TVBAnywhere+ service has 3 plan tiers, which are:
- VOD Zone
- Channel Zone
- Premium Services (VOD Zone & Channel Zone)

user posted image

VOD Zone means you can only watch VOD content only. Channel Zone means you can only watch 6 Live TV channels from TVB only (as of today).
Premium Services (VOD Zone & Channel Zone) means you will get both of it.

TVBAnywhere+ entitlement that you get from Astro's Dynasty / Chinese Favourites bundle all along, is the "Premium Services (VOD Zone & Channel Zone)" tier.

Meanwhile if you subscribe to Unifi TV's Ruby Plus Pack, the TVBAnywhere+ entitlement that you get from it, is VOD Zone only.
You can add-on TVBAnywhere+ Channel Zone for RM9.90/month, or RM15.90/month if you want the "Premium Services (VOD Zone & Channel Zone)" tier.

Otherwise, you can still subscribe to TVBAnywhere+ directly from https://www.tvbanywhere.com/ as a standalone subscription without relying on Astro or Unifi TV.

Astro's earnings fall to RM36.88mil in FY24
https://www.nst.com.my/business/corporate/2...-rm3688mil-fy24
QUOTE
KUALA LUMPUR: Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd's net profit plunged 85.8 per cent year-on-year to RM36.88 million in its financial year ended Jan 31, 2024 (FY24) from RM259.04 million in FY23, dragged by lower pre-tax earnings and higher net finance costs.

The higher net finance costs resulted from unfavourable unrealised forex loss arising from unhedged lease liabilities.

This was offset by lower impairment and amortisation of intangible assets, depreciation of property, plant and equipment and tax expenses.

Group revenue slipped 7.4 per cent to RM3.34 billion from RM3.62 billion the previous year due to lower subscription revenue, advertising revenue, sales of programming rights and rental income.

For the fourth quarter, the company's net profit dropped to RM44.38 million versus RM54.75 million in the same period the previous year. Revenue for the quarter under review slid to RM819.85 million from RM949.26 million a year ago.

Astro noted that its Ultra and Ulti Boxes installations grew 22 per cent YoY.

Revenue for its television segment dropped 7.9 per cent to RM3.16 billion from RM3.42 billion a year ago.

Radio's revenue for the current year was marginally lower by RM4.4 million or 2.3 per cent while gome-shopping's revenue for the current year reduced by RM89.7 million or 48.9 per cent to close at RM93.6 million compared with the corresponding year of RM183.3 million.

As at Jan 31 this year, the group had total assets of RM5.66 billion against RM5.7 billion as at Jan 31, 2023, a decrease of RM36.7 million or 0.6 per cent.

"Delivery of world-class content and services; accelerating growth in new businesses and transforming our legacy cost base to reflect the new realities of the Pay-TV landscape continues to be our key focus.

"Despite a rather turbulent economic landscape and the challenges of reinvention faced by PayTV operators globally, Astro remains resilient, implementing multiple initiatives that broaden our technology accessibility and convenience, as well as diversifying our business," said group chief executive officer Euan Smith.

The company said the current strength of the US dollar continues to impact multiple cost lines in its business, while local economic conditions (exacerbated by geopolitical factors) and softening customer sentiments (including the impact of the recent service tax revision) also present challenges to the industry.

"In softening the impact of these challenges, we have introduced more affordable entry points on both PayTV and sooka to drive affordability during the last quarter, further enhancing the value of our products and services.

"Notwithstanding all this activity, the group continues to maintain a cautious outlook, carefully monitoring business conditions and ensuring effective cost discipline," it said.

Sorry to say, but according to my "reliable" sources, as previously shared, existing customers that has either Chinese Favourites or Dynasty in their subscription, may lose their free access to TVBAnywhere+ starting 1 Apr 2024. Therefore you got to rely on Astro Go / On Demand / CH310 / CH311 to continue watching TVB shows from Astro moving forward.

I'd share it to u guys once I got a more solid info.

