I would go metrofon first because it's 66 ringgit for 2 mb unthrottled.

Streamyx 4 mb throttled and cost 198 ringgit. and in a month any newer subscribers will be charged 267 ringgit .......

metrofon in terms of price/performance is much superior.

The sad fact is, it has very low coverage for residential area.... mostly condominiums sleep.gif;;;;

The government should recognise the last mile dillema and offer some incentive to wire up the last mil with fiber optic.

Whats the point of bragging we got alot of fiber all over when it isn't connected last mile and it's hardly even used ? Kinda waste of $ if they don't go all the way sleep.gif;

Just a quick info :

1. Like one forumer said here, it is based on IP DSLAM, not connected to the same broadband server, one of the reason there is 2 outage recently in Klang Valley, they have to shutdown certain DSLAM in order to migrate it.

2. WIMAX ?? Hehe, i got a friend working at wimax provider ( prefer not to say the name ) as their core ip engineer, dont expect everything is unlimited, like other companies, they also want to keep their network stable, yes confirmed from him, once the amount of customers grow, they will do the same as tmnet, throttling.

3. Maxis is only 3Gb, bare in mind.

4. 3km limitation to keep everything in control, otherwise you will get high line attenuation, unstable SNR.

i think most of the RM88 package has been upgraded to at least 1.5mb few months ago. currently i am paying RM88 per month and my connection speed is 2048/512. i am able to download at max 200 over kbps (not BT) but of course after they throttled BT, my max speed is around 30 over kbps sad.gif
*
may i know where are you from?
I am RM88 package user but I can't hit 2048..I am 1.5mbps here only but of course when i do bandwidth test i can't get 1.5mbps la..only 1.1~ 1.2mbps here..

All in all, dun upgrade lah, since it's useless, what's the point of having a fast connection if you cannot it use it, just like having a ferari on a kampung road.

what do you mean offer as internet platform like streamyx ???

as far as i know, MCMC does not approve WIMAX to be used to create another service provider for internet connection, meaning there will never be any offering of streamyx like service which will utilize WIMAX... anyway off topic already..

Wow. If RM66, 2mbps and most important of all, unthrottled, that will make Metrofon the winner of all ISP hands down even if TmNet gives 4mbps @ RM66.

Even 40mbps RM66 by tmnet also i'd rather go for Rm66 2mbps unthrottle, seriously. icon_rolleyes.gif

Wasn't there some issue a while back with the governing delaying implementation of local loop unbundling (or in the case of streamyx unbungling) that would have allowed easier access to competitors?

In any case, hopefully some early adopters can come forward with some 4mb latency results before I ultimately give in to the black mailing.

Can you clarify on that? I still don't get what you mean?

Isn't the whole point of getting WIMAX is to have wireless internet connection or am I wrong?

this is a rumor i head from a friend of a friend who works at tmnut. he says the new 4Mb package will be THROTTLED since the connections are using the same DSLAMS with all the throttle hardware installed. If this is true, then the new 4Mb connection will be throttled the same like all of our existing connections. So no point in wasting more money to get a faster but throttled connection.
