Thanks joshhd, that's explain alot. By the way, besides chinese favourite that is removed, I remember there is also a Malay favourite? Or maybe I remember wrongly? What happened to that?

QUOTE(doubleM2 @ May 15 2024, 07:26 PM)
You mean Indonesian Favourites?

Inside is Astro Rania (Ch 112) & Astro Aura (Ch 113). It’s still available as part of Asian Favourites (also incl. Viu Premium & Indian Favourites) if you’re on Entertainment Pack and above.

No Malay Favourites in existence as all flagship Malay channels (i.e. Mustika channels 107 & 108) are on entry-level Primary Pack.
*

Yes. There's no such thing as "Malay Favourites" since Astro introduced its new packs back in Nov 2021.
Since then and till today, all Malay general entertainment channels are already part of Primary Pack.

Only for those who interested in Indonesian content, may opt for Indonesian Favourites as their Asian Favourites selection (or as an standalone add-on).

Chinese Favourites is so far the only Asian Favourites that Astro discontinued it.

For Ultrabox, is there any way to make the menu operation/channel switching more responsive? By turning off any unwanted functions maybe?

Is the operating mode of your Ultra Box is currently under Plug & Play mode?
Meaning your Ultra Box is not connected to the satellite dish, and uses only Internet connection like WiFi?

All Astro Sports Pack customers will get complimentary access to EUFA Euro 2024 via two dedicated channels – SPOTV Stadia (CH808) and SPOTV2 Stadia (CH809).

If you’re an existing Astro customer without a Sports Pack, you can subscribe to the Sports add-on for RM42.99 per month via the My Astro app or visit the Astro website.

So sport special (aka Liga pack) not entitled for EUFA Euro 2024 access?

QUOTE(coolguy_0925 @ May 16 2024, 08:23 PM)
The article in soyacincau.com did not mention about that, only stated complimentary for Sports Pack
*

pokemon If I'd say Sports Special (aka Liga Malaysia add-on) subscribers will also be getting complementary access to SPOTV Stadia (CH808) and SPOTV2 Stadia (CH809) channels, would that make you feel jealous?

Eventually I registered a new account/package for my family under Entertainment Package,
while my sister's existing account kasih terminated and ask for balance refund to resolve all these, haha.

my sister got call to CS to terminate and the person attend got ask the reason why terminate but somehow the person did not offer the on-going promo package, too bad.
I myself subscribed the Sooka VIP app and I can watch Astro AOD with others chinese channels + Sport channels, worth la.. haha.
Thanks for your valuable reply  notworthy.gif

Here comes the important point: What did your sister say when that agent asks why she wants to terminate the account? Did she say she intend to sign up as new account or something?
If yes, then of course la they won't propose any retention offer to her. sweat.gif

It is not good if you are already paying a premium for Chinese, which most of us are unless you just registered/switched to lower-tier plans.
I'm on Platinum now and will downgrade once my contract ends in a couple of months.
*

For them, it is "good" that you don't know the fact that Astro have moved all Chinese channels to the base pack. You'll just pay your Platinum Pack as-is. Life goes on as usual.

However, it'll be "not good" once you (the customer) know that Astro have moved all Chinese channels to the base pack, because you'll think of ways to downgrade packs that results in lower monthly fee, hence they're losing revenue from customers like you.

Thank DoubleM2 and joshhd.
I see, maybe my memory not good  laugh.gif
Didn't really keep track, just that last time when subscribe, I think there is like emperor or jade for chinese, then maybe 1 or 2 indian channel options, and also some mustika package to choose from for malay, oh... and there is also korea option as well
Haha... maybe is way way way back then. Anyway. thanks for explaining, maybe not relevant anymore now.

So basically most Malay and Chinese channesl are bundled and pack as basic. That's good actually.
*

That sounds like legacy pack era. That has become the past, not entirely relevant anymore, but customers who are still subscribed to those discontinued, ancient legacy packs/addon like Dynasty, and those Plus Packages like New Emperor, Gold, Mustika, or even Celestial Movies a-la-carte RM15.00, those customers are still paying it today as it is, even if the total amount are more expensive or cheaper when compare to the new Astro packs today.