My existing contract will end around end October. I bundled the Platinum Pack with Netflix Premium to enjoy the rebates for 24 months. Will Astro continue giving discounts if we intend to downgrade our package? laugh.gif

I will downgrade if no discount is given and shift my Netflix to a standalone subscription.
*

By default, once your contract ends in October, your contract will auto renew and your existing RM25 monthly rebate (as you can see on your bill) will continue as it is.

But if you mean by "more discounts if you intend to downgrade", then I suggest you might as well call customer service and say you want to terminate (give good reasons like Astro is expensive or you have financial issues), then they'll propose some retention offers to you, which is in a form of additional monthly rebates or free channel/pack previews.

It is already a known practice (to me, at least) that Astro has been doing for decades anyway.

Oh, so the rebate will continue? Somehow I checked my bill there is RM 25 and RM 10 rebate. I cannot recall now, where is the RM 10 coming from. hmm.gif

If I downgrade my package later after Oct, will this also extend my contract? Like downgrade + another 24 months?
*

If you let the auto renew runs its course, then yes, your existing RM25 rebate for Platinum Pack will continue as is.
If you don't mind, maybe could you share a screenshot of that section of your bill here? About the RM10 rebate one...

Even if you would to downgrade (make sure to contact Astro within 30 days before contract end date), you still have to choose on which package you want to go to.
From there, you can choose whether you want 24/12/0 month contract.

Here you go.

Noted on the tips, if I don't extend the contract then no rebate. I guess that's how it works. laugh.gif
*

If let it auto renew / extend contract, then the RM25 rebate remains. Once that happens, that sentence in your bill would appear as (ending 27 Oct 2026) later on.

But the extra RM10 rebate one, I guess one is coming from previous retention offer that Astro previously offered you?
If yes, then of course, the RM10 rebate won't continue even after contract ends on Oct 2024.

Because legacy pack customer are not allowed to add Multiroom box anymore, unless you switch to the new Astro pack, which is what you did, from the old Super Pack to Platinum.

Not that I know of. There's no option for you to "select multiple programmes" and then delete them at one go.
Alternatively, if you find it challenging to do it on TV, you can do it on Astro Go platform too.

Major update on Astro's Chinese channel offerings starting 1 April 2024. Here's what you need to know:
  • As you guys already know, these channels ceased on 1 Apr 2024: Paramount Network (CH713), TVB Magic (CH124), and 2 Astro AOD catch-up channels (CH352 & 354).
  • Since Astro AOD catch-up channels 352 and 354 have ceased, so there's only 1 Astro AOD channel left, which is Astro AOD channel 311 (HD). So if you missed the previous episodes, your only option left is to stream it On Demand, or record the entire series of that particular show on your PVR/Ulti/Ultra Box and watch the recordings on My Library instead.
All Chinese channels on Astro (CH300 until CH335) are now available to ALL Astro customers, for "free"?
Starting 1 April 2024, Astro has made all Chinese channels, which are effectively from CH300 until CH335, to be available for every Astro customer to watch, regardless of what race you are, without any additional monthly charges.
Note: When I say "every Astro customer", I'm referring to Astro residential accounts. This is not applicable for commercial establishments (e.g. restaurants, hotels, hospitals, etc.)
So, you don't need whatever Dynasty Pack or Chinese Favourites to watch those premium Chinese channels anymore, especially TVB channels CH310 onwards.
However, some legacy pack customers who were unable to watch Astro Hua Hee Dai (CH333) before 1 April 2024, may still find themselves unable to watch it as it is. Continue reading below for further details.
QUOTE
What are the changes to the Astro Chinese channels lineup starting 1st April 2024?

- TVB Xing He (CH319)

Here's a table comparison that I made myself on how it looks like before and after:

Question: "What was the difference between Family Pack and Chuen Min (Chinese Family)?"
This info is applicable for legacy pack customers. If you are already on Astro's new packs, you can skip reading this to the next point.

