i was driving this afternoon and rains pour heavily... my hp inside my pant's pocket..

after 1 hour i reached home, the screen getting getting foggy abit... my keypad (1,4,7) is not fuctioning.. i already take out the battery and let it dry...

should i wait 3 days to completely dry and try or should i should send to nokia service centre tomorrow morning? My hp is still under warranty by Sapura/Zitron.

i don't wanna lose my precious nokia... just bought 2 month ago.. cry.gif cry.gif

warranty is void by water damage...

so good luck convincing the nokia care centre there...

there is a piece of paper inside the phone which changes colour if it comes in contact with a good amount of liquid, which is how phone shop knows if ure lying about water damage...

Happen to me before.. Few years back when I just bought my NK7610.

I suggest you guys to dry it with hair dryer.. Let it blown for 1 hour(min).
With cold air not hot air..

NOTE = Hot air will damage your circuit and LCD!

Added on March 24, 2009, 5:52 pmThere is no such thing as water resistant circuit.. =x

hot air wont damage the circuit, but it might damage the LCD...

the circuit board can withstand pretty high temperatures, so if u wanna dry the phone, best is to dismantle and use hairdryer, with the LCD removed...

refrigerator useless...

the condition inside the refrigerator is damp, and water will still be there...

its better to put in hot air as water evaporates faster in hot air, but air con on the other hand shud be OK since the air blown out of the air con have a pretty low humidity levels...

Hi peeps! I know this is a very very old thread but I feel this thread is really useful as most of us, intentionally or unintentionally wet our mobile phone. And now with smartphones which are way more vulnerable to humidity/water than the classic nokia handphones, we need this piece of info even more.

Something new on solution for a wet mobile phone:
My friend studying in the States actually introduced some dry-your-phone kit to me once when I dropped my S3 in the toilet (not into the toilet bowl though, phew!), just onto the super wet, almost flooded bathroom floor. But I couldn't find it anywhere in Malaysia and waiting for it to arrive from US is just not practical. Luckily my S3 survived the swim but I keep on wondering if there's such dry-your-phone kit available. Just in case, you never know when your phone decides to take another swim in the water.

Anyway I forgot what is the brand of the kit that my friend introduced to me but these are some of the images that I can find online.
