I dont see much mention on philips tv. The pricing point seems so low compared to others. But hardly any reviews or mention. Any idea why? I also cant find any online shop selling their OLED screens
*
Desahome was selling their flagship Philips Razor OLEDS , sold out already .

Very limited stock due to (un)popularity .

I would suggest you buy SONY. I am using Sony X800H 4K LCD 43inche. It's awesome.
Some of my friends have bad experiences with Samsung.
And not sure about LG.

Is it very good, or very cheap? (or both?)
*
It was priced a bit lower than Panasonic and Sony's if I remember correctly.

But yes it is on par with the PQ you get from the other brands .

Philips Ambilight is also pretty awesome if you have a wide large wall behind the TV .

Both Sony and Samsung Malaysia has started advertising it's 2020 models on their respective websites. Not sure about other makes though.
*
Samsung was planning to launch their TV within the month of April but the plan has been changed / delayed to May , may be delayed further depends on when MCO is lifted .

seems odd the sony x90h page was removed from sony malaysia website. are they updating the page or release delay they decide to remove the page? hmm
*
Not just X90H , the entire 2020 line up has been removed temporarily as Sony is unsure of when they are going to release the new models here .

Hi All,

I am planning to get a new TV for my mum. Budget around or below 2.8k.
So I have below in my mind, perhaps can get some pointers from you guys.

1. Samsung 55' RU7100
(Found online seller selling below 3k)
3. Samsung 55' NU7090
4. Sharp 4TC60AH8X

Any other recommendation is highly appreciated. Thanks!
*
2. Samsung 55' RU7400 <---

Samsung's new lineup has quietly sneaked into the MY market . The pricing is slightly more competent than last year on top of an initial RM300 discount .

The new 55 " FALD Q95T is available for just a smidge less than 10k . Probably going to drop down to 7-8k by the end of the year .
Looks like Samsung is more serious about going face2face with LG's OLED this year . This will likely be the best 4k LCD TV we are going to get in MY this year .

The new mid range king - Q80T which is also a FALD TV is also available for RM6000 ish , expect the price to drop down to last last year's NU8000 levels later this year .

The TU series seems to have replaced the basic models .
Again I recommend staying away from those as they have been castrated by Samsung unless you just want a screen to stare at .

No news from Sony's 2020 lineup , yet .

It pleases me to see so many new TV with an actual Local Dimming system landing in Malaysia .

anyone can share info

Samsung TU8500 vs Samsung RU 7400 vs LG UM7600?

currently TU8500 having launch promotion in SH/SenQ

is it worth to get it for ps4 pro gaming?
*
TU8500 is something like the successor of Samsung 7400 series , it belongs to one of the budget series from Samsung .

And just like its predessor , it has WCG and is better for viewing HDR movies .

If you are getting one for PS4 Pro , probably buy the TU8500 OR 7400s over UM 7600 .

Just bought sony 8000h from sony centre.. 49 inch around rm3000. But i also saw samsung tu8500 sold at around 2799 at senheng.. but bought sony anyway as it is a ready stock item..
*
Not very big difference between the two really . They have similiar peak brightness , supports WCG but not good enough to get a native 10 bit and a 120hz screen panel .

The 8000 series from Sony are mostly filler models to fit the gap between the 7000 and 9000 / 9500 .

for 55'', is 2020 model sony x80h better than samsung qled Q60t?

if for higher up 1 more tier, samsung Q80T is compared to sony x90h right? or x95h

is the x90h or x95h actually coming? macam few months still coming soon
*
Q60T is something like a RU7400 , so there is not a lot of difference beside the usual VA / IPS screen pros & cons .

As for the TV tiers , it probably go like Q80T = X90H <= X95H .

Although , a simple test on benchmark reveal the Sony's X90H is using a newer CPU (refer to the spreadsheet from last page) and scored higher than X95H ... which is unusual because the X95H is quite a bit more expensive .

The X90H is also equipped with HDMI 2.1 ports while the X95H is not . So the X90H is probably the better future proof option if you don't need the x-wide viewing angles .

In terms of PQ , the X95H can reach about 1300 nits and the X90H we tested from Sony China can reach about 850 nits , not too big of a deal since they are both FALD TV like Samsung's Q80T and Q95T .

I don't know when is Sony planning to release their new TV since their schedule was affected by the MCO . But a little bird told me soon as they have recently updated their new 2020 TV catalog (again) on their website .

Hi there,
Which one you recommend? Help please!

Samsung 65" TU8500 Smart 4K UHD TV
Sony 65X8500G 4K Ultra HDR Android LED TV 65inch
Sony 65X9500G 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV 65inch

And why! Thanks:)
*
The X9500G is the much better TV . But the 65" version is not available in Malaysia .

last week, i was searching a little bit about these few

I read that sony x80 n samsung q60 are bad buy

q80t is a solid head-to-head against x95, but x95 lacks features, like hdmi 2.1

x90 although uses better chip than x95, its performance actually isnt better...

q80t seems to be better buy, unless x95 price is more attractive
some sources as below:

*
X95H is not available in typical sizes in MY .

So if you want to buy it , only the 85 " version is for sale here .
85 " is a gigantic TV so make sure you have prepare a large space for it .

Sony's X95H is supposed to compete with Samsung's Q95T , in which the Q95T pull ahead in almost everything , which I personally dubbed the best 2020 LCD TV in MY .

Best of all we also get a more affordable 55 " version for the first time in Samsung Flagship series .