Once upon a time, back in the legacy Astro pack era, Astro used to have a few variants of Family Packs, and Chuen Min (Chinese Family) was a known alternative to those who wants to watch more Chinese channels but pay at the same price as the normal Family Pack (RM39.95).
With Chuen Min (Chinese Family), you get the same exact channels as Family Pack, and you get these additional 3 Chinese channels: Celestial Movies (CH309), CTI Asia (CH316) and Phoenix InfoNews (CH326). But in exchange, you will lose 2 Malay channels and 1 Indian channel: Astro Ria (CH104), Astro Prima (CH105) and Astro Vaanavil (CH201).

But today, that has become a history of the past. Because from 1 Apr 2024 onwards, Astro has standardised the two Family Packs.
So if you are an existing Chuen Min Pack (Chinese Family) customer today, then you are now getting the same channel entitlement as the normal Family Pack.
So you could say that from now onwards, there is no more difference between Family Pack and Chuen Min Pack (Chinese Family).

Question: "You said I can watch all Chinese channels (CH300 until CH335) now, but my Astro Hua Hee Dai (CH333) is still showing "Channel not included in your subscription". Why?
Short answer: That means you are still on the legacy Astro pack of either Family Pack or Chuen Min (Chinese Family), and your subscription does not include either a bundle or a "Plus Package" called either 'New Emperor' or 'Gold'.

Once upon a time, Astro used to have a few types of packages & add-ons that targeted Malaysian Chinese audiences, like Chuen Min (Chinese Family), Dynasty, and also New Emperor and Gold "Plus Packages". And some of the channels are overlapping across different packages (as you can see in the table earlier).
Now, Astro has "combined and standardise" those channels that were used to be on Chuen Min (Chinese Family) and Dynasty for legacy pack customers, and Chinese Favourites for new Astro pack customers, and moved all of them to the basic Family/Primary Pack.
However, it appears to me that they kind of “left out” New Emperor & Gold Pack?

Due to this, Astro Hua Hee Dai (CH333) becomes the only Chinese channel that you won’t be able to watch if your legacy pack subscription does not include 'Plus Package' of either New Emperor or Gold.
If you want to watch that channel now, you can just to switch to any new Astro packs, then you will get the complete Chinese channels already. The era of having to subscribe expensive package or additional add-ons just to watch all the complete Chinese channels is now over.

Question: "How do I know whether my existing Astro pack already has either Dynasty or Chinese Favourites?"
If you are currently on these legacy Astro packs mentioned below, that means your Astro subscription has Dynasty pack:
  • Value Pack 3 (may include 3a/3b/3c variants), also known as Wah Pack
  • Value Plus Pack 3, also known as Wah Plus Pack
  • Super Pack Lite 3 (Movies)
  • Super Pack Lite 3 (Sports)
  • Super Pack 3
  • Super Pack 3a
  • Super Pack Plus 3
  • Super Pack Plus 4
  • or as long your Astro bill page number 3 mentions "Dynasty" or "Dyn" or "Dy"
(e.g. "Family+Dy" or "Family+1Mini+Dy+Mv" also means your Astro subscription has Dynasty pack, because it mentioned "Dy")
If you are currently on these new Astro packs mentioned below, that means you need to select 1x 'Asian Favourites' selection (it is mandatory), which you can choose 'Chinese Favourites':
  • Entertainment Pack
  • Entertainment Plus Pack
  • Premium Pack 2
  • Premium Pack 3
  • Premium Pack 4
  • Premium Pack 5
  • Platinum Lite Pack
  • Platinum Pack
'Asian Favourites' selections are:
  • Chinese Favourites (Discontinued since 1 Apr 2024)
  • Viu Premium
  • Indian Favourites
  • Indonesian Favourites
Asian Favourites can also be a standalone add-on. So, as long your Astro bill page number 3 mentions "Chinese Favourites" and being charged for RM14.99, then it means you have subscribed to Chinese Favourites as an add-on.
If you're not sure which Astro pack you're currently on, refer to your Astro bill (go to page number 3) or My Astro https://myastro.astro.com.my/