Perhaps it appears they're generous to provide Sports channels to Liga Malaysia subscribers, but they are still not generous and proactive enough to auto migrate those customers who are still on those ancient legacy packs/addon, probably thinking that "since they've been paying for so long and never complain, so better don't touch them and let them continue pay" .

From what I heard of is :
Assthrow has less customers now with more are terminating its subscriptions.
They are finding ways to get more new customers with 2 years contracts for family pack and to give some sweets, they bundled it with ch 803 & 804.
But doing so, those existing liga pack customers will downgrade and resulting lesser revenue and therefore, they give better sweets to them for sport channels as not to impact the revenue negatively.
*

Yes you got it right. thumbsup.gif
What do you think of this? Do you think it is wise for them to do that?

Question here, does the conversion fee only required if we want to retain the same user name or email registered with Astro?
If let say I were to register with another person's details, then there is no need for this conversion fee?
*

Question here, does the conversion fee only required if we want to retain the same user name or email registered with Astro?
As long that particular Astro customer wants to convert to NJOI, then conversion fee applies, hence all account details will carry over to NJOI.
If you're using HD or PVR box, then you'll be continue using back the same box as-is when you convert to NJOI.
If you're using Ulti/Ultra Box, then sorry to say, you are not allowed to convert to NJOI. Therefore the only way left is to terminate the Astro account, and eventually return the Ulti/Ultra Box back to Astro.

You can still use your own name (as what you've registered for Astro) and sign up as new NJOI customer.
Which means, the same IC number of yours, has 1 Astro account & 1 NJOI account co-exist together in their system. That can be done actually...
The installation fee for new NJOI sign ups are:
  • RM344 without satellite dish (RM259 NJOI Box + RM85 installation fee) <Choosing this option means, the installer will connect back to your existing satellite dish or your condo/building's centralised antenna, whichever applicable>
  • RM399 with new satellite dish (RM314 NJOI box + RM85 installation fee)
Either of the 2 options, you will get a free 30 days access of NJOI Family Pack as a welcome gift.
More details: https://purchase.njoi.com.my/en-get-njoi

If let say I were to register with another person's details, then there is no need for this conversion fee?
Register with another's person details? Like, using your spouse or children's name to register NJOI? Then this is equivalent to new sign up already. sweat.gif

For those that already on the sport package, they cannot downgrade that easily due to contract back then and nobody know that their subscription will enable the full sport package.

Too bad for me, I cannot downgrade  console.gif
I need movies + netflix, my parents need Sports, the kids need Kids channel. So basically no other choice.

But that package is no longer available for subscription right.
Yes, they've stopped selling Liga Malaysia add-on. Whoever that subscribed to Liga Malaysia before they stop selling, are considered lucky, especially if they are interested to get access to all Sports channels.

This information isn't meant to be known by existing customers who already have Sports in their subscription, like you cdspins.
Cuz once this information is known, this will cause jealousy.

Therefore, Astro be like: "Please delete this information from your mind, and pretend that you never known this before." biggrin.gif

They just pray it will work but the chance is not good after all.
For every customer who is terminating with subscription fee more than RM100, they need to get 2 customers to offset the deficit.
To window-dressing the ARPU to fool the investors, Fiber is bundled.

The more desperate moves they are doing now like what KFC has offered like RM36 for 9pcs chicken parts, the more failure probability they are going to happen.
Smart investors will invest in a company that are having a good big picture on how to grow the company but assthrow is fire fighting now with no organic growth.
Pay tv in Spore is charging EURO2024 at a higher price and able to do that to generate more profit.
Assthrow cannot do that for its sport package customers and this will eventually impact negatively into its profitability.

Whether it is wise for them to do that?  It is not going to grow the business because the content quality is getting worse.
Assthrow share price will tell you whether it is wise to do it like if it increases to double or above RM1?
*

So you think that Astro should charge its customers for EURO 2024 at a higher price?
In your opinion, how can Astro get more organic growth then?

