Recent wifi speed is so slow, my Unifi plan is 50mbps, but I can only get 20-30mbps max and its not even stable, sometimes dropping to 9-10mbps or lower, watching twitch = endless buffering even if its on 480p or lower, so I tried connecting using a LAN cable into my laptop (I'm using desktop with Wifi) and the speed is normal which is close to 48-50mbps. Note : Before this month or so, the speed on Wifi is always decent, 40-50mbps.So I would assume the problem is with the router ? Does anyone has similar problem before too ? Just want to confirm if its my router's problem so I can decide to replace it or not. And if its my router problem, can you also recommend a decent router with good coverage ? I'm currently living in a double storey house and my desktop is on second floor, but I'm going to move into a new house with 3 floors soon, so preferably I would like to get a decent router that can support 3 floors house. If its not possible, what are the best possible ways to expand the coverage ? Thanks in advance. Budget would be around RM600-700. This post has been edited by DrEaMmyZ: Jul 14 2018, 11:07 AM

Decent router for 3 floors will be Asus RT-AC86U, or mesh WiFi.

QUOTE(DrEaMmyZ @ Jul 14 2018, 11:09 AM) Currently using L7-N-R2000 from D-Link. Yes that is really old and not fit for use anymore, as it only supports up to 300Mbps and only N and its hardware is really insufficient. Time for you to upgrade to a much better router.

I might increase my budget if the router is really excellent and worth it, but for now I think I would stick with my budget first. (RM600-700)

The wireless coverage is excellent.

If you are not, try to go to TMpoint and renew your contract for a lower fee, and ask them to give you completely new equipment. Your equipment is all really old now. How do I get the PPPoE username and password ? Or should I just do this : Option 1: replace the faulty equipment for free and your contract period will be extended starting from the date of the equipment replacement (free replacement of the faulty equipment with contract renewal + RM50 for nominal charges)The equipment that you mention really old are both the router and the modem ? Normally will they help me replace both ? This post has been edited by DrEaMmyZ: Jul 14 2018, 12:08 PM

Normally will they help me replace both ? Just call 100 or TM live chat to know your PPPoE username and password. They might or might not help you to replace it. You can ask them if they will replace your router, modem, and UnifTV decoder. You would do better to go to a TMpoint to negotiate with them. See if they can give you a better price for your current Unifi, and if all the equipment can be changed if you resign contract with them. Otherwise, just change the router and you will be fine.

Using Asus RT-AC68U in a 3 storey home, with no issue.
Router is located in the middle of the house (master bedroom).
You may need to test the best channel number to reduce congestion / interference from the neighbours ...
