You think software developers and firmware engineers provide update just for suka suka?
Firmware / software updates are created to fix bugs & to close a vulnerability

If you want to live with the bugs / vulnerabilities in your devices so other people can hack into your network & access your data, then yes, you don't need to update

Are you trying to use the port 4 for internet or to watch HyppTV?

Turn off the HyppTV for 1 minute by disconnecting the AC adaptor but leave the ethernet cable plugged in
Reconnect the AC adaptor but let it run at the home screen for a few minutes before you actually open the HyppTV channels

Strict only with the US & it's allies

What device are you using when you do the speedtest?

Try this:
Set the Wireless Mode to N/AC Mixed
Set the Channel Bandwidth to 80 MHz

Remember to set the wireless region to Australia to get the best wireless coverage

Go to LAN > IPTV > Select ISP Profle > Choose UniFi Home > Apply

Then go to WAN > Internet Connection > Account Settings > Type your UniFi PPPoE username & password > Apply

HyppTV must be connected to LAN port 4 on the router, not the modem

If you don't use the HyppTV at all, you can choose UniFi-Business in the ISP profile, this way you can connect other device to the port 4

If you use MESH network, then stay with stock firmware
If you don't use MESH network, then go with Merlin

Possible incompatiblity issues between Cypress BCM43596 chipset and the Broadcom chipset in the Huawei WS880

*Cypress BCM43596 is the Wi-Fi / Bluetooth chipset used in Huawei P20 Pro

If other routers can supply 300Mb/s to your Huawei P20 Pro then the issue is with the Huawei WS880 router
