Mhmm... Those are predesigned UI templates from those STB software providers, so pay TV providers can just select which UI they want, then change a little according to what they want.

I don't think Astro purposely design every single thing from scratch also...
Even for Ultra Box one, certain UI elements of the design is a little similar to Android TV. And the font also... It uses Roboto font 😂
*
So astro doesnt design the UI? Thats why Aora DTH in Indonesia also have the same UI with astro old UI

Well... From what I see is, Astro Prima, Oasis and AEC is being simulcast to both SD and HD. So since Astro has the choice to provide SD to Njoi viewers, so they offer only in SD for Njoi.

However, because Astro Vaanavil will become a HD-only channel from 1 June onwards, hence SD quality is not even an option, so Astro has no choice but to just offer Astro Vaanavil HD to everyone.

Why like that? In business perspective, you just got to show on how you treat customers between those who pays vs who don't.
Since Astro customers are paying monthly, so yea, HD is available to you, as a choice.

Meanwhile Njoi customers isn't committed to pay monthly, even with Njoi prepaid, that doesn't "guarantee their income" cuz you can subscribe and cancel it anytime you want.

You want Ria, Prima, Oasis in HD? Can. Upgrade to Astro  biggrin.gif
If Ria, Prima, Oasis and others, are offered in HD on Njoi platform, regardless if it's free or prepaid channels, would that still convinces you to upgrade to Astro?  tongue.gif

So, what to expect from a free stuff anyway? It's just another day in pay TV business.
*
Now I understand. But why astro dont simulcast the channel in SD too like before? Is it because astro want to save the bandwith?

Hmmm... Basically means, Astro now able to decide to let you watch the channel in HD or SD, with the same channel number.

For example, if their system detects that you're using HD-enabled box, so when you tune to ch201, your Astro box will receive the HD version of Astro Vaanavil.

However if you're using the legacy Astro box, and you tune to ch201, you'll receive the SD version of Astro Vaanavil.

Technically how it work, you ask?
You see, when a same channel is simulcast in both SD and HD, it means on the satellite, it shows 2 separate TV channels being transmitted from different transponder frequency.
So in layman words, from Astro's side, they can send a "channel list bouquet" to your Astro box, to tell your Astro box that whenever the user (which is you) tune to ch201, the Astro box is "instructed" to go receive THIS channel at THIS particular transponder frequency at THESE technical parameters (e.g. SID, VPID, APID tracks and so on). From there, they can decide whether to let you receive the HD version or SD version already.

And hmm, from what I see, there is a possibility that Njoi viewers might be continue getting the SD version of Astro Vaanavil instead of getting the HD version... I mean, Astro can make it that way if they want to, since the "channel list bouquet" for Astro and Njoi are so different. But will that happen or not, we shall see it in action on 1 June onwards for Njoi users.
*
If that way can happen, so astro can simulcast on HD and SD channel in one number? For example AXN HD and SD both on channel 701?

It's official now, 30 minutes later. Even the word Vaanavil itself is now romanized, instead of keep the Tamil typewriting.

Wait little longer.. techies doing their job upgrading batch by batch...

Me also like that error previously around 12.30
Now can watch already 👍

Anyway..
Expect backlash from Indian..
The writing in logo already changed to English wording 😑

The Telegu and Malayalam language movie is shifted to midnight at 12 am and 3am. Meanwhile I dont see any Telegu and Malayalam language serial in Vaanavil anymore. In the info I only see Malaysian program only mostly

Oh? I thought they gonna upgrade it on 6.00am later instead? Cuz previously I see the EPG for Vaanavil on Astro Go, it stop at 6am  Well, I'm wrong anyway...  biggrin.gif
Quite surprising to see that the channel logo is now romanised to VAANAVIL instead of retaining the Tamil script.
I do wonder if it's just temporary or permanent...
*
The ad also used the romanised vaanavil word.. so I think its permanent

Rajini70 channel is on transponder frequency 10932MHz (Measat 3b satellite), and that transponder is under DVB-S2, where legacy Astro box only supports the older DVB-S standard and does not recognise the newer DVB-S2 standard.
So definitely this SCNA message will appear. I think the person-in-charge mistakenly included that channel on legacy boxes, or somehow forgot to remove it.

Since you're still using legacy Astro box, so I think you're able to watch Astro Vaanavil, right? If can, take picture see  biggrin.gif

---
Also, since you're using legacy Astro box, could you check if these channels are part of your channel list, and able to watch or not:

112 - Astro Rania
113 - Astro Aura
235 - Zee Tamil
310 - TVB Jade

Also, could you confirm that these are the only few Astro First & Astro Best channels available on legacy Astro boxes:
470-473 Astro First
488-492 Astro Best

If yes, try go to CH480 / 481 and browse for movies to rent, the movie selection shown isn't as much as what appears on the HD-enabled boxes, right?
*
Really sorry. Im not using the legacy box... im on PVR box... the legacy box is my neighrbour one.. I will check it later about the channel

Ohh it's okay... Cuz it's kinda hard to look for legacy Astro box users these days to share some happenings around it...
Your neighbour one (the one using legacy box), is it using Astro or Njoi account?

If it's Njoi account, then I wonder if the channel list is different compared to Astro's account? Or exactly the same?
*
Its njoi account and vaanavil can be watch... for rania and aura the channel is not available on legacy box... not sure about the astro first and best... will check it later

If Zee Thirai is introduced, then Astro might as well consider replace ABO Thangathirai altogether,
since I see lots of complaints that the channel are showing flop and repeating Tamil movies 🤣🤣🤣
*
I think astro shoild replace Vellithirai with Zee thirai. Because thangathirai showing new movies every month and the movie will be shown again on vellithirai and vinmeen... thangathirai will air 4 new movies every month and each movie will air every friday 9pm... so the 4 movie will be repeating for the whole month

Not available, as in that channel not even appear on the channel list, and if you press 112 or 113, it jumps to other nearest channel number?

Could you check if news channels like from ch516 till ch533, does those channel even appear on the channel list?
*
The both channel is not appear on the channel list.

I will check about the news channel tomorrow

But if u look in socmed..
There's actually some give suggestions to Astro to upgrade Ch 202 Vellithirai to HD like 201 Vaanavil 😋
*
IMO Zee thirai HD is the best substitute for Vellithirai... because zee thirai offer more movie then vellithirai... vellithirai will repeat each movie always... Many movies that dont show on Vellithirai is available on zee thirai

But if zee thirai is not available on astro, It better if astro upgrade vellithirai to HD and it will make everyone happy