Question: “But I'm already paying a lot to subscribe to those Chinese channels, now you suddenly made them all ‘free’? What benefit do I get from this?”
So, if you are stuck in a situation like:
  • You previously chose Chinese Favourites as your free Asian Favourites selection.
  • You previously subscribed to Chinese Favourites as an RM14.99 addon…
  • You have already been on their legacy Astro pack that include Dynasty Pack, such as Value Pack 3, Super Pack 3…
then Astro's answer is:
QUOTE
What are the changes made to my subscription packages on 1st April 2024?

Bundle Packs with Chinese Favourites:
If you are currently on the Chinese Favourites selection, your selection will switch to Viu Premium at no additional cost progressively from 1 April 2024. Not to worry, you may still manually switch to other Asian Favourite selections if you wish via the My Astro app.

Chinese Favourites Add-ons:
There will not be any changes to your current subscription pricing. Furthermore, your subscription will now include additional channels on a free preview basis.

Old Packs:
There will not be any changes to your current subscription pricing. However, as we have recently made adjustments to the channel lineup in our packs, please call us at 03-7481 1000 (Monday to Friday, 9 AM – 6 PM excluding public holidays) to find out how you get more value from your subscription.

Source: https://support.astro.com.my/question/what-...-1st-april-2024
Question: "So, I won't be getting any automatic bill adjustment/discount? 😓
Look at Astro's company performance reports, and imagine this:
  • How great would the impact be towards their overall revenue and ARPU if they provide automatic bill adjustments to every affected paying customer?
  • The number of their Malaysian Chinese subscribers has been dropping. Do you agree that they made all Chinese channels available free for everyone now, is their way of encouraging Malaysian Chinese customers to continue staying with Astro, and at the same time, allow more viewers to watch all Chinese channels, especially some Malay viewers who may be interested in watching Chinese shows, like Hong Kong TVB ones?
  • Do you think they would want every existing Chinese subscribers to know about this?
Question: "But I've subscribed to Chinese Favourites add-on for RM14.99..." sweat.gif
If you do nothing, you'll likely will continue paying RM14.99 as-is. If you don't want to continue getting charged for the RM14.99, you can call customer service and tell them to manually remove Chinese Favourites add-on from your subscription.
Generally, you will be imposed RM10 switching fee if you make changes to your subscription that result in a lower monthly fee. Good news is, I got the info that they will waive that RM10 switching fee, only because of Chinese Favourites, of course.

UPDATE: Customers who are on either Sports Pack, Movies Pack, or Premium Pack 1 as of April 2024, and have been paying for the Chinese Favourites add-on, are automatically eligible for a permanent FREE access to selected paid TV channels.
Do note that streaming apps (e.g. Disney+ Hotstar) are not included in this free access. Here's some example for clarity:

>>Scenario 1: If you are on the Sports Pack as of April 2024, and have been paying for the Chinese Favourites RM14.99 add-on, you shall be eligible for permanent free access to these channels below, equivalent to Movies Pack:
Movies: CH401, CH411-416 (HITS Movies, all HBO channels, SHOWCASE, tvN Movies) & 2 Indian movie channels (Thangathirai CH241 & Zee Cinema CH251).

>>Scenario 2: If you are on either Movies Pack or Premium Pack 1 as of April 2024, and have been paying for the Chinese Favourites RM14.99 add-on, you shall be eligible for permanent free access to these channels below, equivalent to Platinum Lite Pack:
Sports: CH805-820 (Astro SuperSport UHD, SPOTV, beIN Sports,...)
Sports Extra: CH821-824 (WWE Network, Golf Channel, Premier Sports, Astro Cricket...)
Kids: CH612-620 (Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Moonbug,...)
Variety: CH702, CH714-718 (HITS NOW, BBC Lifestyle, MTV Live...)