After that we also have the Q80T and X90H , both of which are FALD TV as well . I am slightly leaning towards the X90H .
I have yet to know the official price tag of X90H but I was told it will be similar to the Sony's X85 last year .

The mid-range Q60 is definitely not a good buy because we will have many new FALD TVs coming out this year .

We are kind of in that " play safe or go big " era now .
Either you save more and just grab one of those RU7400 , SM7600 or even Panasonic 's GX800 and be done with it .

Or spend more on the premium models .

The mid-range like the TU8500 or Q60 series or the X800 series is pointless with many features removed , doesn't live up to the price tag it is asking for .

ya sony did improve for this year line-up of led tv, but blooming issue on x950h still seem quite noticable

need to see sony malaysia actually brings in x950h and x900h or not, n their prices against samsung
*
The blooming is due to the X-WIDE-angle optical filter .

Traditionally , the main weakness of VA TV is the off-axis performance .
X950 series fixes this by applying an optical filter which reduce dispersion of the light , at the cost of sacrificing contrast numbers.
Apparently the Samsung Q95T can do this better by not having to significantly reduce contrast ratio .

If you must get the best LCD TV , get Q95T .

I dare say the Samsung Q95T is currently the best HDR experience MY has ever seen .
Find yourself a demo TV from best denki , ask them to run a couple of HDR clips for you .
Some of my favorite ones are from Guardian of Galaxy 2 & Valerian City of Thousands Planet .

Massive amount of color volume , coupled with a very sophisticated blooming suppression that rival even the legendary Sony Z9D .
You just cannot buy the same level of HDR impact anywhere else .

Considering the fact that the Q95T ( 65" ) is a MUCH brighter than even the Z9D and able to consistently maintain over 2000 nits of peak brightness , that is big compliment .

Perhaps Samsung has finally realized it is not the number of zones that makes the difference but the algorithm .

Plus they are adhering to the standard of PQ more accurately compare to last year , still not perfect but definitely a great start towards the right direction .
All of that , with an addition of the best screen coating in business , it helps to increase the perceived contrast in a room with ambient lights .

The only problem is there is a slight issues with uneven black levels in gaming mode but that is not a dealbreaker as this isn't visible in other viewing modes .

B9 65 is so dim
B9 55 is decent enough

*
I don't think so .

From my experience , the larger sizes tend to be slightly brighter thanks the bigger power allocation budget .

But we are talking about 3-5% here , I doubt you will notice it with naked eyes .

Again remember these are the result of mass production , there are going to be unit to unit variance .

QUOTE(szecheng @ Aug 13 2020, 06:01 PM)
I would suggest you stay away from that particular channel .

His previous channels have been permanently banned 3 times for spreading rumors , insulting other TV reviewers and impersonating as Samsung official in the past few years .
This is his 4th time (or 5th ? ) , we shall see how long it will last .

maybe this can do the sample.. or watch some videos from sony official promo clips for simple illustration purposes..
*
You said it yourself , " promo " clips .

Can you really trust everything from the promotional material ? I really doubt that .

So that still leave my question on the air , what is " HDR remaster " ?
You have been flaunting that term around , I was simply curious about if people know the meaning behind these promo - terminology .

Regardless I am going to tell you what it is , it is the same dynamic tone mapping function found in Samsung and LG 's TVs as well .
Just because they have coined a whole different new name for it , doesn't mean it is something new .
And it definitely isn't exclusive to Sony .

Obviously they r going to pick a new name for it , because it sounded more exciting to the buyers .

Although I must admit Sony is a whole lot more generous with their entry level TVs this year , from supporting Dolby Vision and WCG .

Saw few sellers in shopee selling samsung tu8000 50"  and sony bravia for rm500, somemore buy 2 get 1 free. These sellers got no rating. Any chance tv also got clone like handphone?
*
Obviously not , because they are new accounts created by the scammers after their last scheme has succeeded [ and gotten reported ] .

It is almost always the same few tactics .

First they put up an item with an illogically low pricetag , with a random picture that convince you they got the said item .

You message them for the said product , they will ask you to whatsapp / wechat / facebook them and want you to " BANK IN " to their personal bank account with excuses like their grandpa couldn't breath , their toilet bowl has malfunction , all sort of innovative reason . After you did , they will block you on social media instantly .

Or , there is the second type of scam .

Instead of asking you to bank-in , they threaten you to click " product received " before they will ever send you the product . And if you do before receiving the product , it is too late .
The button is there for online platform to ensure you , as a customer to receive what you have purchased .

If you are met with such situation , do not fear . Just screenshot the chatlog , send it to shopee customer service and get the merchant banned .
Or just cancel the order and you will be refunded so these morons wouldn't get a single cent .

Movies mastered on 24 fps are shown on 60Hz/120Hz TVs by showing the frame longer than a second. For 120Hz TVs, this is five times longer.

*
No frame will ever last a full second on any TV , jeez .
If it does , the whole screen would have been frozen .

Even if it does , that is a whole new issue called stutter , not Judders .

Clearly you have no idea how telecine works , if at all .

The nature of LCD which is based on hold and display , will always resolve everything within that one second , even if it has to end up skipping frames in between .

When it comes to motion we are talking about milliseconds here , which is 1/1000 of a second.

Someone watched a few FOMO videos and is now the GURU of the TV forum unsure.gif

Assuming they are of same sizes , it is worth it .

Dozen of benefits , just the FALD alone is worth paying extra .

Not to mention a native 10 bit , 120hz screen .
