GT-AC5300

According to the seller above, they say the GT-AC5300 is able to flash with Merlin FW? Can someone confirm this?

Cause I remember I read some where, RT-AC5300 & GT-AC5300 can't be flash with Merlin~

Then it seems like the seller is not very knowledgeable about his own product. Which make me think twice before getting a router from them.

But this seller has been operate for 9 years, I've PM them, just wait and see what is their reply~

I don't really need Merlin nor do I know what is the extra features it has. It just that the seller wrote in this thread that saying GT-AC5300 can flash with Merlin. It makes me doubt about his credibility since his price is the cheapest among others. Have to think for the worst if I wanna claim warranty but end up his store no where to be contacted, then saving RMB200+- is not worth the risk~


Any idea how is the performance of this GT-AC5300? I can't seem to find some local review about this unit, only RT-AC5300 is available....

Guys, just to clarify one thing, all the Asus routers that we buy from taobao, can support unifiTV right? Model like RT-AC86U, RT-AC5300 and GT-AC5300...

Just a quick guess, I think is the colour code for that router. Cause I saw this "BUCEROS" under the colour code there...

Should be no problem, cause Asus router is using global firmware. And this model carry the latest Wifi standard, which suppose to be 4X faster than AC, according to their advertising~

Maybe some expert here can clarify this for you. So far I know Unifi is compatible.

I've been surveying around taobao, most of the reputable seller there doesn't seem to direct ship to Malaysia. Which means you need to use a forwarder.

Seller > Forwarder Warehouse > Your Malaysia Address

P/S : Routers are considering as sensitive items, I've tried comparing the cost direct shipping by taobao and forwarder, it seems like direct shipping is slightly cheaper. But I'm not sure whether it has included the sensitive item surcharge or not. (As for forwarder, they will charge sensitive item surcharge, whereby the router is rarely going to hold by the custom when it arrive in Malaysia) At least this is my understanding from them.

Do correct me if I'm wrong~

If during non 11.11, usually seller will ship out the next day once we place order with them. And usually it will arrive the next day to the forwarder. Once the forwarder send out the parcel, usually it takes 5 working days to arrive in Malaysia.

This is what I got from my forwarder. But during peak season like 11.11, non of the seller or forwarder can promise the duration of shipping out the goods, due to the logistic in the country will be congested...

Back to a week ago when I start surveying for router, this store already not doing direct shipping to Malaysia. The only way to buy from them is to ship it to a forwarder warehouse, then let the forwarder ship back to Malaysia to you~

I'm waiting for the 11.11 sales for GT-AC5300. The difference quite big, as of now is RMB 2699, when 11.11 all indicate ard RMB 1xx6. So assuming is RMB 1996, is going to be RMB 703 cheaper~

Indeed, not worth the risk for just merely RMB 100 lesser. And not to mention the delivery time might need longer~
