pad will improve comfort but modding a new RM1000 headphone and ruinning the spec and the warranty is not my cup of tea, and if end users can improve the sound quality of these headphone at home, than surely the manufacturer hads not done a good job of making their product the best possible.

I love the sound of Grados, but its a pain i cant live with when listening to hours of music...its painful..you should try it...its a shame the best set of cans for me also comes with the worse sensation...its like a nagging wife, u love the person but hate the noise, in case of Grado, i love the sound but just cant stand the pain.

Beyer Dynamics? hmmm if not mistaken the soundstage isn't as good as the HP1000 without amp right? I don't use amps now, waste of time for me to setup here and there, so my phones are plugged in straight to the output source which has quite a bit of white noise (motherboard mah). Other than that, you know anybody who has earmuff spares for the hp1000 and cables? my plughead quite rusty jor, and the clips on the earmuffs connecting them to the headphone bodies are weak due to regular cleaning.

Haha I see.I've been using open headphones when I'm on the move and environmental noise is usually not too intrusive to me.I don't think I'd want to be lost in the music by too much when I'm outside, there was once I realized that I was in the wrong train a little late because I could not hear the announcements due to the headphones and the crowd blocking my view
If the mylars prove to have a reasonably significant improvement over the Yuin PK3 or even able to match PK2 I'd go for the mylars.
