I am not telling them what to buy , I am offering them a recommendation. I don't benefit from them at all , in fact one of the brand PR (not Sharp) wasn't too happy about me bashing their TV openly .

I just don't understand why are you so bitter about the other brands you have to trash talk about them in your own thread .
Every time someone give a different opinion , you become desperate and criticize them cynically . How many times have you called these " TV GURUS " out in your thread ? So much that someone else has to message me about it.

Can't you just accept the fact there is no perfect TV and there are different needs for everyone ?

I have recently started to work for several projects for TV brands in China but I have never claim that I am "good", nobody is ever good enough in the industry that claims to have a breakthrough in every fortnite.
Back to the topic ,  the guy asked for a TV for sports . The Sharp model 6800x just happen to have a fairly limited 60 hz refresh rate & doesn't support any motion interpolation features . The x8500f is much better in regard , what's wrong with that ? Shouldn't take a genius to figure all these out to begin with .
I have had enough dramas with the brand cultist these days , this will be my last reply on the issue . I am sorry if others have to witness the drama , my intention has always been to focus on TV displays , and just them alone .

i dun trash other brands of tv or anything else, unlike u.

i actually do not comment on brands or even models i NEVER used.

i only comment on things i have actually used.

u, on the other hand like to say this n that even if u seen or touch it it for just 1 min.

next time u wanna post something about a certain tv, please state how many hours, days, and weeks u have used it.

Hi sifus,
please help to confirm. If I purchase Sony X7000F, then I purchase another android box and connect to the tv, it will be the same as X7500F???
any other differences?

my major concern is, the built in android will stop running after 3years... what is the point to own it then.
Regarding to the bluetooth audio, isn't using external speakers better? or do you mean the tv don't support bluetooth connection to the speakers?

the androidtv os in smart tvs is a little diff from android boxes using generic android.
androidtv is not as open as generic android, the apps in playstore are approved by google, but far less compared to generic.
can say the security against malicious apps is much tighter, as u will expect since it will affect the TV if a bad one gets in.
androidtv in a tv has its advantages - there are apps that work on it but will not work on some generic boxes, e.g. astrogo, unifi playtv.
it is also, like u said, convenient - just one power switch and one remote, u get the app going.

androidtv stops working after 3 years...?
more like if the android version is too old and no more updates, some newer apps may not work.
no diff from android phones, tablets, boxes.
however, current tv's come with android 7 or 8... they will stay good for 5 years at least, i wud think.
my sharp androidtv is 3 years old now... android6, working fine; i expect no problems for 2-3 more years at least... until android6 is totally obsolete.
at this time, android5 is still going strong; only android4 is badly handicapped.

android boxes, on the other hand offer more apps, more versatility and for better boxes, offer better video and audio capabilities.
hard to say if one is better than the other.
more like each has own advantages, a matter what n how u use them.
best is to have both, of course!

astrogo, unifi playtv can run on android boxes if your hide the root. so some configuration needed.

a) internal player must able to play hevc h.265 hdr video with no flaw.
i am not going to fork out extra money to buy a device to play hdr video.
both Samsung definitely out because no dts license if not mistaken. (please correct me if i am wrong)
i am not watching netflix 4k hdr, while hdr movie for download always comes with dts-hd audio track. (piracy issue not part of discussion here, thanks)
u might argue that i can always get a cheap android tv box for hevc h.265 video playback, erm i can tell you android tv box couldn't meet my standard in frame rate issue. maybe you guys can overcome this problem but i tried mine it doesn't play as smooth as my blu-ray player.
Update: after trying numerous setting, finally i could get the frame rate right. refer here: https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=91412021
however my blu-ray player only good for full hd h.264, therefore i set a criteria in choosing tv: the internal player of tv must be able to handle hevc h.265 hdr and dts core at least.
this audio requirement is an impt aspect some do not know.
one may be disappointed to find no audio when playing back certain files.

it is true that some tv's cannot playback audio of dts/dtshdma/dtsx (or the core) audio tracks with native player due to missing license or whatever.
those using androidtv have a way out by using other player apps like kodi, enable transcoding.
i do not know how others will deal with it besides getting separate player.

and agree... cheap box player is not better than the tv player.

separate player meh...extra money, extra box, extra adapter, extra hdmi cable, extra remote control, extra settings, extra updates, extra time, space, hdmi slot, power socket occupied, extra learning curve for family members.

in short, user experience matter.

surely impt for others to be able to use the TV easily.

but since u mentioned a 64gb hdr remux file, i wud think the time will come u get yr hands on an even bigger bdmv file and good player to deliver the best to the tv and a home theater! biggrin.gif

LG brand..  I used to love them coz their appliances are full of features.  But this is what I encountered lately.. :

1. LG Aircond, used for 6 years, parts are now discontinued - (remote control unit is faulty in the indoor unit)..
2. LG LED TV.  6th year too.. Repaired once during the 3rd year, and now HDMI ports giving up, and the relevant part (the mainboard) is also discontinued.

So, i guess it is their aggressive  product development that they are focusing on, never put your hope on using the product with appropriate parts and support after 5th or 6th year.   Have to go back to Pana for aircond, and now switching to Sony with at least 5 years warranty..
*
normal consumer behavior - being loyal to the brands u have good exp with.

aircond... 6 years? that's very poor. i have some mitsubishi that are 20 years, still going with parts.

QUOTE(tishaban @ Jan 10 2019, 10:59 AM)
I'd say all manufacturers don't build stuff to last nowadays, Sony and Panasonic included. Your issues started in year 6 so I'm not sure what relevance a 5-year warranty would be. Sony could still discontinue the parts after year 5, fulfill all their requirements for warranty support and you won't be able to repair your TV.

I guess we're all out of luck nowadays. sad.gif
*
generally, that is true - we r living in a throw-away society; electronics/computer/IT tech move too fast... nobody make them to last too long.

still, if 5-6 years, that's average i wud think. 3-4 is too short, will feel like a sucker. >7 years will be a bonus.

which is also why u have to be in the highest income/spending segment to spend rm10-20k on a "best-best" tv that may last <5 years.