If the FREE channels access are overlapping with the add-ons that you've subscribed to (e.g. You've subscribed to Kids RM9.99, but at the same time, now you're getting FREE access to Kids because of the Chinese Favourites add-on), then there will be NO automatic bill adjustment for you just for the specific overlapping add-ons. You may contact customer service to remove the overlapping add-on(s) so that you won't be charged anymore.

>>Scenario 3: If you are not on the three packs mentioned (Sports Pack, Movies Pack, or Premium Pack 1) as of April 2024, but have been paying for the Chinese Favourites RM14.99 add-on, then you will not be getting any free channels, but the RM14.99 charge will automatically stop and be removed from your bill.

As long as you continue paying the RM14.99, this eligibility of the FREE channels shall remain and can even be carried over if you upgrade to higher-tier packs in the future through customer service agent, but do note that you may lose the permanent free access if you do the pack upgrade through self-serve platforms (i.e. My Astro, WhatsApp, CH200).
If you contact customer service and insist to remove the RM14.99 charge from your bill, you will lose the FREE access to selected paid TV channels permanently and there shall be no U-turn on this.

On other note, if you fully understand the eligibility criteria of the FREE channels above, and you're certain that you should be eligible for the FREE access to selected paid TV channels, but somehow getting the message like "This channel is not included in your subscription" on your TV when tuning to the FREE channels mentioned earlier, it may be due to misconfiguration on Astro's end. Do contact customer service for assistance.

REMINDER: The information above is applicable only if you see "Chinese Favourites" along with the charge of "RM14.99" on your Astro bill, and it is NOT APPLICABLE to those who selected Chinese Favourites as part of the mandatory 1x Asian Favourites selection.
If you're not sure which Astro pack has the mandatory selection of Asian Favourites, please scroll up and refer to the "How do I know whether my existing Astro pack already has either Dynasty or Chinese Favourites?" section.

Question: "What happened to my free TVBAnywhere+?"
For those who are not aware, TVBAnywhere+ (Premium, VOD+Channel Zone) used to be included for free for Dynasty & Chinese Favourites customers. According to Astro website’s FAQ, which they put so hidden as if they intentionally don’t want you to know too easily:

The TVBAnywhere+ app is no longer available for new Astro customers. If you would like to subscribe to the TVBAnywhere+ app, you may still do so by purchasing it directly from TVB. We will keep you updated on when you can subscribe to this app through Astro.

What it means is that for Dynasty/Chinese Favourites customers who previously linked their TVBAnywhere+ with the Astro account, and been using it, then you shall still be able to continue using it.
However, if you've previously activated your free TVBAnywhere+ with Astro, and if you're getting an error message like "you are not an active subscriber of TVBAnywhere+" now, try contact Astro customer service for assistance.
But I got the info that their continued free usage for some existing Astro customers will only last for few months from now as it is just their "temporary solution".

On another note, if you are an existing Dynasty/Chinese Favourites customer but you never activate the free TVBAnywhere+ with Astro before 1 April 2024, then you won’t be able to get the free usage now. But think again, if you never link it before, then probably the TVBAnywhere+ isn’t very important for you anyway? After all, every Astro customers now can watch the current TVB shows on TVB Jade (CH310) and stream On Demand anyway. hmm.gif

Question: "Fine! What if I switch to the new packs, but choose 0 month contract? Will it be more worth it now? "
Let's break it down by a few examples below, to see what are the potential pros and cons you'll be getting:
Reminder: If you opt for either 12 or 24 months contract option, the contract will get auto renewed.
UPDATE: Starting May 2024, Astro has discontinued contract auto renewal rule, and 0 month contract option are no longer available. More info: https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...#entry109707353

Conclusion
So even though Dynasty and Chinese Favourites have been discontinued, it still doesn't necessarily mean that switching to the new Astro packs (with or without contract) is a straightforward "good deal" to consider.
  • Your monthly fee may become higher or lower than what you're paying now.
  • Those additional channels you can watch today (e.g., HITS Movies, Boo, Moonbug Kids, etc.)—you probably don’t even watch them? So it should be okay to lose those channels even after you switch to the new pack?
  • You might need to either subscribe to additional add-ons or opt for higher tier packs to continue watching those missing channels that you want to watch (e.g. Premier League channels 811-813).
Eventually it still depends on how much you're willing to pay for Astro service.
Also, if you are a legacy pack customer and wants to switch to the new Astro pack, you won't be charged RM10 switching fee, even if you opt for 0 month contract or the monthly fee is lower than what you're paying now.

