QUOTE(JinXXX @ May 18 2007, 05:02 PM) as far as i know, MCMC does not approve WIMAX to be used to create another service provider for internet connection, meaning there will never be any offering of streamyx like service which will utilize WIMAX... anyway off topic already.. |

QUOTE(Xybirium @ May 19 2007, 02:45 PM) Can you clarify on that? I still don't get what you mean? err ..how to say this aa... yes it is a wireless connection, but for service like hotspot and such.. not you can subscribe and used it at home... well, i heard la.. not sure really.. but the speed and coverage is much2 better than current standard.. (up to 70km if not mistaken0Isn't the whole point of getting WIMAX is to have wireless internet connection or am I wrong? Added on May 20, 2007, 12:23 am QUOTE(fyire @ May 19 2007, 11:50 PM) only few very big companies in Malaysia currently using it... it is for their own backbone... even them does not subscribe to the maxThis post has been edited by abechik: May 20 2007, 12:23 AM |

QUOTE(Xybirium @ May 20 2007, 10:24 AM) Oh... okay. I get what you mean. Hopefully it is not like that when the time comes and we consumers can at least have a choice even if it is running on TM backbone. yes me too would like to have that option.. but as for time being... license is awarded ... but TM and other major player not getting it... heh heh.. with those company whose name is almost nobody in the industry... it will be very looooong time before it will be really kick off throughout the country... kroni's win again.. as usualFor us in Kuching, Streamyx is currently our only choice. My connection has been very, very unstable since beginning of May. This post has been edited by abechik: May 20 2007, 04:57 PM |

i dont think TMNET has any power in not letting competitor come in... it just that competitor can't afford to come in... so for now they are the king until somebody can challenge...
.. and port vs bandwidth is 2 different things.. |

QUOTE(JinXXX @ May 25 2007, 12:59 PM) are you sure ? according to a RUMOUR last time.. vodaphone wanted to buy over telekom malaysia, but goverment intervene to prevent them. same goes with digi/telenor.. they have money for wimax/3g project but government as usual wanted to protect so called "bumi" company ... blame on the government then... in my oppinion, it is very risky to let others (foreigner) control our telecommunication service provider which services carry national security data ... see what happen to our neighbour recently.. even their government don't like that kind of things... FTTH only medium.. service won't change... This post has been edited by abechik: May 25 2007, 02:40 PM |

i think it should depends on you usage... if surfing only .. no need la... waste your money..
if for other bandwidth hogging application (torrent excluded). then go ahead la fren.. if torrent.. i think the throttling is here to stay.. and to Priss... i don't quite get what is there to argue with the 17 Jan dateline... it's called PROMOTIONIONAL PERIOD ... what's that has anything to do with bandwidth?? and how do you know they don't have enough bandwidth?? |
