The same dilemma I have faced last time.tongue.gif

I still choose UA65MU7000 because:

1) at that time UA65MU7000 only RM5,688, 65 inch 8500E cheapest I can find is RM7,100.
2) the original setting before collaboration for MU7000 already very good.  Not everyone will hire professional collaborator.
3) Although HDR in MU7000 lousy but 8500E is also so so only.  After all, both is Edge-lit, what to expect.
4) In Rtings review, MU7000 is slightly better in Movie and game, which I primary use it for movie only.  In near future, maybe gaming too.
5) Input lag for MU7000 is almost only half if compared to 8500E.

These factors forced me to choose MU7000 over 8500E. tongue.gif

Those 2 tvs are at the same level. Should buy the one that is cheaper. MU7000 is slightly better than X8500E in HDR but the colour gamut is less than the Sony. Also, Samsung's Tizen is much more responsive and intuitive compared to Android TV. You made a good choice smile.gif

NU7xxx is roughly identical in terms of spec with MU6xxx. I dont think there is a NU6xxx anymore since this year I think Samsung is syncing their Model numbering across the globe.

ok,cos i saw MU6XXX selling quite cheap @ SenQ,maybe old stock clearence but dint see any NU7 series display ...

LOL.

Already installed it since Day 1 of release.

It's a legit release.

Game Mode HDR Profile switching is working.

HDR Performance has been improved on my set (KS7000), brighter highlights seems can hit higher nits compared to previously.

Overall it's a good update.

HDR10Plus (dynamic open source HDR) probably still missing, but the problem with the format is even Amazon Prime can't really tell which video supports HDR10+, so this technology seems to be a mixed bag for now until they sort out that mess.

I heard HLG is still broken with some box over in the west (HLG is Hybrid something something), it is supposed to be HDR standard for broadcaast TV.

Not sure if my eyes are playing tricks haha. Looks brighter after updating

Maybe because of the auto-switch, where last time u need to manually adjust back-light to 20

EDIT
Seems like they used default values for the HDR Game Mode. No wonder picture looks extremely sharp and colour tone is brighter

Samsung so generous this time around? Maybe learning from their 2017 mistake.

Or now because MYR stronger and GST 0% liao, they can price it lower...

I calibrated a 55Q7F for a friend in the last 2 days and I've been fairly impressed with the TV.

Pretty good black levels for an LCD, hitting over 5500:1. SDR and HDR peak brightness and average are consistently over 2000cd/m2 inside a 10% window, averaging around the 800 nits mark if sustained overtime. It does have some shortfalls with its useless local dimming algorithm though due to the edge lit LEDs with no guiding plates.

I like the fact that after calibration the TV covers 99% of the DCI-P3 color space - that's pretty much as good as it gets, which is even better than OLEDs. The REC2020 scale also hits a very respectable 75% and 83%, which is best in class for an LCD at this price range. Kudos to Samsung for focusing on color accuracy and volume!

As an everyday TV that people would use for TV, movies and gaming - well, gaming; this is arguably the BEST TV for gaming in the RM8k bracket. Input lag measured 15ms at 4k60hz @ 4:4:4 and enabling HDR only brings that up to 19ms. This is good enough even for offline local fighting games competition. There was a new update with Freesync support and I only tested it with a HTPC (no Xbox One X), suffice to say it works as it should and I'm still baffled by why Freesync isn't mandatory on all displays yet. I hope when the next-gen consoles arrives in a few years, Freesync will be a mainstream feature on all TVs.

Personally, I think this is the best 2018 RM8k-ish TV in the Malaysia market currently (since Sony went full retarded last minute in not bringing in their 55" X90f). Unless you can get an LG C8 OLED for under RM9k, there really is no better alternative than the Q7F at the moment.

Now on another note, Samsung... just why did you even bother bringing in the Q8C when no one even buys curved TVs? The Q8FN could have been the RM10k sweet spot for everyone.... you missed the ball Samsung.

The Q8FN is carrying their almighty new FALD , which is not doubt very impressive from what I have seen . There's no way they are willing to sell that TV under 10k here lol , it is Samsung afterall.

The sad thing about Q7FN the local dimming still really sucks . The price is really good from the promotion few days ago since they give you a free monitor / soundbar of choice , you can easily sell off the monitor for 2k ++ , so the cost of TV should be left at around RM6k

offtopic : BTW I have seen an offer from TBC for 55'C8 under 10k , it varies from shop to shop , if you manage to sweet talk the shop keeper into discounts , he might give a good offer

Just to be sure , we are talking about the Q7FN not the Q7 from last year right ? Cause the Samsung guy was telling me Q7FN will only be delivered by the end of month

Went to see Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom on the brand spanking new Samsung Onyx Cinema Led. Not discussing the movie plot here but rather the experience with the Samsung Onyx cinema itself.

Video:
-screen size:
Not that big. If you want to watch in this cinema, i suggests not to seat in the midlle, go 2-3 level form the screen. Btw the seat are very comfy. Not the typical cinema seat.
-Sharpness :
The texts/subtitles are ultra sharp. the movie also ultra sharp.
-HDR:
I read it some where that this scren are HDR but I can't see much of it.is either the screen itself or the movie itself. I belived it is both are not much HDR.
-Peak Brightness level:
Not that bright. It doesnt gave me the glaring effect I got from my Sony X930e tv
-contrast level:
OK la
-black level:
Superb as each pixel can be turn of completely
-pixel density:
Sorry I didn't have the opportunity to shot it, but I do go to the screen closely viewed it. Damm it ways very dens. I'd say buot 2x2mm with gabs by 1mm in between the pixels.

Audio:
The Harmon tune speakers are great but It lack the sound form above form the like of Dolby ATMOS

Overall
I would like to see a bigger screen and ATMOS support. Also higher peak brightnes

So it' a bit of a letdown I guess. The screen size only slightly above 10m, from the pic the width looks about 12 seats wide. Maybe they reduced the brightness due to pitch black condition , some people's eyes might be too sensitive if too bright.
