QUOTE(yvliew @ Dec 22 2018, 01:10 AM) i assume yr box is running on androidtv os.i do not hv that box but smart tv androidtv... so, should be same. 8.2.4 failed to work, so updated to 8.2.6 - ok, works fine now. maybe below i used is useful for you: QUOTE 1. install x-plore app from tv playstore. this is a file manager... to read and install apps u hv in a thumb drive. during installation, u may find the word "install" washed out, can't install. if so, use a simple trick, on/off of remote, to resume installation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuEYd1fpstU&feature=youtu.be 2. astrogo needs a mouse to navigate - can use any wireless mouse, airmouse. 3. need to install and set to default the indic keyboard from tv playstore as the default leanback keyboard is incompatible. 4. need to install a rotation lock app to get landscape rather than portrait. such an app cannot be found in tv playstore, get it from pc. e.g.: https://apkpure.com/set-orientation/com.goo....setorientation after installation, open it, set to adaptive/landscape. 5. astrogo needs a package installer - this, u achieve by installing a browser. get apk from pc... can use chrome or brave or firefox. |

QUOTE(voncrane @ Dec 25 2018, 11:31 PM) not sure, but i tot chromecast will be able to do that since u r casting astrogo video from phone/tablet to it?as long as phone/tablet runs the app fine, it should cast thru chromecast...? no diff if u cast from phone/tablet to smart tv's with googlecast built inside tv? display/aspect ratio may suck, though. |

QUOTE(kent_lee @ Dec 26 2018, 12:24 AM) Hmmm.. does this mean i won't be able to mirror/ cast a video playing on AOTG app (android) on the phone to the TV via Chromecast? Sorry i'm new to this. Chromecast has its own dedicated apps, but still requires another mobile device to act as it's remote control. However, that other device ONLY acts as it's remote, but the Chromecast device uses its app (Chromecast enabled apps) to directly connect to the service and stream. For instance.. Netflix.... You launch the Netflix app on your phone, connected to the same Wi-Fi network, both the phone app and chromecast device detects this and launches its Netflix app and streams directly. Processing is done using the Chromecast. AOTG doesn't have such feature as it's not a Chromecast-enabled app.You can Cast your Android screen from the Google Home app... Though experience will vary and won't be as smooth as the Chromecast apps. This post has been edited by voncrane: Dec 26 2018, 08:04 PM |

Sorry i'm new to this. in short, yes, u can.BUT... but the display u get on the tv may not be full screen. if chromecast 3 is similar to googlecast or chromecast-built-in in smart tv's, some astrogo channels will be like 2/3 size; some may have wrong aspect ratio. |

I'm looking for the most efficient/ cost effective way to occasionally watch AOTG on the 'non smart' TV via the phone. Was looking at at micro USB - HDMI adapter cables. But frm understanding those wont have good picture quality i'm guessing it will be similar to casting frm google home app like you've explained above. What would be the most fuss free way to go about doing that? Something like a MiBox?You can Cast your Android screen from the Google Home app... What would be the most fuss free way to go about doing that? Something like a MiBox? I can't remember at the moment if the app is compatible with the MiBox. But it probably isn't. Best would be to buy a Minix box like the Neo U1 or Neo U9-H.. No tinkering required, the app will just work. I know cuz I use the Neo U1 and the app works..Cheaper? Mecool M8S Pro L.. Though, some tinkering is required. Personally, I wouldn't condone using the phone connected via MHL HDMI to the TV, but if that's your preference.. Can, cheaper to just get the cable or an adapter.. |
