The non-SE was SM/SN then for general market .

However, this has been officially 'upgraded' and marketed as SN plus claiming Dexos D1G2 in the last two years or so.

IMHO , the latest Syntium 3000 5W30 SN plus data sheet leads me to believe it is a very solid and high quality ois vs typical SN oils like SE whoes data is limited online .

You need a 70/80 gm A4 printing paper or a coffee filter to deposit hot engine oil from dipstick after say , more than 20 minutes of driving .

Shell (International) does offer such a Shell Helix Ultra 5W30 that carries A3B4 and MB 229.5 approval .

This is a good oil for Asian cars imo.

Bro, mind sharing what are the car brand/models recommending 0W16 by local assemblers/OEMs that you're aware of ?

I think this mechanic should be rightly appointed by Shell/Petronas marketing as oil consultant driving self-expense paid Continental V8 or V12s around towns assisting in enforcement/identifying so-called fake oils advertised online for sale or sold in Hypermarkets.

Yes, if the 5W30 carries MB 229.5 OEM approval.
No, if it doesn't.

Having said this, I know for a fact the SHU 5W40 from Giant stores carries MB 229.5 OEM approval and their pricing is very very friendly, forget about what Shell Malaysia marketing says.
It is suitable for any MB that requires MB 229.5 OEM approval , viscosity does not matter is this regard.

Shell Helix HX8 5W30 SN+ (or Malaysian version marketed as HX8 X 5W30 SN+) available in Giant USJ1 has
MB 229.5 approval at quite a discount from Shell station version even during non-promotional period.

Of course, Helix Ultra 5W40 at lower price carrying MB 229.5 approval has been available in Giants for a long long time as you understood it.

None of AeonBig Subang Jaya stock carries MB 229.5 approval.

Yes, HX8 SL version does not carry MB 229.5 approval.

Note: IIRC, one can't get MB 229.5 approved oil from Tescos Puchong.

I've no doubt HX8 or SHU, seal or no seal from Giant aren't fake, and works well imho.

Besides, it is really value for money for a 'top' oil.

The online seller is not a friend of mine and hence I've no personal interest to help/protect him, I concur with his statement above as it is indeed valid as both their blending plants are NOT the same one at the same location.

I'm guessing the online is euro (legal) parallel imports, otherwise the seller would kena sued left, right and centre by none other than local Petronas marketing division.

If vanli sold fake Petronas engine oil online from KL, not only the GM Petronas in charge will lose his 'prestigious' job, I'm afraid the CEO marketing would lose his job as well if ignoring prevailing advice from downline.

Heck, a GM (or director in charge) of a sdn bhd would have lost his job as well.... unless Board of Directos give specific written black and white statement allowing what's happening to go on, unpunished.

Board of Directors also have a boss in shareholders to report to.

Note: Do one notice colours of a specific engine oil 'model' from a specific blending plant (say, Petornas malacca/Paka) differs ......... from different batches or production dates???
