Yeah that seems to be the trick, tier 2 tech. Hell of a lot of micro to fend off the assault tho. Necron can almost go to sleep.

Ok did the tier 2 tech rush. It seems that the computer AI fubars up tho if I push them too hard? You can see them pathing aimlessly.

they is tricks to kill-em. First are snare traps.. place em everywhere to impend their advances. Early game use your TC flamer, Once a squad morale is drain, its doesnt matter's it has 8 dudes firing you, and Last is your FW placement.

FW should be place in a peel formation so that 1 FW can cover another FW that way it can take out NW wave while keeping your men at save distance.
Your largest threath is solar pulse.. this can practically destroy your barrage.

Yeah I know about snares and flamers, but that doesn't change my point. In comparison to the amount of micro a Tau has to do, the Nec can just about go to sleep. There's no extra effort from the Nec, they just do whatever they normally do. Of course Tau is the most micro intensive race now, there's tons of micro to do against any other race. But against these other races they have to adapt. Necs can just casually counter just about anything with little difficulty.

And yeah I know I gotta defeat it on insane mode first. But you gotta ramp up slowly. No point trying to beat national team when you can't even get a point against state.

Necron is the worst matchup for Tau. Throughout the experience I had during the off world mission, massing fw + snare trap + TC seems the only way Tau has against Necron. But you have to beware of NL solar + wraiths, thus positioning your fw is the key here. Dont stick them around as fw movement speed is wicked slow, so spam snare trap and do aggro capping and camping.

Tau is not the most micro intensive race yet, eldar is. And yes, necron is the micro least race but when it comes to higher level play, planning and time management is very important for necron, one wrong step can simply leads you to doom. And that "step" inclusive of capping order and BO. And necron has hard time against some races as well, and they are map dependant as well.

Bryan,which ai are you using?Is the the stock ai?

I recommend you to get the AI mod to practice.They are much better than Relic's ai if you want to train offline for now.

I know how to port forward and i have tried almost everything i can do.Maxis is blocking all the NAT ports.I only can join games at the lobby.

I have even switch off my firewall and use DMZ mode on my router,i still fail the java test.

I can play in GS but i can only join games.I cant host at all.

U are talking about how to defeat a hard necron computer?? Computer Hard always start with higher resources than human player. No point we are discussing how to defeat a cheater computer and emotionless machine. if u want to talk about proper strategy, get to play it online/hamachi with us. then u post up the replays and we will discuss.

You talk like Tau is the most micro intensive race. Have you play Eldar yet? You still not yet see how Tau is destructive against other race. Basically, the most micro intensive units in Tau are Vespid and Tau commander. No other. I dont have DOW installed on my PC, otherwise we can do reverse engineer where u play as Necron vs my Tau.

Port forward doesnt help if he is using Maxis HSPDA broadband. Maxis blocked most of the ports and limited to 3GB data traffic with an unacceptable reason.

Eldar's still the most micro across the board, I agree. But it seems like Eldar have more counters against the Necrons in early game. What's NL solar by the way? What does it do?

What races do Necrons have a hard time against? I don't really see how that's possible considering the strength of it's hero, plus it's basic units have both formidable ranged and melee. But do please enlighten me, I'm learning!

First of all, I applaud you for really being interested in Tau and wanting to be good at it but here's a piece of advice, play necrons and see how it is to face other races as them.....Crons has one of the most disturbing styles of fighting......they need their staying power in battle to ever face any of the other races.....when u fight crons its a race to be stronger than them and then take the fight to them......not trying to kill that magnificent Lord at the first few seconds of the game......you aint no Ork........I still believe that crons are quite difficult to play with an enemy that really knows his race........take pointers from our Necron Lords here or even have a game or two with them to really understand how crons are played in the hands of the race's most devout followers.....

I would like that....cause it also gives exposure to the other orders (modding community) in the DOW universe......