@joshhd

My package very old and expensive which now consider to change.
This mostly watch by my parent, I seldom watch astro anymore.

My package from bill is wah pack RM80.00
additional mini RM24
Boo RM5.99

login astro site it show value pack 3b
add-on :
Boo
Dynasty Package
Korean Pack
Learning Package
New Emperor Plus Package
Premier League Pack
Variety Package

I ask my parent already, they say they mostly will watch 305-306, 308-311, 325, 335 only.
So those other like 404 (boo) I dunno why it include inside?
550-556 (learning)
714-718 (variety)
waste money only if they not watch it.

So do you think switch to Primary Pack RM59.99 is the best for this situation? save a lot plus we not use Astro GO, TVBAnywhere+.

So once change package, they will charge RM10 due to lower price package?
Then from finished contract long time ago become 24 months contract?

Do you know default pin for astro box? I never set it, I think the installer will use default pin. can you tell me default pin?
*

Yes. Refer to the few examples explained on my previous post. All details you need to know are there.

Value Pack 3 (Wah Pack) would also comes with Boo (CH404), Korean Pack channels CH395-396 and Moonbug Kids (CH619). If you still need these, you can still switch to Primary Pack, and then just subscribe to additional addons on top of it, to continue watching those channels. Same goes to Variety (CH702, 714-718), News & Documentaries (CH511-556).

If you still want HITS Movies (CH401) and Premier League channels CH811-813, then you'll need Movies Pack or Sports Pack, or other higher tier packs that includes both.

Since the monthly fee would be lower (which I believe, is what you wanted), I suggest you might as well contact customer service and make the changes to your subscription, rather than using self serve platforms like My Astro.

As for contract, you can still opt for 0 month contract if you're okay with the price, compared to the total price you're paying now. Of course, you'll get even lower fees if you opt for 24 month contract, but the contract will auto renew oh.

The default PIN is 0000.

ok thanks, I will go to their shop to do it. Hard to do in phone calling, always not clear.
*

Shop? No...
Astro no longer allow customers to do such thing at any of their physical shops nowadays, as their physical shops is not meant for customers to carry out tasks that can negatively affect their revenue.
It is meant to welcome new sign ups, and a place for the public to showcase their products and services. That's it. It's not a customer service centre.

Alternatively, you can try live chat with the agent instead.

1. Go to https://www.facebook.com/Astro
2. Type "Hi". If it's your first time, select "English" if being asked.
3. Then type "agent", then select whatever category you prefer.
4. Wait for the agent to attend you.

If you don't want Facebook, you can also try chat with agent on Astro website.

1. Go to https://product.astro.com.my/tv
2. On bottom right corner, click that chat icon when you see this:

Astro emailed me about my upcoming contract is finishing. If I don't do anything, would it auto renew to 2 year (with the cheaper price)? Or renew to only 1 year?
*

If your existing contract is already on 24 months, then it will auto renew for another 24 months if you don't do anything, and your monthly fee will remain the same as it is (unless if you have other kinds of special limited-time rebates, then it's different story).

Too little too late that Astro wanted to do standalone streaming service like sooka. Should’ve been done years ago to cater younger audiences that still wanna watch Astro but cheaper, without dish & tied with contract.

Tulah selesa sangat di bawah payung monopoly. Then didn’t bother our complaints all along to improve service. Your days are numbered.

It is believed that all this happen due to some changes in senior leadership in recent years, especially around 2020.