So what assthrow is thinking for not charging its customers for EURO 2024?
In your opinion, is assthrow is getting more organic growth?
Assthrow is still in the slumber not fixing the root causes why they are not getting organic growth.
Everyone works at assthrow is not thinking out of the box and doing more to piss off the customers.

You have great interest with assthrow and therefore you do have deep understanding why assthrow is failing now, don't you?
*

They have already been like that for decades, and I'm also immune to that already.

So instead of complaining, what is your idea to "fix the root causes" where the end result will be a balance of winning customer's hearts, plus improving Astro's organic growth and financials?

You should post your query to the assthrow board for getting big fat compensation to run this ailing organisation.
They cannot even be successful in overseas operations/investment and need to close shop.
Always blame the piracy instead of themselves.
As I mentioned earlier, the current share price is the good proof how it currently valued from the point of smart investors.
*

So basically you have no ideas to suggest on how to idea to "fix the root causes" where the end result will be a balance of winning customer's hearts, plus improving Astro's organic growth and financials, am I right?

My ultrabox is connected to both satellite dish and LAN.
Say if I want to change to 801. I would need to wait few 1-2 seconds after pressing "8" until it displays on the screen, after that 2nd and 3rd digit would be normal.
Selecting icon to icon on the GUI also abit laggy. Like very old android box.

Wish there's better spec of the ultrabox or maybe the astro software team can polish the GUI better.
*

Whenever you change a channel, do you see the pink loading icon appears?
Mind if I ask, when did you get your Ultra Box installed?
And, how did you request to upgrade to Ultra Box? Is it through WhatsApp, My Astro app, or call customer service, or how?

I realise certain shows that my parents recorded actually has an AOD version so there isn't even a need to record the show at all. I've checked it myself and it seems that when you select to record, it doesn't even prompt to tell you there is an AOD available. You will only know if you actively search for it lol.

Also, is there another place in the UI where they put the 'watchlist', I can only find it at 'Home' and have to scroll all the way down to see it, doesn't help that the UI is slow/laggy.

Simple quality of life stuff but maybe I missed something and it's not meant to be like that?

That is correct. The best practice is, use the Search feature to find the programme you want to watch to see if it's already available On Demand.
If not, then only you record.

Remember, Astro's cloud recordings are not unlimited.
Every account will have 200 cloud recording hours by default (unless you subscribe to Multiroom Smart TV or Astro GO+, which you'd get 1500 hours), and it will auto delete/expire after 1 year from recording date.

QUOTE(azrilyp @ May 23 2024, 03:29 PM)
with regards to Astro GO+, Astro mentioned that can watch up to 4 devices at a time (1 smart tv and 3 other devices). Is it possible to install the app to 2 smart TVs but only watch on 1 at a time? Example, I install 1 at my office and another one at my house in the living room? At home, I watch Astro in the bedroom using the Ultra box but at times I want to watch it in the living room.
*

Correction: "Astro GO+" itself does allow you to watch up to 4 concurrent streams, but that does not include Multiroom (Smart TV).

If you want to watch Astro using the Astro app that you install on your smart TV, then you'll need subscribe to Multiroom (Smart TV) at RM14.99 ("limited offer" price since last year?).
And once you subscribe to Multiroom (Smart TV), it will also comes with Astro GO+.

One Astro account only allow to subscribe to one Multiroom (Smart TV), where you can only login onto one TV at a time.

So let's say you've already logged in to your office's TV. Now you want to login to your house's TV. From there, you'll be prompted to remove your office's TV access first, then only you can login to your house's TV.
Hope that clarifies and able to manage your expectation.

If there is no cooling period, it maybe worth to subscribe to Multiroom. But if there is a cooling period, then it doesn't suit my needs at the moment. Maybe I'll try contacting their CS about this.

Alternatively I could login to Astro Go via a web browser on my Google TV. Lemme try that next week and see if it works.

Thanks for the reply.
*

I doubt it'll work on your Google TV. The usual Google Chrome app isn't available on your Google TV also.

Also, Astro GO only supports mainstream browsers like Edge, Chrome, Firefox & Safari. Other than that, it won't work.

Better you just connect HDMI cable from your laptop to the TV to watch Astro GO instead.
