QUOTE(Parrot @ Jun 3 2007, 12:51 PM)
That could turn on vets who played the original Need for Speed and Porsche Unleashed, but not arcade gamers who started out with more arcade versions of NFS games. The NFS series had only become really popular after the Underground games was released, and games between these and ProStreet were still heavily arcade.

If ProStreet is to be a simulation game, it's a really risky gamble. This game better have accessibility to both NFS gamers, or it's going to end up alienating a large group of people.

ProStreet will still be arcade game la.. Just that it's less arcade. Like Porsche version, it's still arcade to me but it require some driving skill to play. If you play GTR2, rfactor or LFS, those game are real sim. nod.gif

I'm not implying the game is going to be too realistic, but simply having real-world physics is enough to make the game harder to play. Imagine having to deal with maintaining control of a car while competing with increasingly difficult opponents in a race. You want to zip, zip, zip and win as soon as you start a race, not deal with the bullcrap in between. There are not many arcade gamers that would last more a week playing games like this; they just don't have the patience or time.

That's why Porsche Unleashed didn't catch on. It was too complicated for arcade gamers 'taste, with too many individual vehicle parts to deal with, sensitive controls and difficult AI. That's why I have to disagree with NFS:PU being arcade.

well, i prefer Porsche.. Test your driving skill rather than superb fast car always win tongue.gif Anyway, i think this version will be like that, else play carbon la.. Super easy to win-win and superb short career whistling.gif

There’s certainly going to be a story, there’s a reason to race, but I don’t think it’ll be as recognizable as anything that was in Most Wanted or Carbon.

After 4 years being fed with illegal street racing storylines, maybe the changes is good. It could be the typical "rookie driver route to the top" storyline. That could be a perfect continuation from Underground --> Most Wanted --> Carbon story.

For the record, NFS:PU is also one of my most favorite NFS games in the series, mostly for its attention to detail and a wealth of info on Porsche cars (can't say much about the dumbed down police though). Just needed to clear that up.

i want all those engine parts, sound system, interior design, body kits all to be separated
more choices please NFS
underground 2 still have the most to choose
but too bad less choices for the interior
such as seats, player, steering and all the interior parts
and please include the police for god sake
i still love NFS 3 where you can use the police car rclxms.gif

white angel: If it's going to be track racing, I doubt there will be sound system or a lot of interior options. You would want your car to be as light as possible.

Mie: Drag will be back in ProStreet.

Parrot: I share the same feeling with you regarding NFS:PU. nod.gif

After Underground 2, the NFS series was hitting rock-bottom, big time and fast. Most Wanted wasn't all that greet. Carbon was just unnecessary.
I was waiting when EA BlackBox was going to revamp the entire series, change the whole game engine, and FINALLY, add damage effects...
My prayers have been answers ::

details of cars, yeah, VERY detailed. smokes looks to be the show here, seemed like blackbox is emphasizing on them. graphic wise, objects are roughly drawn, but acceptable. and one thing, is that HDR???

I don't know if it's HDR but I've read somewhere that those smoke where created with Pixel Shader 3.0. If that's true, isn't that mean that many have to changed their gfx? ohmy.gif
